Yesterday, it was announced that Austin Butler is going to play Elvis Presley in Baz Luhrman’s movie about the singer. Which I think is perfect casting since I have been a fan of his work since I interviewed him for Ruby and the Rockits.

Anyways, three years ago, Butler’s girlfriend, Vanessa Hudgens, played Rizzo in Grease: Live and sang about Elvis. I wonder if she knew then that her boyfriend was going to play the role. One thing I think it is safe to say that Hudgens never told Butler, “Keep that pelvis far from me!”

Now, I am going to sound like a mother, but when are those going to get married already? What are they waiting for?

Back to Grease and Elvis. On the day they shot Look At Me I’m Sandra Dee in the original movie, it was the same day the Presley died. Just an interesting fact from Grease.

What are the best Halloween movies coming up in 2019?
July 16th, 2019 under Movies. [ Comments: none ]

The horror movie genre seems to be going from strength-to-strength with some great movies released in 2018. Movies which included the remake of the iconic Halloween. So, with a lot to live up to, what does 2019 have in store?

Well the good news is there’s lots to look forward to for the horror movie buffs amongst us. We’ve already had some great movies and there’s lots more on the way. And, as a genre that thrives on sequels, there are some much anticipated stories to be continued.

Annabelle 3

A sequel to Annabelle and Anabelle:Creation, and all spin-offs from The Conjuring this could be the scariest premise of the franchise so far. Anabelle is a possessed doll who, in this movie, now sets her sights on Ed and Lorraine Warren’s young daughter. But not content to haunt alone, the doll brings all the other haunted items in the Warren’s artefact room to life.

IT: Chapter 2

This could be the most anticipated sequel of this year. Based on the 1,100 page Stephen King novel, it’s the second part of the book adaptation. The first movie, released in 2017 grossed over $700 million worldwide, focused on the children. The sequel, set to be released in September 2019, focuses on the same characters but as adults. With some big names including Jessica Chastain as the grown-up Beverly, James McAvoy as Bill, James Ransone as Eddie, and Bill Hader as Richie. Bill Skarsgard returns in his star-making role as Pennywise, the evil clown.

The Prodigy

Nicholas McCarthy directs this paranormal chiller starring Taylor Schilling from Orange is the New Black.  Schilling plays a mother of a young boy with behavioural issues who comes to believe they may have a supernatural cause.

The dead don’t die

So, this is more comedy horror than terrifying but judging by the trailer, it looks like one to watch. Staring Tilda Swinton, Bill Murray, Adam Driver, Chloe Sevigny, Steve Buscemi, it’s got some big names battling the undead in the small peaceful town of Centreville.

Child’s Play

A new and completely modern version of Chucky is about to hit our screens and it looks terrifying. It’s based on the original movie but has been brought into the modern-day times and now features a modern-day toy with no limitations. Written and directed by Lars Klevberg, the original Child’s Play writer and director of the recent Cult of Chucky and Curse of Chucky movies, Don Mancini has had nothing to do with it. However, the main characters remain the same.

The New Mutants

This is a horror-themed X-Men spinoff which has been recalled and rescheduled several times in order for them to avoid clashes with other superhero movies and make it scarier– let’s hope they’ve been successful. The film is about a group of young mutants held in a secret facility who are fighting to save themselves whilst coming to grips with their new powers.

Meth-Gators sounds like a movie coming to Syfy in the fall!
July 16th, 2019 under Animals. [ Comments: none ]

Police in Loretto, Tennessee were about to bust a man for meth. As they entered his house, with a warrant, they allegedly heard him trying to flush his drugs down the toilet. Because of that man’s actions, they had a warning for their residents.

They said, “Folks…please don’t flush your drugs m’kay. When you send something down the sewer pipe it ends up in our retention ponds for processing before it is sent down stream. Now our sewer guys take great pride in releasing water that is cleaner than what is in the creek, but they are not really prepared for meth. Ducks, Geese, and other fowl frequent our treatment ponds and we shudder to think what one all hyped up on meth would do. Furthermore, if it made it far enough we could create meth-gators in Shoal Creek and the Tennessee River down in North Alabama. They’ve had enough methed up animals the past few weeks without our help. So, if you need to dispose of your drugs just give us a call and we will make sure they are disposed of in the proper way.”

What would a methed up animal be like? Scratch that, I don’t want to know. I will just wait for Meth-imals to find out. You know they are working on the movie as we speak. Forget Zoombies, this will be the scariest film about killer animals to date.

Now back to the drugged-up animals. At first, I was like, give the alligators pot because that will calm them down. Then I remembered, it will also give them the munchies. That is bad for us because we taste like chicken and they like chicken.

Sacha Baron Cohen has the best Emmy nom reaction!
July 16th, 2019 under Sacha Baron Cohen. [ Comments: none ]

Sacha Baron Cohen shocked us all with his Showtime show Who Is America. Or I should say, he shocked the people he interviewed when he showed them how stupid and full of hate they are with his undercover talk show.

Who is America brought down a few politicians (whose names I won’t mention because they need to remain forgotten) and today he earned 3 Emmy nominations for his work on it. Like the other nominees, he wrote a thank to you to the Academy. However, he did it in his own special way!

Thank you to the EMMYs for the nominations for Who Is America. It was a bare-bones production – I went out into the heartland of this country armed only with a camera crew, a makeup kit and my trusted pedophile detector.

I want to thank my crack team of researchers told to uncover bigotry, racism and hate in the US. That took them about 30 seconds… they just started following the President.

While I am flattered at these nods, it is a shame that my co-stars were not recognized. Particularly Dick Cheney, who I had hoped would come across on camera as someone who’d gleefully sent hundreds of thousands to their pointless death – and boy did he deliver. I’ve played some lunatics in my time, but the look of vacuous evil in his eyes as he autographed a waterboard kit, would put Daniel Day Lewis to shame.

There’s one more person I need to thank even though she didn’t appear in the final project, Sarah Palin. Sarah, if you are out there, and you are WAY out there, please know the last time unseen footage generated as much interest, was when Donald Trump visited a Moscow hotel room.

Thankfully, Palin won’t understand why this is a diss. However, we will. When it comes to that other tape, Cohen should not assume that she has not seen it. After all, she can see Russia from her house, and I am sure they are playing it on all the video billboards there. Therefore, she has seen it.

Jimmy Fallon and Stephen Colbert’s NeverEnding Story!
July 16th, 2019 under Jimmy Fallon, Limahl, Netflix, Stephen Colbert. [ Comments: none ]

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OPOPHGhlqlQ
I will admit, I am one of the few people who has not seen Stranger Things season 3 yet. I am still stuck on season 2. However, I have heard about the NeverEnding Story scene. Since I have been a neverending fan of Limahl’s, I have been curious about that scene.

Then last night late night competitors Jimmy Fallon and Stephen Colbert went from their shared love of Ben & Jerry’s ice cream to ’80s soundtrack songs that are bigger than the movies they are from. In other words, they did that scene from the Netflix show, so now I get what all the fuss is about.

Even though The Tonight Show and The Late Show go head-to-head, the two hosts are in perfect harmony when they sing.

Now back to Limahl, personally, NeverEnding Story is not one of my favorite songs of his. I prefer everything off of his album Colour All My Days and from Kajagoogoo over it. Which means you need to discover his tunes. He is becoming a huge hit again on Spotify, so start there.

Now, if you are like me and have not seen the scene that started all of this, then click here!
