The lights on Broadway have been dark for over a year now, and the whole community wants to get back to work. The fastest way they can do that is if they all get vaccinated. Therefore, Mayor Bill de Blasio and Lin-Manuel Miranda opened up a location just for them to get the COVID-19 vaccine in the Theater District.
When Stephen Colbert heard this, he and the Late Show writers reworked Hamilton’s song My Shot for the occasion. I am normally not a fan of Colbert’s work, but this is f*cking brilliant. It is enough to make King George III go mad. And not in the angry sense.
BTW My Shot was on my vaccination playlist when I got the first injection. Now, I am going to add this song to it for when I get the second shot in 11 days. It is not like I am counting or anything.
Luke Bryan found out the hard way that margaritas do not kill coronavirus. That is because he tested positive for it.
“I’m sad to say I won’t be a part of tonight’s first live @AmericanIdol show,” Bryan wrote. “I tested positive for COVID but I’m doing well and look forward to being back at it soon.”
Since the show must go on, it will. “Luke will be missed at our first #AmericanIdol LIVE show tonight, but he is resting now in quarantine at home and we’re wishing him a speedy recovery,” American Idol wrote in a statement. “We’re so excited to announce @paulaabdul will be stepping in as a guest judge to join Lionel Richie and Katy Perry as we get closer to crowning a new winner!”
Abdul was the first judge to leave the singing competition when it was on Fox. It will be interesting to see how much things have changed since she left the show in 2009.
I am so curious about how Abdul will do. I might actually watch it. Are you going to check it out too?
Wolverine might be indestructible because of his healing ability, but Hugh Jackman is not. Therefore, today he went and got the COVID-19 vaccine. Now, he is one step closer to being like his X-Men character.
I wonder if he told the woman giving him the shot, X marks the spot. I am here all week, folks.
Jackman and I have a message for all of you, get the vaccine. On that note, when you get it, bring a shot glass with you and tell them you are there for your shot. Maybe you can get two for the price of one.
Back in September, Gimme a Break’s Lauri Hendler took part in the clinical trials for the COVID-19 vaccine. Yesterday, she posted a photo of herself because they asked to come back for another shot.
“Number three,” the actress wrote. “Now I’m testing out a booster shot that may or may not be adjusted for one of the #covid19 #variants.”
I am not surprised that they are doing more studies. I expect that we are going to have to get a shot every year like the flu shot. That is fine, as long as it protects us from coronavirus.
When it comes to the shot, I got the Pfizer one on Easter. Besides some chills and arm soreness, it wasn’t that bad. In fact, I had fewer side effects with it than I did with this year’s flu shot. Therefore, you should get it. Please, get it.
When it comes to Hendler, thank you for sharing this information with us, and even bigger thanks for taking part in this study.
One last note, can we talk about how gorgeous she looks! She gets better with age.
I don’t know about you, but I still don’t know which vaccine I want whenever I finally qualify to get it. They each have their positives and negatives. What to do?
Thankfully, Jeff Wright, from Late Night with Seth Meyers, came up with a simple video that explains the different vaccines in a way we can understand. The only thing he forgot to mention is that Dolly Parton helped fund the one that sounds like murder.
BTW If I was Seth Meyers, I would hold on to Wright extra tight. That is because this bit proves that he is going places. Peacock, come and grab him like you did Amber Ruffin. He is funny as all hell, and I need to see more of him.
