How bad did Anthony Anderson do the first time he tried standup?
April 16th, 2025 under Anthony Anderson, Jennifer Hudson, Ramón Rodríguez. [ Comments: none ]

We know Anthony Anderson as an actor, an opera singer, a producer, and a host. But did you know he tried to do standup?

Today, when he and the cast from G20 were on The Jennifer Hudson Show, he shared that story with the host, Viola Davis, Anthony Anderson, Antony Starr, Marsai Martin, Ramón Rodríguez, Christopher Farrar, and Sabrina Impacciatore.

How did it go? “I got booed off the stage,” he said. “I went up there, I guess I wasn’t that funny. So, they turned my mic off within the first 15 seconds. And I was like, ‘I don’t need a mic,’ and threw my mic on the stage. So I started to try to tell jokes with no mic, so they turned the lights off on the stage…So I had to walk off the stage. And, I walked out the back door to my car and drove with the heat on, and the windows rolled up. And I cried. So people couldn’t tell I was crying, they thought I was sweating.”

It all worked out because he probably would not have had the success he has had had he become a standup comedian.

Watch this clip all the way until the end. That is when you can see Will Trent’s Rodriguez show off his professional Salsa moves as he dances with Davis and Hudson at the same time. Now, we know why he was so good during that Disco scene! That has been my favorite moment from the FBI procedural, and I adore that show and its star!

Abbott Elementary visits It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia
April 16th, 2025 under Danny DeVito, Kaitlin Olson. [ Comments: none ]

Earlier this year, Mac (Rob McElhenney), Charlie (Charlie Day), Dennis (Glenn Howerton), Dee (Kaitlin Olson), and Frank (Danny DeVito) went back to school at Abbott Elementary. And this Summer, the teachers are going to Paddy’s Pub.

This season, which is also their 20th anniversary, “The Gang Embraces The Corporate Era:” The story of how greed and the New American Dream have consumed Paddy’s Pub.

They’ll exploit cross-network promotion to increase market share; they’ll scapegoat one of their own to avoid a PR backlash; they’ll risk everything for a handshake with the Saudis; they’ll bend the laws with side hustles to pad their pockets; and they’ll change everything about themselves to appeal to a broader audience.

And sure, like any corporate goon, the Gang craves money and parasitic social privileges. That’s been plain since 2005. But they’re also human beings. They crave love…respect…conditional freedom…constant adulation…histrionic amounts of attention… non-stop gratification…and unfiltered, slaphappy eroticism. They’ll chase down them all.

And the money. Obviously, the money. They don’t want to spend the rest of their lives working like dogs.

After 17 seasons and 20 years, I think they will be doing that until Danny DeVito is the last one standing. So that will be forever!

It’s Always Sunny returns to Hulu on July 20th.

Would you eat Miller Lite inspired Pringles?
April 16th, 2025 under Junk Food. [ Comments: none ]

Beer and chips have been going together since men started skipping church to watch sports. So, it would make sense that someone would mash the two flavors up into one treat. But no one has done that.

That is, until now, because Pringles teamed up with Miller Lite for beer-inspired barbecue flavored potato chips.

  • Pringles® x Miller Lite Beer Can Chicken deliciously combines the flavor of savory roasted chicken complete with notes of garlic and onion with the authentic flavor of the Original Light Beer.
  • Pringles® x Miller Lite Grilled Beer Brat has that smokey grilled brat flavor you know and love, with notes of black pepper, caramelized onion and brown spice. The authentic flavor of the Original Light Beer comes through in a hoppy, malt beer aroma.

“Whether or not you’re a grill-master, who doesn’t enjoy a beer and crisps as a summer snack?” said Ann Legan, VP of Marketing, Miller Family of Brands. “We know fans already infuse Miller Lite’s iconic flavor into grilled staples, so bringing those same flavors into an ultimate savory snack with Pringles felt like a seamless fit for fans to snack on at their backyard barbecues this summer. We hope our fans everywhere get the chance to try them.”

I love a good flavor combination, but I am not entirely sold on this. Are you going to try a tube?

The Miller Lite X Pringles will hit retailer shelves in May.

The Emmys must be desperate if they asked Nate Bargatze to host
April 16th, 2025 under Emmys. [ Comments: none ]

The Emmys are still five months away, but they are not waiting to announce who will be hosting television’s biggest night. The Master of Ceremonies is going to be Nate Bargatze.

With all of the options they have from CBS and their sister network, Comedy Central, they could have gotten a better comedian who would get the ratings. But I guess they all said no.

The guy who said yes, said, “It’s a huge honor to be asked to host such an iconic awards show and I’m beyond excited to work with CBS to create a night that can be enjoyed by families around the world.”

I am just hoping the few million viewers will be able to enjoy him because he has his work cut out for him. It will be a night full of shows that barely anyone watches, and the same people getting the same noms.

Deal me in for Poker Face season 2!
April 16th, 2025 under Natasha Lyonne, Peacock. [ Comments: none ]

Back in the latter part of the 20th Century, detective shows knew how to have fun. But then, when the clock struck 2000, the murder of the week series became all about the blood.

But then, in January 2023, the clock turned back the hands of time, and Peacock gave us Natasha Lyonne as Poker Face. And for ten glorious episodes, we were able to watch Columbo meet Jessica Fletcher meet Frank Dresbin!

Ever since the season finale, we have been waiting for Charlie Cale to come back as the Human Lie Detector. And now we know she will be back on the case on May 8th.

For Season 2’s 12 episodes they’ve taken her journey to the next level one murder mystery at a time. From minor league baseball to big box retail, from funeral homes to alligator farms and even a grade school talent show, Charlie navigates her crime solving existential road-trip with deadpan wit, human empathy, and her signature uncanny lie-detecting ability.

After watching the trailer, I am even more excited for Charlie and her run in with the female Damien!
