Season 2 of Chilling Adventures of Sabrina looks like it’s going to be on fire!
March 18th, 2019 under Archie Comics, Netflix. [ Comments: none ]

To me, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina was the surprise hit of 2018. I was expecting it to be absolutely dreadful and crap on the original series’ legacy; but in turn, it was a million times better than the sitcom.

That was season one and looks like season two is really going to light things up. It will be as witchy as Melissa Joan Hart is in real life. Too cold?

Back to the magical show, get your brooms ready because it is back on April 5th. I cannot wait to see the half mortal/half witch, to show them how it is really done!

Finally, still, my only problem with this Sabrina is that Salem doesn’t talk! That is my only complaint.

Is this why Netflix cancels shows like One Day at a Time and Disjointed?
March 15th, 2019 under Netflix. [ Comments: none ]

Netflix seems to renew more shows than it cancels. When they do cancel a show with big stars or that are critically acclaimed you have to wonder why. Why did they pull the plug on shows like One Day at a Time, Disjointed, Fuller House and The Good Cop?

It seems time was not on their side. Andy Dehnart from Reality Blurred tweeted, “Producers who’ve worked with Netflix tell me that it’s obsessed with how much a show costs per minute. That’s why we get unnecessarily long episodes; longer ep = lower cost per minute.”

Meaning since sitcoms run about 25 minutes, Netflix will consider them more expensive than a show that runs 60 minutes. Now we know why Glow is said to be on the chopping block after every season. Also, a drama like The Good Cop that clocked in 45 minutes, in their eyes, costs more than a drama that takes up the whole hour.

Which means if you want your show to last on Netflix make it as long as possible and then make it even longer than that. That might explain why Arrested Development makes their episodes over 30 minutes long which is rare for a sitcom.

This might not be the case, but it makes a lot of sense. It also explains why they picked up Lucifer and Designated Survivor and not The Last Man on Earth.

Netflix is no longer taking it One Day at a Time
March 14th, 2019 under Netflix, Rita Moreno. [ Comments: none ]

Fans and critics are obsessed with the reboot of One Day at a Time on Netflix, but there were just not enough people who were watching the sitcom that stars Justina Machado and EGOT winner Rita Moreno as a mother and daughter who are trying to make it one day at a time.

That is why today, the streaming service announced, “We’ve made the very difficult decision not to renew One Day At A Time for a fourth season. The choice did not come easily — we spent several weeks trying to find a way to make another season work but in the end simply not enough people watched to justify another season.”

Executive Producers, Mike Royce and Gloria Calderón Kellett, responded to cancellation with a message for their small loyal viewers. They wrote, “Last night, Netflix told us they are cancelling One Day at a Time.

“We had the time of our lives making this show. We worked with the
best, most giving and talented cast, writers and crew ever, as well as
the incomparable Norman Lear. So while our hearts are very heavy
they are also bursting with appreciation for this amazing experience.
And for all of you. All of you who told us how much One Day at a
Time means to you. We’ve worked on many shows, but never have
we experienced the outpouring of love, connection, and support like
we have with ODAAT

“Along with our studio Sony, we will be exploring other places One
Day at a Time can live, and with any luck we’ll find one. Either way
our three seasons will always exist and be there for you and for us.
In the meantime we want to thank everybody who watched.”

Since Netflix is the goto home for cancelled shows like Lucifer and Designated Survivor, it will be interesting to see if they can find someone to save the show that was killed by Netflix.

The news is not a surprise because Calderón Kellett tweeted a month ago that the show was in trouble and asked the fans to rally for the show. Which they did. Sadly it was just not enough. What is not enough for Netflix will hopefully be enough for someone else.

Santa Clarita Diet makes me smile
March 11th, 2019 under Drew Barrymore, Netflix, Timothy Olyphant. [ Comments: none ]

I grew up with Horror movies and show, but yet I have never been a fan of Zombies. There are just a handful that I can actually stand to watch. Santa Clarita Diet is one of them. Therefore, I have been hungry for new episodes.

Today, Netflix announced they are serving up a whole new season on March 29th. Looks we are going to love it as much as Joel (Timothy Olyphant) and Sheila (Drew Barrymore) love each other. Which might give a whole new meaning until death we do part.

One Day at a Time’s third season is a real charm!
February 8th, 2019 under Netflix, Rita Moreno. [ Comments: none ]

One Day at a Time is back on Netflix now and the third season is full of laughter, tears and plenty of heart. Most importantly it is full of love.

ODAAT begins its third season with a funeral. Not Lydia’s (Rita Moreno) because she survived her stroke she suffered in the second season finale, and her granddaughter, Elena (Isabella Gomez), will make sure she stays that way. Which is going to prove hard to do at the funeral when Lydia sees her sister (Gloria Estefan) who she despises. The two will finally bury their differences over their dead relative. How long will that last?

As the season goes, we will meet more family members like Penelope’s (Justina Machado) long lost brother, who is her mother’s favorite, and Schneider’s (Todd Grinnell) dad (Alan Ruck). Schneider wants his dad’s love and approval so much, he will do anything to please him. This will cause him to choose between his real family and the ones that accept and love him for who he is.

Talking about love, Penelope and Schneider find love again. Not with each other, but with other people. Penelope is hesitant at first, but then she gives in. Schneider hides his true self from his girlfriend, what happens when she finds out? Then there is Elena, who is experiencing all the things you do with your first real love with her girlfriend. Something that will get in her in a lot of trouble. She is not the only one who gets in trouble, Alex (Marcel Ruiz) gets caught vaping and Penelope goes ballistic on him.

Penelope is having issues with her emotions as her depression returns. She realizes one of her children is showing the same signs of depression. The two will help each other through these tough times. Soon they will find happiness at a wedding. That’s right someone is getting married!

Meanwhile, someone’s past comes back to haunt them and they are going to need a lot of help. Will they be willing to accept it? And then there is Leslie (Stephen Tobolowsky) the gringo, who reminds everyone everything is going to be OK. That is why they keep him around.

Although that is not why Netflix keeps this heartwarming show around. One Day at a Time has a die-hard fan base who truly love this sitcom. Watch one episode and you will find out why. By the time you reach the third season finale, you will feel like you have been part of this family forever. They have real problems, problems you can relate to and they do it in a way that makes you love them with laughter. There are not that many shows that are special as this one, so spend the weekend binging the series. It is too cold to do anything else. I promise, their admiration for each other will warm even the coldest of cities and hearts.

Why are you still reading this? Go watch it now.
