Production is just starting up in Hollywood, and America’s Got Talent is one of the very few shows that is back on the job. New judge Sofia Vergara gave us a glimpse of what it will look like when they get up to the Judges’ Cuts episodes. Now, Howie Mandel is showing us what the production meetings look like with him and his fellow judges Vergara, Simon Cowell, Heidi Klum, and host Terry Crews.
Instead of sitting in a conference room at a table, they are in an empty sound stage on chairs that are 6′ apart. Another big difference is that they are all wearing masks. I am sure they wish that Cowell was donning the one that Hannibal Lecture wore in Silence of the Lambs.
Back when the coronavirus pandemic hit America hard, America’s Got Talent was filming new episodes. Just like everything else in Hollywood, it got shut down.
Since Simon Cowell is an innovator, he came up with an interesting way so that they can continue doing the show during COVID-19.
How are they going to do it? The first big difference, seen in Sofia Vergara’s photo, is that there is not going to be an audience. Instead of taping inside a studio, they are doing it outside on a lot. The judges, Cowell, Vergara, Howie Mandel, and Heidi Klum, are not sitting behind a desk, instead, they are sitting in directors’ chairs.
When it comes to the stage, it looks that they are replacing itwith a huge screen so that the acts don’t have to come to Hollywood until they do the live shows. If they do come to Los Angeles, that is.
I am impressed with what they did. I wonder if Dancing with the Stars and The Masked Singer will follow this format in the fall?
I am not sure when these episodes will air. However, tonight on NBC at 8p, you can see Eric Stonestreet fill in for Heidi Klum, who was out sick with something that was not the corona.
Long before we were all washing our hands every few minutes, Howie Mandel already had that covered.
Even though we think we know what we are doing; we don’t. That is why Mandel is teaching a MasterClass of how to wash our hands properly. Each move has a name, and the America’s Got Talent judge demonstrated them on Jimmy Kimmel Live yesterday. I might not have been doing most of them, but I was always doing the sex on the beach one. Figures that would be the one I knew how to do.

During this time of social distancing, we have to be creative when it comes to finding a dance partner. Howie Mandel got really imaginative when it came to his. He used a mirror for his salsa distancing. Get it?
Mandel asks, “Mirror, mirror on the wall. Who is the greatest dancer of them all?” She says, “It is Simon Cowell, I want to take to the ball.”
You know, he should consider auditioning this act on America’s Got Talent. I am sure he would get the golden buzzer…from himself. Although, I don’t think he would want to hear what Sofia Vergara has to say about his movies.
On Tuesday, Heidi Klum was not able to tape America’s Got Talent because she went home with a common cold according to NBC sourced.
Since the show must go on (while it can until the Coronavirus shuts it down), they brought in Eric Stonestreet to replace her. You know, because he is practically her twin.
He is lucky, his Modern Family co-star Sofia Vergara is a judge on the show now. I am sure she helped to convince Simon Cowell and Howie Mandel to give him the job.
