My dream of seeing a Benetton rugby on The Goldbergs is not dashed just yet. That is because Adam F. Goldberg revealed that both the sitcom about his family in the ’80s and it ’90s spinoff will be around for another season. The EP wrote, “While the network and studio continue to debate contract stuff I don’t understand, I can officially announce that another hour long block of 1980something and 1990something is on the way!!!!!! Begin the @GoldbergsTimer!!!!!! I ❤️❤️❤️❤️ the @goldnerds #schooled #thegoldbergs”
He was not the only one to break the news, Wendi McLendon-Covey broke it first with, “Buckle up schmoos! Just got word that @TheGoldbergsABC is coming back for SEASON 7! So thankful I get to keep working with my beautiful tv fam, insanely talented crew, and sexy-as-hell writers! #TheGoldbergs”
See Constance Wu, that is how an actress is supposed to react when her show gets picked. Especially by a more talented, beloved actress who works nonstop and has been in many more movies than you.
Congrats to The Goldbergs and Schooled, I wonder what movies will get tribute episodes next season. Maybe they will switch it up and do it on a band. How cool would it be to see Adam, Barry and Erica pay tribute to the best trio ever The Thompson Twins!
BTW ABC also picked up The Bachelor and Dancing with the Stars too.
While several actors and crew members are sad today because their shows were cancelled, Constance Wu is sad because Fresh Off the Boat was picked up for another season.
After the news broke, she tweeted, “So upset right now that I’m literally crying. Ugh. F*ck,” and “F*cking hell.” Now, we do not know if she was talking about the renewal from those tweets. Then I checked her replies and she replied to someone who said it was great news by saying, “No it’s not.” Therefore, we know she is talking about her sitcom.
Which I think is so f*cked up on her part. She was nothing until this show. Yeah, she was one of the stars of Crazy Rich Asians, but she didn’t get an Oscar nom and neither did the movie. She might have had more movies in the works, but she was never going to be a huge star and now she never will be.
Go tell Oliver Hudson, Vicki Lawrence, Micah Fowler and the others how you feel. They all lost their jobs and you still have one. You are the weakest one on the show and I hope they keep you on to f*ck with you, you ungrateful bitch.
UPDATE: Constance Wu later tweeted, “Todays tweets were on the heels of rough day&were ill timed w/the news of the show. Plz know, Im so grateful for FOTB renewal. I love the cast&crew. Im proud to be a part of it. For all the fans support, thank u & for all who support my casual use of the word f*ck-thank u too😘” Do you believe her? I do not. I think she got yelled at by a lot of people and this her trying to save face.
Remember when Ellen Pompeo said that next season was going to be her last on Grey’s Anatomy. Well, she lied. That is because ABC announced today that they picked up the longest-running medical drama for two more seasons. Everyone keeps telling me, you cannot do Grey’s without Meridith Grey. Therefore, I guess, she is not going anywhere until at least after season 17.
Personally, I think they can do it without her. Although, I have only watched one episode this season and it was awful. I do not get why people love it so much. I only watched that episode because it was a crossover with Station 19. That firefighter drama I like, so I am happy it got renewed too. However, I am bummed they are going to do more crossovers with Grey’s. If they do too many, then I might have to quit Station 19.
Oh and ABC picked up How to Get Away with Murder too. That drama should be renamed How Not to Get Cancelled Even Though No One Watches. Too bad they didn’t tell For the People the secret because that is the one Shonda Rhimes show that will not be back next season.
UPDATE 1: ABC is not laughing because they cancelled The Kids Are Alright, Speechless, Splitting Up Together and The Fix. I am really upset about Speechless because it actually had a character with special needs played by an actor who has special needs. I felt that it was helping to normalize Cerebral Palsy, so its cancellation is a huge loss. The Kids Are Alright, like The Cool Kids, was hurt by a really bad pilot. It got better as the season went on.
NBC did not feel bad not picking I Feel Bad that also got hurt its pilot.
UPDATE 2: CBS cancelled Murphy Brown, Life In Pieces and Fam, but they picked up their safety sitcom Man with a Plan. Lethal Weapon was to much of a lethal weapon. ABC renewed Single Parents (I love this show), American Housewife, Fresh Off the Boat, The Rookie and the crappy Bless This Mess.
UPDATE 3: NBC has a blindspot for Blindspot because it will be back for one last season, while Star’s star has dimmed.
Vicki Lawrence announced today that Fox cancelled her highlarious show The Cool Kids. She wrote, “One last new episode of Cool Kids tonight. End of season 1, end of @thecoolkidsfox 😟 We have been cancelled. I’ve had a good #cry I’ll probably have another. I will miss #myboys” I will miss the four of them too. Even though, they had a crappy pilot, every episode after that got better and better.
Case in point, on tonight’s series finale at 8:30p. Hank (David Alan Grier), Charlie (Martin Mull) and Sid (Leslie Jordan) are going to celebrate their friendiversary and decide not to include Margaret (Lawrence). When she finds out that Sid was not their first choice, she decides to tell him. He gets all catty with his BFFs and joins the cat lady group with Margaret. She realizes he is better with their old friends and comes up with a plan to reunite them all. That is when it gets really funny. So funny, I scared my cat when I laughed out loud. And she did not even mind all the cats they had on the show. Oh and I don’t want to spoil anything but Jamie Farr has the most outrageously hysterical moment of the night.
I am sad this show is ending because it really made me happy every week. Unlike Last Man Standing which has not been as good on Fox. Could be because I hate the new Mandy, She is not as endearing as the original one. Like tonight’s episode, she is not ready to move out and her parents are doing everything in their power to get her to move. It is not like she is moving that far away. She can visit all the time.
The Cool Kids was not the only show to get the dreaded axe on Fox. They also pulled the plug on The Passage. I had to look up what show that was because I could not remember what it was. Do you?
When it comes to celebrity couples, I thought that Rhea Pearlman and Danny DeVito were going to make it until death us do part. I was wrong because the couple separated after 30 years of marriage in 2012. I honestly thought they reconciled, and again I was wrong.
Yesterday, when she was on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen she cleared up their relationship when a caller wanted to know how the exes remain so civil to each other. She said that they talk and see each other all the time. In fact, they still love each other even though do not live together anymore.
Will they get a divorce? She had a great reaction, “What for?” Is it wrong for me to hope that someday maybe they will get back together? I have loved their love for each other since they played lovers on Taxi.
