Kelly Clarkson has a new talk show and she had some huge guests on it today. They are Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul and the dog Randy Jackson. Three people who have been with her since the start of her career back in 2002 on a little show called American Idol.
That was an interesting year for all of them and they talked about what it was like working on the singing competition before it aired. Cowell said the auditions were so bad he thought the show was going to fail. He went back to London and had no idea when the show was going to debut in the States. The day after it premiered, he got a phone call telling him the show was a hit. Cowell really thought it would be on for two weeks and then be done. Jackson felt the same way, but Paula knew it was going to be a hit. Who is the smartest one in the trio?
Although the boys would try to make Abdul look crazy and dumb on the judging panel. They would play a game they called The Name Game. Cowell would say to them, you can have x amount of time on Rodeo Drive with his black card if they said certain words like “spotted dick” on the air.
The had a lot of fun working together, as you can see, would they do it again? In a heartbeat. If I were ABC, I would fire those three judges they have now and replace them with this set. Then I would watch American Idol again.
One thing I will never watch again is From Justin to Kelly. I am not alone because Clarkson really hates the film. In fact, the singer told her nanny if she ever shows it to her two kids, that person would be fired. What would it take to get Clarkson to remake it? If Cowell did it with her. He would do it in a small role.
Talking about that film, whatever happened to Justin Guarini? He also was on the show and talked about how he landed that Dr. Diet Pepper commercials. However, he did not say if he would do another From Justin to Kelly. I would watch a sequel, wouldn’t you?
Seeing them all together makes me miss how good Idol was before they added the fourth judge. That is when the show went downhill.

One of the sappiest songs ever recorded is Extreme’s More Than Words. This season the coaches of The Voice harmonize that tune together. Can a Popstar, a Country boy, an R&B artist and a Country Popstar get the melody down as one coherent group? That is what Gwen Stefani, her boyfriend Blake Shelton, John Legend and Kelly Clarkson attempt to do with Carson Daly on guitar.
How did they do? Surprisingly. the love song worked for the American Idol winner and the one who won an EGOT. However, it was not made for the couple’s voices. They came off as really nasally. It made question if the No Doubt singer can sing without the help of a producer if you know what I mean?

Kelly Clarkson’s has a Monday-Friday job now. What better way to let everyone know about the Kelly Clarkson Show than by singing Dolly Parton’s classic tune 9 to 5. Not only that she made a music video to go with the show stopper. Well, it was actually for the beginning of the show, but you know what I meant.
I love that she opens every episode with a cover, I cannot wait to see what she does next. She did a great job with Lady Gaga’s Bad Romance today. She can sing anything. Which can be why she will always be the original American Idol. Well, that and she was the first winner for the singing competition.

Today was the day that The Kelly Clarkson Show debuted and they had the perfect person to call out her name. Someone who has done it before in a very memorable way. Of course, that person is Steve Carell. Sadly, this time he screamed out her name without getting his chest waxed. That would have been the cherry on top for me. But then again, I am a sadist and that is my favorite scene in the movie.
When it comes to the talk show, it was a good first show. She did a great job interviewing The Rock who filled in for the injured Kevin Hart. Plus, she had some cute interactions with her neighbors, This Is Us and America’s Got Talent. I think the show has a long future ahead of it.

Instead of being hungover this morning, she was drugged. Since it was the good stuff, I am sure she does not mind.
Now let’s talk about her commitment to making sure the show went on. If you see Clarkson in person, bow down to her because she is a Queen. Not that many people would have performed in that condition. Things we learned from season 1 of American Idol, she is not like most people. Plus, as bad as the pain was this go around, it still had to be less painful than filming From Justin to Kelly. There are not enough drugs to dull that pain.
One that won’t be painful is her new talk show in the fall. For some reason this makes me want to watch it more. I bet you she will be the #1 talk show host by the end of the season.
