ABC has kept their fans on the edge of their seats. Not due to any storylines, but if they were going to pick up Will Trent and The Rookie for another season.
Today, we finally found out the fate of the two cop procedurals on social media. The Nathan Fillion drama based on an old Rookie in Los Angeles will be back for season 9. Granted, he hasn’t been a rookie in season 1, I guess it was too late to change the name.
Also, Bluebell has something to bark about. She and Ramón Rodríguez, her TV master’s series about the Georgia Bureau of Investigations, will be alive for season 5.
R.J. Decker, Scrubs, and Shifting Gears are still waiting to find out if they will report to work next season or not.
I have said this before, and I will say this again: Bluebell, who plays Betty Marie White Trent, is the star of Will Trent.
Sorry, Ramón Rodríguez, but you know it is true, as do your co-stars, Erika Christensen, Iantha Richardson, Jake McLaughlin, and Sonja Sohn. That is why they are all mesmerized by the chihuahua as she walks on by.
You can watch the biggest literal bitch in primetime on ABC every Tuesday at 8p and on Hulu the next day.
Will Trent is finally back on ABC tonight, and Ramón Rodríguez plugged the police procedural on Good Morning America this morning.
The actor talked about how his female co-star is a “massive diva.” So which actress was he talking about? Is it Erika Christensen, Iantha Richardson, Sonja Sohn, or Cora Lu Tran?
It is none of the above. He is talking about the literal bitch, Bluebell, the arfdorable chihuahua who steals every scene she is in.
She is so special that she doesn’t have to take part in rehearsals. Instead, they use a stuffed animal as her stand-in.
Not only that, she travels in private jets to and from Florida to film her scenes, and she has two trailers on the set for her entourage.
When it comes to filming the car scenes, she sits on a furry pad in the backseat of a small Porsche, while someone is hidden in the “backseat” holding a safety line so that she does not fall out.
Because let’s be honest, the show might be called Will Trent, but BETTY is the star and needs to be protected at all costs. Sorry Rodríguez, you are just the second dog to her!
And talking about the actor who walks on two feet, don’t you just love hearing him tawk with his New Yawk accent and not his Atlanta drawl, which he has perfected. Since I have lived in both cities, I can confirm that he nailed it!
Can you tell I am so excited we are finally getting new episodes of Will Trent???
Will Trent finally returns on the 6th, and ABC released a trailer for the upcoming season today.
The season premiere takes place five months after the attack on the GBI. A figure from Will’s (Ramón Rodríguez) past escapes prison, forcing him to defy orders and launch a search that rips open old wounds and threatens to destroy everything he’s fought to rebuild.
I hope that story arc only lasts a few episodes because I prefer the show when it is a procedural and not a Soap. But I still love it because there is so much heart between the characters.
Last season, my favorite moment from any show was the cast of Will Trent dancing to Donna Summer’s Last Dance. It was pure joy, and Will’s dancing hallucination went viral.
Because of that, ABC had Ramón Rodríguez, Erika Christensen, Iantha Richardson, Jake McLaughlin, Sonja Sohn, and Bluebell put on their boogie shoes to shake their booties to Time Has Come Today by The Chambers Brothers.
While that promo doesn’t preview the new season, it makes me even more excited that we are getting new episodes on January 6th.
