Yesterday, Pat Sajak announced that he will be retiring from Wheel of Fortune at the end of next season.
Today, on The View, Whoopi Goldberg threw her hat into the wheel to be his replacement. And you can tell by her face she would be really excited to do it. Her face lit up like a little kid’s when you would ask them what they want to be when they grow up, and they will tell you they want to be an astronaut.
And it is totally possible because they only tape for like 35 days out of the year. So she could still host both shows simultaneously.
Pat Sajak made a huge announcement today. The next season of Wheel of Fortune will be his last.
“Well, the time has come. I’ve decided that our 41st season, which begins in September, will be my last,” the host wrote. “It’s been a wonderful ride, and I’ll have more to say in the coming months. Many thanks to you all. (If nothing else, it’ll keep the clickbait sites busy!)”
The 76-year-old joined the game show on December 28, 1981.
It will be interesting to see who they get to replace him. And if Vanna White will stay on with the show. I hope she does, at least for a transitional year.
UPDATE: Vanna White said this about Pat Sajak retiring, “When we started Wheel of Fortune who could have imagined we’d still be at it 41 seasons later? I couldn’t be happier to have shared the stage with you for all these years with one more to come. Cheers to you, Pat! “
So it sounds like she will be staying on with the show.
Sarah was a contestant on Wheel of Fortune yesterday. However, she was not there to see Vanna White nor Pat Sajak. Instead, she really wanted to meet Jim Thornton because she is a huge fan of the announcer.
So when Sarah made it to the Bonus Round, the host did something special for her. He swapped places with Thornton so that she could play the game with him.
Her dream came true, even if she didn’t win the Bonus Round. But her bonus was much better than whatever was in that envelope.
Vanna White, 66, has been turning letters on Wheel of Fortune for 40 years, and she looks even better now than she did when she started on the game show.
And that is thanks to her pre-show ritual. Yesterday at the end of Wheel, Pat Sajak asked her to share it with us. What is it? She works out with dumbbells, and I am not talking about her co-host. Sorry, it was too easy.
Back to White. Now we know the secret to her toned arms! I am so inspired by her that I dug up my Shake Weight and started working my arms. And then, after a few pumps, I put it in the trash because what I was thinking? I am no Vanna White.
