CODA’s Troy Kotsur will sign the national anthem at the Super Bowl
February 9th, 2023 under Super Bowl. [ Comments: none ]

What a year Troy Kotsur is having. First, he won several awards, including an Oscar, for his role in CODA. And now, on Sunday, the Mesa native is going to sign the national anthem at the Super Bowl in Arizona.

“I’m going to play the character of Francis Scott Key, who wrote the national anthem,” Kotsur told 3TV/CBS 5. “And I plan to tell it from his perspective in the way that I’m signing it, so I really analyzed his history when he was writing this song so I am going to become like him and what he saw during the war.”

Kotsur wants young deaf kids to see his performance and know they can do anything he has done.

The NFL found love with Rihanna for the Super Bowl Halftime Show
September 25th, 2022 under Rihanna, Super Bowl. [ Comments: none ]

On Thursday, the NFL announced that they teamed up with Apple Music to sponsor the Super Bowl Halftime Show. Today, we found out who will be singing for their first joint show together.

So get the umbrella-ella-ellas ready because it is Rihanna. Seth Dudowsky, NFL Head of Music, said, “Rihanna is a once in a generation artist who has been a cultural force throughout her career. We look forward to collaborating with Rihanna, Roc Nation and Apple Music to bring fans another historic Halftime Show performance.”

They got it right because the new mom is going to hit out of the park. I know that is a baseball term, but it works here.

The Super Bowl airs on February 12th.

Apple Music scores a touchdown
September 23rd, 2022 under Super Bowl. [ Comments: 10 ]

Pepsi is out. Apple Music is in. As in, the latter is the new sponsor of the Super Bowl Halftime Show.

“We are proud to welcome Apple Music to the NFL family as our new partner for the iconic Super Bowl Halftime Show,” said Nana-Yaw Asamoah, SVP of Partner Strategy for the NFL. “We couldn’t think of a more appropriate partner for the world’s most-watched musical performance than Apple Music, a service that entertains, inspires, and motivates millions of people around the world through the intersection of music and technology.”

It will be interesting to see what musical artists they will get to entertain us on February 12th. I am hoping they can convince Bon Jovi to change their minds, and do music’s most watched night of the year. If not them, then Lizzo!!!

Arnold Schwarzenegger is Zeus
February 2nd, 2022 under Ads, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Super Bowl. [ Comments: none ]

Arnold Schwarzenegger started his acting career as Hercules, and now he can be ending it as another Mythological Gd. That is because the actor is playing Zeus. Not in a movie, but in a commercial for BMW that is going to air during Super Bowl.

His career has come a long way, and it is fallen so hard. Although he is probably making more money per second for the ad than he makes for a movie. So, his career is still going strong like Zeus.

Lay’s scores a touchdown with this pre-Super Bowl ad!
January 27th, 2022 under Paul Rudd, Seth Rogen, Super Bowl. [ Comments: none ]

When I was in college, I majored in Advertising. When the teachers asked me, “What is my goal?” I said to them, “I want to have an ad during the Super Bowl.” So, they told me lower expectations before eventually telling me not to go into my major.

Anyways, since then, the commercials during the big game have been more miss than hit. However, Lay’s Potato Chips just won the game way before the kickoff. That is because they released a teaser for their advertisement with Seth Rogen and Paul Rudd.

So that is the state we are in; we are doing commercials for commercials! I love it!

Remember to watch the football game on February 13th to see the full ad.
