Two days ago, Zayn Malik quit One Direction, and Billy Zane thought all those sad Tweets were about him. The Titanic star took to Funny or Die to let all his crying 14 year old girl fans know that he spells his last name as Z-A-N-E and not Z-A-Y-N. But what he doesn’t realize is that they weren’t talking about him. Who wants to tell him that they were referring to the singer and not him? Not me, because he might go overboard when he finds out.
Yesterday, the world was shocked and saddened when Zayn Malik announced that he was quitting One Direction. As soon as people were able to accept and comprehend his departure and the desperate need for a replacement, several men started throwing in their names into the hat. While singers like Weird Al Yankovic just Tweeted about, John Stamos and Conan‘s Andy Richter went even further. Both men made audition tapes.
Watch the videos above of them both singing What Makes You Beautiful and tell me who is a more beautiful choice for the job? Personally, I think Richter is so much sexier with the 1D!
Days after Zayn Malik left the One Direction tour, he announced today that he is leaving the band.
1D posted this message on their Facebook page:
After five incredible years Zayn Malik has decided to leave One
Direction. Niall, Harry, Liam and Louis will continue as a four-piece and look forward to the forthcoming concerts of their world tour and
recording their fifth album, due to be released later this year.
Zayn says: “My life with One Direction has been more than I could ever have imagined. But, after five years, I feel like it is now the right time for me to leave the band. I’d like to apologise to the fans if I’ve let anyone down, but I have to do what feels right in my heart. I am leaving because I want to be a normal 22-year-old who is able to relax and have some private time out of the spotlight. I know I have four friends for life in Louis, Liam, Harry and Niall. I know they will continue to be the best band in the world.”
One Direction say: “We’re really sad to see Zayn go, but we totally
respect his decision and send him all our love for the future. The past five years have been beyond amazing, we’ve gone through so much together, so we will always be friends. The four of us will now continue. We’re looking forward to recording the new album and seeing all the fans on the next stage of the world tour.”
I know that bands have survived losing a member, but I have a feeling that this will be the last tour and album for these guys. They are not teens anymore and I bet they want to move on with their lives as 20somethings. Which you can’t blame them if they did. Plus, they can make like Backstreet Boys and New Kids on the Block and get together again when they are little older, and restart their careers.
Tonight on The Tonight Show, Jimmy Fallon and The Roots let One Direction enter their special room and together they all sang Santa Claus is Coming to Town with classroom instruments. If this doesn’t bring a smile to your face, then you are a true Scrooge. Bah humbug!
One Direction is going to be back on Sesame Street this month and they are not as popular as they used to be. The girls found some new rock stars to idolize and you’ll never believe who their #1 is now. I can totally see why the ladies are digging the new 1D. Do you see it too?
