Nick Jonas was photographed wearing a t-shirt with John Stamos’ face on it. The actor was so in enamored with that admiration, he made a pillow case of that image and had sweet dreams on it. When the singer saw that, he made a blanket of that image and let that picture warm his cold nights.
How could Uncle Jesse top that? He got a tattoo of the youngest member of the Jonas Brothers on his arm. How is Mr. Pryianka Chopra going to top that? Only time will tell and you know they will tell us.
Back in 1939, Warner Bros released a movie called Nancy Drew and the Hidden Staircase. Now 80 years later, they are telling that story again on the big screen. This time Sophia Lillis (It) is playing the teenage sleuth.
For decades, little girls and girls who never grew up, enjoyed reading books about the detective. Now a new generation gets to enjoy her on the big screen. Hopefully, enough to get them to read the novels. I have two 10-year-olds in my life, and I am going to introduce them to this movie, to get them to read the series.
Drew and her dad (Sam Trammell) just moved from Chicago to River Heights, a much smaller town than what she is used to, to live with her aunt (Andrea Anders) after her mother died. Even though she is new to the town, they are already familiar to with the 16-year-old’s reputation as a detective.
Her friend George (Zoë Renee) calls her and tells her that their friend Bess (Mackenzie Graham) is being cyberbullied. Therefore, Drew comes up with a plan to get back at that boy. It is a perfect plan, except his girlfriend, Helen (Laura Slade Wiggins), pays the price of their revenge. Helen is a popular girl, who would never be seen with Drew and her friends, and her family is the town’s longest residents of the town.
Including Helen’s aunt Flora (Linda Lavin), who has a problem of her own. They say her house is haunted and turns out they might be right. The three of them decide to find out if Flora’s home is being taken over by the supernatural or is their a natural explanation? What they find out has a much bigger impact on all of their lives.
Will Nancy Drew be able to save the day? Especially since Sheriff Marchbanks (Jay DeVon Johnson) really has it out to bust her. He has already taken her into the station several times for some of the things she has done in the past. Luckily, she has Deputy Patrick (Andrew Matthew Welch) on her side. Is it enough?
You will just have to go see the movie that is out in theaters now to find out. It is the perfect family movie to run and see with your loved ones. Not only will it inspire you to read the Nancy Drew books again, but it will also make you want to investigate the things around you too. I want to be a detective now.
I also can see this becoming a big screen franchise again because it is the type of movie that feels like the type of book you cannot put down. Kind of like Nancy Drew books. Whether you are a fan of the novels or never read one, you will find this film so enjoyable, you will want to read her mysteries all over again. That is until the movie comes out on home video, then you will stop to watch the feature again and again.
Nancy Drew and the Hidden Staircase is directed by Katt Shea and produced by Warner Bros., Ellen DeGeneres’ A Very Good Production and Red 56.
Last week, when we left off of Doom Patrol it was literally the end of the World. Today, the episode, streaming now on DC Universe, picks up with Rapture making people disappear.
That is not the only story in the fifth episode. We also learn more about Crazy Jane (Diane Guerrero) and her time in the institution. They tortured her, but they could not break her. While they tried their hardest to do just that, they wound up creating a new personality for her. One that plays a part in the current apocalypse.
I cannot tell you much more, but I can tell you Disco also plays a part in it too. Who knew that was the Devil’s music and not heavy metal?
Another big part of this episode is The Captain (Timothy Dalton) is back. How will Doom Patrol react to his reappearance? One of them will walk out and another will turn on him.
However, they have a much bigger problem. You know, like the end of the World. Can these dysfunctional superheroes save the day?
A fun feature integrated into this episode is that the writers are starting to have a lot more fun and referencing the show itself. That is what makes this series so enjoyable to watch, they understand you cannot take a show with superheroes who are misfits too seriously. If you do, then it would be like almost all the other comic book movies and shows. Those are boring, DP is exciting. Plus, they use the S and F words! What more do you need to watch? Therefore, go to the streaming site and subscribe. Did I mention Matt Bomer and Brendan Fraser are also part of the patrol?
Mama June knew she was going to be in the news today, she just did not know it was going to be because she was arrested. Honey Boo Boo’s mom’s thought it would be all about doing press for her reality show From Not to Hot which is back on WeTV tonight. That is not what everyone is talking about now.
They are talking about how the grandmother and her boyfriend, Geno Doak, were arrested on Wednesday. According to TMZ, the couple was fighting at a gas station in Alabama and someone called the popo. When the police got there, they felt they had enough to arrest Doak on suspicion of domestic violence/harassment. Then it is reported that they also found enough to take both of them in for felony possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia. Which gives a whole new meaning to GoGo Juice.
While we know what is in GoGo Juice (Mountain Dew and Red Bull), we do know what the controlled substance is that cops allegedly found on Honey Boo Boo’s mom. We also do not know if WeTV will continue to air her series which will show the couple fighting this season. I have a feeling they will let this season run its course and then cancel it. That decision is still weeks away. And Mama June is no Lori Loughlin.
Dr. Ruth Westheimer might be 90, but that does not mean she is too old to go to a concert. Yesterday, the sex Guru went to see Marc Anthony sing and she shared a sweet story from the performance. She said, “Some nice gentleman helped me stand on a chair so I got a great view.” That was the first man to be attracted to her.
After the show, she posed in a photo with the singer and Vin Diesel. Two men, who were also drawn to her. Can you blame them, she is the most vibrant 90-year-old out there. Who doesn’t love the woman who knows all about lovemaking and doesn’t mind sharing her vast knowledge on the topic? I am sure she gave them some tips about how to use their tips.
