In the old days, the weirdest thing people put on pizza was pineapple. That was then. This is now. The chains are selling Philly Cheesesteak pizzas, Buffalo Chicken pizzas, and so on.

And now, Pizza Hut is testing out one that has pickles on it. The new Pizza Hut Pickle Pizza starts with a hand tossed crust, sauced with Buttermilk Ranch, and topped with cheese, crispy breaded chicken breast seasoned with a kick of Nashville Hot Seasoning, sliced white onions, and then loaded with spicy dill pickles and a drizzle of Buttermilk Ranch to finish it off.

“We’re always looking for innovative ways to add new tastes and textures to our dishes, and pickles have been gaining popularity due to their versatility,” says Penny Shaheen, Head of Food Innovation, at Pizza Hut. “With our new Pickle Pizza, we’re tapping into the latest food trends while also putting culinary thought into how they come to life on a pizza. Our recipe is all about great flavor, balancing the tanginess of pickles with other classic ingredients we know taste good on our beloved pizza.”

As of now, the Pickle Pizza will only be available at select stores in Manhattan through the weekend. Hopefully, it does really well, and they expand it nationwide because I love pizza and pickles. And it is all about me.

John Stamos was seen delivering a pizza to Richard Marx’s house, so has the actor hit hard times?

Not as of yet. But depending on how long the Writers’ Strike goes on, he and many others in Hollywood will be. So let’s hope the studios and the Writers Guild of America come to a resolution quickly.

That, and Marx remembers to tip his delivery people. Otherwise, it will be a hazard to him. Plus, he doesn’t want to mess with Uncle Jessie because he might get the singer fired like he did the Olsen twins and their replacements on Full House.

Pizza parlors have gotten creative with their crusts over the years. There have been crusts stuffed with cheese, made out of pigs in the blanket, and the list goes on.

Well, Little Caesars has topped them all by making the crust out of corn on the cob. And it even comes with a 2-liter bottle of melted butter. Does it sound like something that only happens in your dreams? That is because it is an early April Fool’s Day joke.

It is their way of letting us know they are bringing back the pretzel crust for a limited time.

Seriously, could they not have thought of a less corny way to do it? I can’t believe my advertising teachers told me I would never make it in advertising, but these guys did. Where were their teachers to crush their Crazy People dreams?

Are you trying to cut down on carbs but still be able to eat pizza? Then Papa Johns just turned your dieting nightmare into a dream. That is because they got rid of the crust and are selling everything you get on top of it in a bowl.

“We are very excited to offer Papa Bowls as a new menu category and as a new way consumers can experience our premium ingredients,” said Scott Rodriguez, Papa Johns Senior Vice President of Menu Strategy and Product Innovation. “Our signature crust continues to be a beloved favorite, but we know that sometimes customers crave something different. We want them to know we are committed to delivering on all of those cravings through our menu.”

On Monday, they have three different bowls joining the menu for $7.99 each.

• Italian Meats Trio features signature pizza and alfredo sauces, layered with Papa Johns signature pepperoni, sausage, meatballs, green peppers, onions and tomatoes. Topped with three melty cheeses and sprinkled with Italian seasoning.
• Chicken Alfredo features creamy alfredo and garlic parmesan sauces and juicy grilled chicken, complete with spinach, mushrooms, onions and tomatoes, then topped with a melty three cheese blend and Italian seasoning.
• Garden Veggie includes spinach, mushrooms, onions, green peppers, tomatoes and banana peppers baked in a bowl with Papa Johns signature pizza sauce and garlic parmesan, covered in three melty cheeses and topped with Italian seasoning.

Part of me is curious about the bowls because sometimes I wonder what crustless pizza tastes like. But is it really pizza if there is no crust? Are you willing to find out?

Domino’s wants to pay you to come into their stores and pick up the pizza you bought online. So, they are offering you a $3 tip if you do carry out. That $3 can be used the following week to buy any of their menu items that come to a total of over $5.

“It takes skill to get pizza from a Domino’s store to your door,” said Art D’Elia, Domino’s executive president-chief marketing officer. “As a reward, Domino’s is giving a $3 tip to online carryout customers who take the time and energy out of their day to act as their own delivery drivers. After all, we think they deserve it.”

So if you get a pizza next week, then you can use the coupon for the Super Bowl!

Since I live less than two blocks from a Domino’s, this is a very dangerous deal for me. I might be eating pizza every day now between now and May 22nd, when the offer ends.

BTW Does walking two blocks take off all of the calories I am going to get from the buffalo wings? Asking for a friend.
