Trey Anastasio busted for DWI and no driver’s license
December 15th, 2006 under Arrested, Mug Shot, Phish. [ Comments: none ]

Former Phish frontman Trey Anastasio was arrested in December 2006 by upstate New York cops for driving while intoxicated and illegal possession of a variety of medications (Xanax, Percocet, and Hydrocodone) prescribed in someone else’s name. Anastasio, 42, whose real first name is Ernest, was nabbed by Whitehall police just miles from the Vermont border following a traffic stop. He was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance, DWI-drugs, and driving without a license.

The Smoking Gun

I wonder if he was heading to the Ben & Jerry’s factory to get some Phish Food ice cream?
And poor guy could only get a paper plaque for his mug shot. Doesn’t his picture look more like a driver’s license photo than a mug shot?

ABC renegs on the addition episodes of Show Me the Money
December 15th, 2006 under ABC, William Shatner. [ Comments: none ]

ABC has decided to shut down production and pull the plug on the six additional episodes it recently ordered of the William Shatner-hosted game show, Show Me The Money. ABC confirmed Friday morning it currently has seven more episodes of the show already in the can, and as of now plans on finishing that run and airing those episodes through January, but has decided against the additional order. The show averaged just a 1.6 rating/5 share in the adult 18-49 demo Wednesday night at 8, hitting a new series low and falling 16% from its previous airing. ABC had announced earlier this month it would pick up six additional episodes and move the show to Tuesdays at 8 beginning January 2. That is the timeslot in which the remaining installments will run in January. Show Me The Money is produced by Endemol USA.

I love William Shatner, but even I was not tempted to check out this show.

What’s up with Liza Minnelli’s eyebrows?
December 15th, 2006 under Liza Minnelli, No makeup. [ Comments: 2 ]

A certain estranged husband is known to favour the tattooed look where his eyebrows are concerned. And now it seems Liza Minnelli is following in former flame David Gest’s footsteps. At Heathrow airport on her way to New York the former star of Cabaret sported thick arched lines where her eyebrows should have been. The bizarre look gave the impression Miss Minnelli’s eyebrows had been either painted or tattooed on. But the star’s decision to fiddle with her brows may be more than just a cosmetic malfunction, according to leading plastic surgeon Alex Karidis. He told how many older women have their eyebrows painted or tattooed on when their real ones start to droop. Mr Karidis said: "The brow is very important, it frames the whole face and when women age it can start to droop along with the skin. "This is why many older women have their eyebrows shaved off and fake ones tattooed or painted in high above the eyes. It can make the whole area look younger and firmer." He added: "Liza Minnelli was famed for her high, thick arched brows but it is inevitable they would start to fall slightly with age making the eyes look older."

Daily Mail (Thanks Michael)

She needs to sue who ever did that to her.

Is Beyonce’s dad trying to ruin Jennifer Hudson’s career because she didn’t sign with him?
December 15th, 2006 under Beyoncé, Dreamgirls, Jennifer Hudson. [ Comments: none ]

The supposed rift between Beyoncé Knowles and her Dreamgirls costar, Jennifer Hudson, may have been greatly exaggerated. Rumors have been swirling that Beyoncé is miffed because Hudson is the movie’s obvious breakout star for her role as powerhouse vocalist Effie White. But sources told me today that Beyoncé has always known Effie was a showier role than Beyoncé’s own soft-spoken Deena Jones. "Beyoncé is a confident girl," a pal tells me. "She doesn’t get jealous of people." So, where did these rumors get started? It sounds like Beyoncé’s father, Matthew Knowles, may be to blame. I’m told things soured between the Knowles family and Ms. Hudson because Daddy Knowles tried unsuccessfully to woo the former American Idol contestant as a client to his Houston-based Music World Entertainment management company. "He tried to sign her halfway through production of Dreamgirls because he wanted to be her manager," my source says, "but Jennifer turned him down. That’s when things really went south." Although Hudson already had management during this time, a source tells me Matthew has recently told some people he’s actually been managing her "for a while now." "He walks around saying he’s her manager, and everyone is like, ‘No, you’re not,’ " a source says. In other words, it doesn’t look like Beyoncé has a problem with Hudson getting so much of the Dreamgirls attention. It looks like it’s Daddy’s bruised ego that’s causing the ruckus. I’m told that Daddy was so insulted by her refusal to sign with him that he demanded the movie be re-edited to lessen Hudson’s screen time and boost Beyoncé’s. He argued that his daughter was being shortchanged but was rebuffed by the studio and the filmmakers. In one meeting with director Bill Condon, I’m told, Beyoncé’s mom, Tina, went into a "tirade" about how he ruined the movie for her daughter. "It was supposed to be her Oscar role," Tina hissed, according to a source. Matthew and Tina Knowles did not return calls by deadline. As for Beyoncé and Hudson, a source close to Dreamgirls says they get along just fine. "It’s the dad," the source said. "He’s just like Curtis, Jamie Foxx’s character in Dreamgirls." All the drama aside, today was a good day to be a Dreamgirl. The movie nabbed five Golden Globes nominations. Two for Beyoncé, one apiece for Hudson and Eddie Murphy and another for Best Picture in the musical or comedy category.

Is it just me or does that sound like something he would do?
