Must See TV is back on NBC with two new funny comedies!
September 26th, 2019 under Kal Penn, Kristen Bell, NBC, Superstore, Ted Danson Mary Steenburgen. [ Comments: none ]

NBC is known for Must See TV on Thursdays and this season they are not disappointing. They start it off at 8p with Superstore. The season premiere picks up a few hours after the season finale when Mateo (Nico Santos) was taken away by ICE.

Jonah (Ben Feldman) has gotten everyone together from Cloud 9 for a vigil for Mateo. Since no one knows what to do, they sing a song that is perfect for them. You have to see it, to believe. That and to find out that Lauren Ash, who plays Dina, can really sing. You go girl.

Now, it is time for everyone to get back to work. Corporate has sent over a new worker to replace Mateo and everyone hates Glen with one “n”. Glenn (Mark McKinney) with two “n’s” hates him the most. Therefore, when they come up with a way to get rid of him, he is all for it.

Meanwhile, Dina is still mad at Garrett (Colton Dunn) for letting her birds accidentally go free, so she continues to torture him. He feels bad, but that is not good enough for her.

Talking about couples, Sandra (Kaliko Kauahi) wants to let everyone know that she is engaged but no one will let her talk.

When it comes to talking, Cheyenne (Nichole Bloom) has not spoken to her BFF since he was taken away. It is just too hard for her. Amy (America Ferrera) decides to kidnap her co-worker and take her to see their friend. Will she go inside?

All of this leads to a moment that will have everyone afraid, very afraid.

If working at a Big Box store was as fun as they make it look on Superstore, we would all be working at one!

Then at 8:30p, Bradley Whitford is back for another comedy on NBC. Perfect Harmony is something to sing about.

Arthur Cochran (Whitford) is the former chair of the music department at Princeton. After his wife died, he pretty much lost his will to live. He returns to her hometown to bury in her in the cemetery at the church she loved, but he is told there is no room. Therefore, he has come to confront them to let her in.

On the way there, the very drunk professor stops in front of another church with a choir rehearsing. They are so bad that he goes in to tell all of them how awful they are. When he is done, he passes out.

The next day, when he wakes up, and they ask him to coach their choir. He doesn’t want to do it, but then he gets his reason. Now he has to work on them to make them all singers whether they like what he says or not.

Ginny (Anna Camp) is a single mom, who is a mother to the group. She is also just so gosh darn nice. Adams (Tymberlee Hill) is not that nice, so she does not want to take Arthur’s advice. Jax is adopted and he is the Kumbaya one of the group. Wayne (Will Greenberg) takes a lot of crap Arthur, but he has potential. Although, not as much as Shep (Geno Segers) who has the deepest voice you will ever hear.

They are a dysfunctional bunch, but together they make beautiful music. That is why this and Carol’s Second Act are tied for my favorite new comedies with Sunnyside in a close second place.

Then at 9p, The Good Place begins its final season. Michael (Ted Danson) and Eleanor (Kristen Bell) are continuing to welcome the four new humans to The Good Place. They know that these four individuals are there to antagonize them. However, they have to work through it to save the human race.

How will Tahani (Jameela Jamil) deal with her gossip columnist arch-nemesis? Jason wants to be with Janet (Manny Jacinto) but she told him no because the experiment is too important. Meanwhile, Janet is busy dealing with all the new people’s request. Especially, the new guy who is there to torture Eleanor. She has enough problems now that Chidi’s (William Jackson Harper) memory has been erased and he does not remember her.

While things are not going smoothly for them, things are going better off down in the Bad Place. Or are they?

You don’t want to miss as our Fab Four tries to acclimate the new kids into their world with a big old party.

A sad party is happening over here because I don’t want this show to end.

Finally at 9:30p, Kal Penn is an elected official in Sunnyside. Scratch that, he is an impeached city councilman for Sunnyside in Queens, NY.

When Garrett Modi (Penn) first ran for office, he had dreams of helping the community. Fifteen years later, he is living in his office because his girlfriend kicked him out, he has no money and he has just been fired from his job. He moves in with his sister, Mallory (Kiran Deol) and she tells him to get a job.

He gets a call to meet some people at a bar to help them pass their citizenship test so they can become Americans. When all of his contacts fails, he decides to help them himself. Luckily, two of his students are really rich, so they throw money his way.

Those two students are siblings, Jim Hoa (Joel Kim Booster) and Mel Lin (Poppy Liu). We do not know where they are from because they won’t say. While they have lots of money, Griselda (Diana-Maria Riva) does not. The Dominican has so many jobs, no one can possibly count them all. Hakim (Samba Schutte) is a taxi driver from Ethiopia. Finally, there is Brady (Moses Storm), he just found out he is from Moldovia and that he was not born in America. His mother brought him here when he was two and she never told him. After he gets caught, the government told him to become a citizen or go back. Since he does not know where Moldavia is, he opts to become an American. Which is why he needs Garrett’s help.

Each week, Garrett will work with them to make sure they get to live the America Dream. Granted the brother and sister are already living all of their dreams and most other people’s. Can Garrett teach them all about the good ole USA?

You are going to want to watch the show that reminds us that we are all immigrants in America. You don’t have to be born here to love America. You just have to live hear to learn you love it! Like we will love this show.

2 Divas for the Super Bowl on 2/2/20
September 26th, 2019 under J-Lo, Shakira, Super Bowl. [ Comments: none ]

After this year’s lame Super Bowl half time show with Maroon 5, the NFL and Pepsi are hoping to spice it up for 2020. Which is why they asked Jennifer Lopez to do her thing for them. Wait, my hips don’t lie because it gets even hotter. They also got Shakira to join them in Miami on February 2nd.

While they are good choices, I am surprised they did not ask Gloria Estefan to do it. She is the Queen of Miami and should have been asked. Hopefully, the two Divas will find a way to incorporate her into their musical performance. She can get everyone to do the Conga.

The Good Place gets a pornody and it has a moral lesson!
September 26th, 2019 under Pornody. [ Comments: none ]

Tonight at 9p, it is time for The Good Place’s final season premiere. If that news makes you as sad as it makes me, then I have some good news for you! Wood Rocket and Pornhub have released the trailer to their latest pornody and guess what show they are taking on? They are doing The Goo Place. Sounds like something that will bring cheers to Ted Danson and the cast of the show.

Why did they pick a show about four recently deceased people who were told they were in Heaven when in reality they are really in Hell? Director Holly G. Myers revealed to me, “I love the show. A LOT. The show has so much sexual tension in it already, it just seemed so ripe for porn parodying.” Of course, she wanted to point out that, “Also, I really wanted porn performers to refer to their jobs as forking.”

Who are the people who got to fork in the pornody? They are Isabella Nice (Janet), Daphne Dare (Elanor), Avi Love (Tahini), Kilo White (Jianyu), Chris Cock (Chidi) and Lance Hart (Michael). They did a good job with casting because the actors look just like the people they are playing.

Since the original show is a lesson about morality and what qualifies someone to go to Heaven or Hell, I wanted to know what is the moral teachings we can get from this? Writer/Director Lee Roy Myers wants our takeaway to be, “I guess if we had to find a moral lesson in the porn parody it would be that orgies can get you into The Goo Place.”

I wonder who is on top and who is on the bottom in those orgies? Talking about tops, Myers said this sitcom has always been a top, “The whole WoodRocket team loves The Good Place. It was at the top of our list to parody for a while. So we’re just glad we finally got to make it.” And make it they did.

Tonight after you watch The Good Place, shut off your TVs, turn on your computers and watch The Goo Place. When you are done with both you will be in a good and goo place.

Carol’s Second Act is what the doctor ordered, Evil is the best Sci-Fi show in ages
September 26th, 2019 under CBS, Patricia Heaton, Uncategorized. [ Comments: none ]

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Eo1h9heXZ1M
Patricia Heaton is back on TV tonight at 9:30p in the comedy Carol’s Second Act. When she played Debra on Everybody Loves Raymond, she was, well, grumpy. The same when she played Frankie Heck on The Middle. I am not knocking it, she was great in both roles. However, in this CBS show, she is very happy. She is a positive force who gets to smile in a hospital. Which sounds bad when I write it like that, but it works when you see it.

Carol Kenney (Heaton) is a recently divorced, middle-aged woman, who just graduated medical school. Tonight is her first day as an intern in a hospital. Something you rarely see, because who would start med school anytime they are over 25? Carol Kenney is who.

When she shows up to work, her fellow interns think she is their resident. You should see their reaction when they find out she is not. Especially since they all heard that the Chief Resident Dr. Maya Jacobs (Ito Aghayere) is the complete opposite. How will she react to her peppy new intern? With torture!

When it comes to her fellow interns, there is Daniel Kutcher (Jean-Luc Bilodeau). He graduated from Harvard and thinks he is ready for anything. Turns out he is just book smart and finds out he might not be as ready for the job as he thought. Thankfully, he is not alone and his new co-workers will help him.

Lexie Gilani (Sabrina Jalees) is another intern, she is more street smart. She is also there to keep everyone in check. Basically, she is there to make fun of their failures. Next week, she has a lot of fun with Kutcher. This week, she picks on Caleb Sommers (Lucas Neff). His family is well known at the hospital, so everyone knows him. Lexie finds out something about him and she is not going to let him live it down.

Back to Carol, she is a former teacher and also a mother (her daughter, played by Ashley Tisdale, is a pharmaceutical rep who sells to the hospital). Carol is going to act like a teacher and a mother to her fellow intern and the patients. Her past work and life experience makes her a better doctor. Something Dr. Jacobs sees about the intern, but that doesn’t mean she likes it.

Each week, they are going to learn more about being doctors and know they have each other’s backs during the toughest times in their lives.

There has not been a good medical sitcom in a while and this show is the two aspirins we need to feel better.

After Carol’s Second Act, it is time to do a 360 with Evil at 10p, a new drama from Robert King & Michelle King, who gave us The Good Wife and The Good Fight. This is not a legal drama, far from it.

Dr. Kristen Bouchard (Katja Herbers) is a court psychologist is focused on the scientific explanation for everything. Her latest subject says he is possessed and she does not believe him. David Acosta (Mike Colter) is studying to be a priest but gets derailed from it by the Church to explain the supernatural. He is called in to look at Bouchard’s patient to see if it is true.

When Kristen won’t follow an instruction from the lawyer, who hired her, she loses her job. That is when David asks her to work with him. She tries to see if her patient is really possessed or if he is faking it. She goes in to talk with him, and this time there is something more evil about him. So evil, she walks out.

No one wants to take their work home with them, but evil is following her in her sleep. She starts dreaming about a scary creature and her patient tells her that he knows about him without her ever telling him. The creature is not only revealing himself to her but also to her daughters. Has working with the Church brought evil into her house? Or is there another explanation for the visions?

Will it make her want to work with David? Of course, she does, or we would not have a show. She and David also work with Ben Shroff (Aasif Mandvi), a carpenter who looks to see if there is a natural explanation for whatever case they are looking into.

Each week, they will try to find out if a miracle is a really a miracle or if people are really possessed or is someone controlling them? Sometimes the cause is supernatural other times it is explainable. They are just going to have to work to prove the truth and come up with a solution for each case.

Most Sci-Fi shows have a great pilot and immediately go to crap by the second one. Evil’s pilot is good. However, after watching the next three episodes, I can tell you they get so much better. I cannot remember the last time that this happened. The second and fourth episodes are especially good. Not only that, they are all very different.

While there is the procedural aspect to it, there are also some continuing storylines throughout the series like Kristen’s evil spirit taking over her house and what made David stop wanting to be a priest. Another character we will see throughout is played by Michael Emerson. I will not tell you what he does, but I will tell you he is so creepy he will give you nightmares.

I guess in a way, you might say the show will do the same. I won’t, you might. I cannot wait to see what they do next because this my favorite new drama of the fall. I am instantly hooked and I think you will be too.

Romy and Michelle’s real life reunion!
September 26th, 2019 under Friends (cast), Mira Sorvino, Reunions. [ Comments: none ]

Back in 1997, we all fell in live with Romy and Michelle when they went to their High School Reunion. Now, 22 years later, Lisa Kudrow and Mira Sorvino had their own reunion at a party.

Which makes you wonder if they are talking about doing a reunion movie for the 25th anniversary. Which would technically be their 35th high school reunion. Which makes me feel really old. However, I still want it. Do you want to see the inventors of Post-Its doing another film together?
