Every year, when the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame announces their nominees, I am like, “WTF are they thinking?” This year, I am shocked to say they did a good job on who they nominated for 2026.
Who are the nominees? They are: The Black Crowes, Jeff Buckley, Mariah Carey, Phil Collins, Melissa Etheridge, Lauryn Hill, Billy Idol, INXS, Iron Maiden, Joy Division/New Order, New Edition, Oasis, P!NK, Sade, Shakira, and Luther Vandross.
I hope they induct Phil Collins because I am not sure how much longer he has. I know that sounds bad. But they missed out on inducting The New York Dolls when one of them was still alive.
They also better induct Billy Idol because the people spoke last year, and they wanted him. And they are going to want him again this year.
When it comes to the rest, Sade is the only one who I think is not worthy.
Who do you think should join the Hall of Fame this year?
Genesis was supposed to be getting ready to go on tour next month, but then COVID-19 happened. Now their 2020 tour has been moved to April 2021. Yesterday, Tony Banks, Mike Rutherford, and Phil Collins started rehearsing together.
This is the first time they are hitting the road since the Turn It On Again: The Tour in 2007. It will not just be the three of them, Nic Collins (Phil’s son) on drums, and long time lead guitar and bass player Daryl Stuermer will make them a quintet.
Too bad, Peter Gabriel won’t get over himself and join his old mates on the road. Although, I doubt Collins would want to share the mic.
Do you want to see them live and in concert? I mean, at this point, I would see anyone live, including a Smashmouth, Color Me Badd, Spin Doctors, Nickleback ticket. That is how desperate I am for some live music. However, during normal times like 2019, I would totally be down for them. Sadly, we live in a land of confusion because of an invisible touch, and that means we can’t dance. Now that I think about it, Sussudio sounds like it could be the name of a virus that spreads in the air tonight. I know the last two are songs from Collins’ solo career, whatevs.
Remember the first time you heard In the Air Tonight by Phil Collins? You sat there in awe as you listened to the whole song. That was us, but will teens feel the same we as did? TwinsthenewTrend, who listen to a lot of songs for the first time on YouTube, finally gave this haunting tune a try. What did think? They were just like us. Proving the single is a timeless classic that effects everyone the same way. That drum solo still makes our pulses race, and as they said, wakes you up.
I loved watching them react to it because now we know what we looked when we closed our eyes and absorbed every note. There is just some kind of power to that song that sucks you in. It is nice to see it doesn’t get lost with the younger generation. I am sure their kids will feel the same way they did, and we did.
Now, who wants to tell them what everyone thought that song was about, and it isn’t. Collins’ brother did not die as someone watched him drown, and that man did nothing to save him. To hear what it is really about, then click here.
Back to the twins, like I said, they listen to lots of songs for the first time and record their reactions. What songs do you want to see them do? I would love to see them listen to Meat Loaf’s Paradise in the Dashboard Light and Corey Hart’s Sunglasses at Night.

Before Phil Collins was playing the drums with Genesis, he was touring with Flaming Youth. What a head of hair he had back when he was 19 in 1970.
Yesterday, Genesis announced that they are going on tour again for the first time in 13 years. After the announcement, they shared this photo of themselves sitting on the couch.
To me, it looks like Phil Collins, Tony Banks, and Mike Rutherford will be living up to their song We Can’t Dance. I hope they are not In Too Deep with their plans and can keep performing Tonight, Tonight, Tonight.
Then again, it could just be because that couch has the Invisible Touch and it is just so comfortable, they all sank into it. Who hasn’t done that?
