Things not looking good for Brave and DC’s Legends of Tomorrow
November 16th, 2017 under NBC, The CW. [ Comments: none ]

NBC announced today that we will be saying goodbye to This Is Us’ second season on March 13th. On that night Rise, the high school musical, will debut at 10p. The next week, it will take over This Is Us’ timeslot.

They also announced that Good Girls will be taking over Brave’s timeslot starting on February 26th. Which sounds like the military drama is not getting the back 9 which pretty much means it is cancelled.

Talking about military dramas, still no word on The CW’s Valor which looks like it too will not get the back 9 unlike Dynasty which surprisingly did. Last night’s episode proved that nighttime soap did not deserve a full season pickup.

But The CW still has a lot of shows to slot like iZombie, The 100, The Original and Life Sentence. One show that does not have to wait to find out when it will premiere is Black Lightning. That show will take over DC’s Legends of Tomorrow timeslot of Tuesday’s at 9p. They also said LoT will be back sometime in February on a new night, but they do not know when. Let’s be honest losing Victor Garber and Wentworth Miller at the end of the season, sign’s the show’s death certificate. I say hold the remaining episodes for the summer and let the other dramas air instead.

Here is when their shows will be back after holiday hiatus. Valor is back with original episodes on Monday, January. Crazy Ex-Girlfriend returns with new episodes on Friday, January 5. Supergirl is brand new starting Monday, January 15. Riverdale and Dynasty are back with original episodes Wednesday, January 17. Supernatural and Arrow will make their January premieres Thursday, January 18. Jane The Virgin comes back with new episodes Friday, January 26. Both Valor and Crazy only have 13 episode seasons, so it is logical that two of the five unslotted show will take over their timeslots.

Confusing? Thankfully, we know have DVRs, OnDemand and apps to help us when we miss an episode or two.

Young Sheldon finds love, There’s Johnny is as lovable as Johnny Carson
November 16th, 2017 under Chuck Lorre, Hulu. [ Comments: none ]

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8l6p3zDrPes
Tonight at 8:30p on CBS, Young Sheldon falls in love with something that he didn’t know he loved.

The episode starts off with Young Sheldon (Iain Armitage) choking on a piece of sausage and nearly dying because of it, and because of that he is afraid to eat solid food. After a few weeks, his mom (Zoe Perry) and dad (Lance Barber) decide he needs to go therapy. While his parents are talking to therapist, he has to wait in the waiting room. He picks up a comic book, something he thought was stupid, and is immediately hooked. So much so, he walks out of the office to find more, and his parents don’t know where he is gone. Where did he go? How will his parents react? You just have to tune in to find out.

That and to see the toll Sheldon’s quirkiness causes for his older brother (Montana Jordan) and twin sister (Raegan Revord). Thankfully, they have Meemaw (Annie Potts) to talk to about it.

This show has proven to be a sweet comedy that CBS has so desperately needed since they cancelled Still Standing. I still miss that show.

Over at Hulu is There’s Johnny. This is the story of 19-year-old Andy Klavin (Ian Nelson) who lives in Nebraska with his parents who are big fans of The Tonight Show starring Johnny Carson. He decides to do something special for them and writes a letter to the talk show host asking for an autograph photo and a job.

Then the strangest thing happens, he gets both in the mail. Therefore, he gets on bus and travels to Burbank, Ca. When he gets there, he finds out the show doesn’t actually tape at 11:30p when he arrives at the gate. In his hand he is holding the letter he got from the show, and by some chance of fate the wind blows it into the show’s soundstage. He goes inside and falls asleep.

The next day, he is woken up by Roz (T’Keyah Crystal Keymáh) who tells him the job was all a big misunderstanding and they will pay for his bus ticket back to corn country. Thankfully Joy Greenfield (Jane Levy) walks in at that exact moment and tells Roz she needs a runner. The feisty 24-year-old, whose dad is a big agent, takes him under wing. While introducing him around, he meets the writers who ask him a question that makes it on to the show. Freddie the Executive Producer (Tony Danza) sees something special in the kid, and offers him a real job this time.

From that moment on, luck keeps on working out for this wholesome kid. Joy finds him an apartment and a car. Even when it seems like he is screwed, his niceness seems to save him from the worst predicaments. It is those screw ups that make this sweet kid find a way into your heart instantly. Same for everyone around him.

There’s Johnny takes place in 1972 and they use file footage from the original talk show. On the premiere episode, we see Johnny interview the late great George Carlin and in episode 2 he chats with a young Albert Brooks. Not only that, you see Johnny save Ed McMahon’s butt when a segment goes wrong. They intertwine the current filming with the file footage so smoothly, you almost think they are actually happening at the same time and not 45 years apart.

If you love late night television, you will adore seeing the behind the scenes madness. If you are not a fan of the genre, you will enjoy a show where the little guy keeps on winning. It is the feel good retro show about comedy you have been longing for and did not know it. It is worth subscribing to Hulu just for There’s Johnny. A show I read that EP Paul Reiser says cancelled the network SeeSo where it was originally set to air before Hulu thankfully saved it.

You can binge watch the whole first season on Hulu now.

Imagine John Lithgow as Fraiser Crane?
November 16th, 2017 under Andy Cohen, John Lithgow. [ Comments: none ]

When we think of Fraiser Crane, we think of Kelsey Grammer playing him. Turns out the role was not written for him, it was actually written for John Lithgow. The actor confirmed it when a caller asked him about it on Watch What Happens Live the other night.

He told Andy Cohen, “It is true and I don’t tell people in deference to Kelsey. If I had accepted that role nobody would have ever heard of Fraiser Crane. He is the one who made it into an incredible phenomenon.”

Then he explained why he turned it down, “At that point, at my life, like episodic television was beneath my dignity and look at me now.” In 1984, he became a huge star because of The Day After and Footloose and had several films due out. Therefore, his mentality about that makes sense.

Does he regret his decision because that character lasted 20 years and earned Grammer several Emmys. The Trial & Error star said, “I envy his affluence. But had I done that, I never would have done Third Rock from the Sun. And that was the best 6 years I ever had.” Proving everything happens for a reason because Third Rock was a much show TBH!

Now that you know he was the person that producers envisioned for the role, can you imagine him playing the doctor?

Whose offspring is this year’s Golden Globes Ambassador?
November 16th, 2017 under The Rock. [ Comments: 1 ]

Several celebrities’ children have been Miss or Mister Golden Globes throughout the decades like Melanie Griffith, Laura Dern, Joely Fisher, Freddie Prinze, Jr, Dakota Johnson and Rumer Willis to name a few. This year they are changing up the title and The Rock’s daughter Simone Johnson will be the first Golden Globe Ambassador.

The proud pop had this to say to say about his oldest child, “We’re extremely proud and thankful for this moment. Congratulations to our daughter @simonegjohnson on being selected as the very first #GoldenGlobes AMBASSADOR.

“Thank you to our friends and colleagues of the #HFPA for recognizing her value and voice.
An amazing and cool honor to rep our community and the #Globes75.
So much alofa and pride Xo D,”

Meanwhile the 16-year-old wrote, “finding words to describe exactly how i feel right now is a bit hard. thank you thank you thank you. thank you to the HFPA, my parents, and everyone else who has helped this all come together. I feel so blessed to be a part of this incredible journey and be known as the first Golden Globe Ambassador. #Globes75 @goldenglobes.” It almost sounds like she is giving the perfect speech at the awards gala instead of just handing out awards on January 7th.

Congrats to DJ and Simone! Next up, we need to get Dwayne Johnson to host one of these big awards shows. He is a natural and so freaking lovable! Who doesn’t love the college football player turned professional wrestler turned actor turned Sexiest Man Alive?

Do Salma Hayek and Richard Gere have something to tell us?
November 16th, 2017 under Do they have something to tell us?, Reba McEntire, Salma Hayek. [ Comments: none ]

Salma Hayek shared what looks like an awkward photo of Richard Gere hugging her, so do they have something to us? She does and this is it, “With my friend Richard Gere wishing him good luck with his film Norman.” Now I just want to know why she looks uncomfortable in the photo? Who would not want to get hugged by the Officer and Gentleman because he gets sexier by the year.
