Where are the Oompa Loompas when you need them?
August 15th, 2016 under Barbra Streisand, Seth MacFarlane. [ Comments: none ]

Barbra Streisand and Seth MacFarlane recorded Pure Imagination from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and someone needs to call the Oompa Loompas ASAP. Time for them come on over and take them away for destroying such a beautiful song. Glee got it right. Josh Groban got it right. Maroon 5 got it semi-right. Mariah Carey got it wrong. And now MacBabs are giving Mimi a run for worst cover of the song that still haunts us thanks to Gene Wilder. That is the thing that MacBabs missed about the tune, yes it is beautiful but it is also haunting. Without that factor, the song is no different than any other ballad.
And what is up with Babs arm movements as she sang the song. Take them to The Chocolate Room and tell them the water is safe to drink!

Oompa, Loompa, doom-pa-dee-do
I have a perfect puzzle for you
Oompa, Loompa, doom-pa-dee-dee
If you are wise, you’ll listen to me.
What do you get when you sing a duet?
Singing as hyper as a wooden puppet
What are you at getting terribly flat?
What do you think will come of that?
I don’t like the sound of it.

Is James Brolin really 75?
April 14th, 2016 under Are they really their age?, Barbra Streisand, Josh Brolin. [ Comments: none ]

Josh Brolin shared a photo of his father James Brolin, 75, and said, “Dude looks damn good for any age.” That he does! That he sure does!
Barbra Streisand is a lucky woman because she gets to sleep next to that every night. Who wouldn’t their husband to age like him? I know I do. Don’t you?

Tracy Morgan wishes he could’ve married Barbra Streisand!
January 19th, 2016 under Barbra Streisand, Jimmy Fallon, Tracy Morgan. [ Comments: none ]

When Tracy Morgan talked to Matt Lauer about a year after his accident, the comedian told him that he “can’t wait to make them laugh again.” Seven months after that interview, that is exactly what he did on The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon.
The thing that makes Morgan such a great talk show guest is that once he starts going, you don’t want him to stop and you couldn’t do it even if you tried. For example, all the NBC late night host did was ask him if he saw the new Star Wars movie. From there he went off on only one African American being in the movie to Chewbacca being in rehab to Rocky Balboa losing that second fight to Apollo Creed to what could’ve saved Sonny Corleone in The Godfather and doing a spot on Fredo impression. Then he stated that he wants a radio show on Sirius where all he does he talk about classic movies. I hope they were listening because I would tune into that show every time it was on.
But Morgan wasn’t done, he then declared, “Nobody acts better than Barbra Streisand.” Fallon asked him with surprise in his voice, “Really?” Tracy replied, “Yeah. I wish we could’ve got married, but it didn’t work out.” Forget the Sirius radio show, someone needs to give Tracy and Babs a Romantic Comedy to do ASAP. Could you imagine? It would be like butter!

Who’s the bigger diva in this photo Babs or Lady Gaga?
August 23rd, 2015 under Barbra Streisand, Keanu Reeves, Lady Gaga. [ Comments: none ]

Barbra Streisand and Lady Gaga, two of the biggest female singers of our lifetime, got together yesterday and all I could think of is who is the bigger diva in their photo. I have to say it is Mother Monster because when was the last time Babs did anything? The last thing I remember her doing what that GA movie with Seth Rogen. That movie was beyond painful. Even worse than Little Fockers and that says a lot.
Check back with me in a few months because after American Horror Story: Hotel, I might say it is a tie.

UPDATE: Barbra shared a photo of her night with Gaga and friends, and her husband James Brolin is the most normal person in it. The photo also includes Ryan Murphy and his AHS: Hotel star along with his American Crime Story star John Tavolta and his wife Kelly Preston. Why they were all hanging out together, we don’t know. We just have to hope it is because she is going to star in one of Murphy’s many shows. Brolin isn’t available because he’s busy working on the painfully unfunny comedy Life in Pieces on CBS.

Why can’t Jimmy Fallon just let it be about the guest for once?
September 15th, 2014 under Barbra Streisand, Jimmy Fallon. [ Comments: none ]

Barbra Streisand was on The Tonight Show tonight, her first late night appearance in half a century. Therefore, you’d think that Jimmy Fallon would treat her like the Queen of England. Especially since, in NY she is bigger than that other English lady.
I am not sure the NBC late night host did her justice during their duet number. This should’ve been about Babs, not about him thinking he could do a good Elvis Presley. Which I don’t think he did. Or showing off he’s such good friends with Blake Shelton that he is vocal double. Finally, closing out the bit by trying to do his best Michael Buble, but in reality he just sounded like himself.
Why does everything on his show have to be about him and making people laugh at everything? It’s like he is a spoiled little kid and everything has to be about him and how cute he is. But to someone who isn’t related to the brat, he is just an annoying little child you can’t wait to get away from and wish his parents would do a better job raising him.
Don’t get me wrong, I like Fallon. I am just so tired of everything being about him. Sometimes its needs to be about the guest and not him. Like during the classroom instruments, he needs to sing louder than the singer whose song they’re singing. He’s not a singer, he’s a comedian. If he is doing something like he did with Bruce Springsteen, I get doing it in character. In ways, I think he takes those performances more seriously than like the one he did tonight.
Sorry, this has been bothering me for a while and tonight was the final nail. And the funny part is, I am not a fan of Babs. But this was a get you treat with a respect. There are certain people who earn that. One of the biggest names in showbiz who hasn’t been on late night in fifty, yes 5-0 years, I think we can all agree she earned it.
Do your schtick with your everyday guests, but don’t do it with a legend.
BTW don’t tell my dad or my NYC BFF that I wrote this post, they will yell at me for saying anything negative about Fallon. I feel bad doing it, I really do. I am sincerely sorry because I think he’s the nicest guy in late night. But just because he is late night’s baby (in age) that doesn’t mean he should act like one.
Am I alone in my feelings about Jimmy Fallon and some of his bits?
