2003 was Clay Aiken’s year. He went from being a special education teacher to coming in second (it should have been first) on American Idol.
Because of his success, Rolling Stone asked him to be on the July 20th cover of their magazine that year. The singer struck a pose, revealing some of his belly skin.
That was almost 23 years ago. Now, he is recreating that pose to show off his weight loss. And the 47-year-old is looking like he did when he was 24.
In 2005, Bo Bice competed on American Idol, and he placed second behind Carrie Underwood.
Back then, contestants stayed in the public eye after their season ended. But as time went on, he slowly disappeared from the public eye.
Last year, he appeared on Idol to support the woman who beat him and is now a judge on the show, and to celebrate the 20th anniversary of their season.
However, after that appearance, he went into hiding. Today, he explained why and also shared a photo of what he looks like now, at the age of 50!
1. Out of pain and embarrassment of my broken failing teeth due to years of Crohn’s issues, Stomach Acid eating away at my enamel and Stomach Surgeries changing my palate and septum.
2. Lost 89lbs, so I can move around like I use to on stage and feel better, sharper and stronger from the lighter weight.
3. Cut the hair from tail length to the short haired country boy look again. A lot lighter and I’m saving on shampoo & conditioner.
4. Stopped drinking caffeine. I went from 3 cups of coffee and 5 cokes a day to only water and juiced fruits, vegetables, vitamins.
5. Donated the XL/L clothes and I’m 30/30 Pants, MED Shirts again. Everything fits and looks on spot.
6. Writing and practicing more than I have in years. The faucet is in full flow again and inspiration has returned to well.
7. I’m off of all but 1 of the medication that held me captive for the past 7 years as I worked through the changes, transitions, tribulations and turmoils that come at all of us.
He is also drug and alcohol free, and feeling better than he has felt in a decade. So, he plans to have a comeback in 2027! Good luck to him.
It has been twenty years since we were introduced to Carrie Underwood and Bo Bice on American Idol’s fourth season. A lot has changed since then.
They both had musical careers after the singing competition ended. However, Carrie’s career led her back to the show that made her famous.
So yesterday, Idol had a surprise for their fourth winner, who is now a judge on the series. They reunited her with the man who came in second to her!
They are no longer in their twenties, but they still look like they could wow audiences with their versions of Inside Your Heaven. I’d love to hear them do a duet with that song.
Kelly Clarkson and Clay Aiken were reunited on her daytime talk show yesterday, and they got to catch up. However, the first American Idol forgot something about her old friend, a very important thing.
What is it? While sharing with the audience that they spent a lot of time together, she said to her friend, “We toured after you won [American Idol].”
There is only one problem: he didn’t win. Ruben Studdard did. Whoops!
Luckily, they share such a special bond in which he didn’t get upset about her mistake, and she didn’t get mad when he corrected her on air.
That is what happens when you have been friends with someone for 21 years. The little things don’t bother you!
However, on a side note, I had a friend who I didn’t talk to for a year because I thought that Clay should have won and she was like Ruben deserved it.
