Fox is doing a big FU to his fans. Yesterday, they cancelled The Last Man on Earth, Brooklyn Nine-Nine and The Mick. Today, they followed it up by doing the same to Lucifer and Exorcist. I could care less about the latter, but the former really hurts. It was a thrilling show with a great ensemble cast that played off each other well. To top it off, the show’s EP Joe Henderson wrote, “We created a season finale with a huge cliffhanger so that there was no way Fox could cancel us. Instead, we’re going to frustrate the hell out of you fans. I’m so sorry for that. #Lucifer.” I think of all of the shows this is the one that has the best chances of getting picked up by someone else. On a positive note, they revived Last Man Standing.
The CW was very nice to me today because they picked up iZombie for a fifth season. Which completes all of their renewals and cancellations. CBS, on the other hand, did not pick up or cancel anything today.
Over NBC they cancelled the heartfelt Rise that they did not do enough to promote. They also gave bad news to Great News. They were also not brave enough to renew Brave.
ABC like every year goes cancelling crazy because I do not think they know what they are doing. They picked up Speechless, Black-ish, American Housewife, Fresh Off the Boat, Splitting Up Together, For the People, Station 19 and How to Get Away Murder for another season. But they cancelled Designated Survivor, Deception, The Crossing, Kevin (Probably) Saves the World, The Inhumans, Quantico and Alex, Inc. Basically, they cancelled all the dramas that are not produced by Shonda Rhymes. What type of world do we live in that the fake president gets impeached before the real one? Kiefer Sutherland is a much better president than the one we have now.
As my DVR has a huge party, I am crying tears for all the shows I lost today. Doing a Marlon Brando, “Stella” scream but replacing it with all the shows I lost. And there were a lot.
Even though Stella survived cancer, her show Life Sentence will not live to see a second season. Lucy Hale broke the news on Twitter today, “I was emotionally attached to this story and to everyone involved so I am a little shell shocked right now, but I feel fortunate that we got to tell a really beautiful story.”
It really is a beautiful story that, like her, I wish could have continued. Sadly though, people were not watching this heartwarming family drama. That is what made this show so wonderful, it was about a family who truly loved each other during the good times and the bad ones. I guess people would rather watch the murder of the week, than a well-written heartfelt drama. Their loss and ours too.
At least we have a few more episodes, Fridays at 9p, to enjoy before it goes to TV heaven
UPDATE: The CW has also cancelled the military drama Valor after one short season.
We are a week away from television upfronts and the networks are starting to announce which bubble shows will be back for another season.
NBC picked up their midseason drama Good Girls for a second season. Which was kind of expected after watching the above cliffhanger. And that ain’t got nothing on the one that Timeless will give us Sunday night. Translation, they better renew that show too.
The CW which already picked up almost all of their shows decided to add another one to that list. That show is The 100 which will be back for a sixth season.

Last week on Life Sentence, Aiden (Jayson Blair) and Stella (Lucy Hale) were arrested and tonight at 9p on The CW he finds out his fate.
The Abbott family rallies together to help Aiden out of his mess while dealing with their own. Stella and Wes (Elliot Knight) are still trying to figure out where their relationship stands after she told Dr. Grant (Riley Smith) that he understands her better than her husband. When the couple winds up at the same bar that the doctor is playing with his band, everything comes to head. You’ll never believe what happens next?
Lizzie (Brooke Lyons) and Diego (Carlos PenaVega) have their own problems because the school wants to leave back one of the twins. They do not know what to do, so Diego is asking anyone and everyone what they think?
If that is not enough, things are not looking good for Aiden. And being sentenced to jail is not the worst thing that will happen to him tonight.
Did I mention Stella lost her job at the coffee shop because of the arrest? She is going to do everything in her power to get her job back, but the manager does not want to give it to her.
Tonight is not a good night for the Abbotts, but at least they still have each other. Or do they? You don’t want to miss another great episode of the heart-warming show you should be watching. Why aren’t you watching?

Tonight at 9p on The CW, Wes and Stella have a new problem in their marriage, his ex. Will it end their Life Sentence together?
Wes (Elliot Knight) has been working nights and Stella (Lucy Hale) has been working days, so they are out of synch. She decides to plan a trip to Paris to get their love back on track, but a knock on their door changes everything. Pippa, his ex, has come to visit and she reveals a big secret about her breakup with Wes. One that will change their marriage forever. Could the news be so big that it will end their 6-month marriage?
Meanwhile, her dad (Dylan Walsh) is dealing with his new girlfriend, who has much more energy than him. His son, Aiden (Jayson Blair), has been keeping the secret that he and his dad’s girlfriend slept together a few months ago. When Aiden accidentally reveals that information to his mom (Gillian Vigman), he begs her to keep it quiet. She is so jealous of her husband’s new girlfriend, even though she has one of her own, she might not be able to keep it. How long will Aiden’s secret one?
I do not know why you are not watching this show because it is full of heart, it is hard not to heart it. Therefore, I implore you to check it out.

Also at 9p but over one USA. we see a young Louis and Harvey on the show for two different reasons on Suits.
Louis (Rick Hoffman) has regrets over sleeping with Shelia, who is about to marry another man, because he is not a bad boy. Something that has haunted him since he was teen. He will remember his teen years and we will see how it all started. As he looks into his past, it will change his future. What that means you will have to tune in to find out how.
Meanwhile, Jessica (Gina Torres) tells Harvey (Gabriel Macht) she needs $2 million dollars and she needs it now. There is only one person he can get the cash from and he will have to give up something very personal to him. Something from his past that he loves more than everyone in his life now. Is he ready to do it?
What made this episode different is we get to see a different side of our two leads. By looking into their past, we understand their present even more. After nearly 8 seasons, I like that Suits can still surprise us.
