Don’t cry for James Corden because Any Dream Will Do

Who says you cannot go home again? Definitely not James Corden who is doing a week of The Late Late Show over in his native London. Since he has been over in the States, he has added a bunch of new bits that the Brits do not know about like Crosswalk the Musical.

If you are going to do a musical production near the West End, then you have do something from Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber. How can you do just one? You cannot, so the CBS host did a number from four of his biggest musicals. And did I mention the musical genius was there to witness it all on the streets of London. Not Mr. Sheffield, but Mr. Webber.

They started it off with Don’t Cry for Me Argentina from Evita, and no one was crying until the light turned green. Next up was a song from Cats, the most overrated musical of all time. For their traffic stopping number they did something from Phantom of the Opera with a surprise guest. As we know, many a dreams are made on the Great White Way, so you have to end it with Any Dream Will Do from Joseph and the Amazing Techicolor Dreamcoat. Although, I prefer Go, Go, Go Joseph or Joseph’s Coat.

Anyways, there were so many great moments, but the best one was when a dog walked by them when they were dressed as Cats. It was the only hiss they heard all day, but there were plenty of boos. Not because of the production numbers but because no one likes to be stuck in traffic anywhere in the world. Even if they are getting a free show.

John Legend to play another legend!
December 19th, 2017 under Andrew Lloyd Webber, Chrissy Teigen, John Legend, NBC. [ Comments: 1 ]

On April 1st aka Easter Sunday, NBC is going to air Jesus Christ Superstar Live in Concert, and today they announced who is going to play lead. John Legend is the superstar who will play Jesus Christ. He is second person cast in the live musical from Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice, last week they revealed that Alice Cooper will play King Herod.

Even though Legend is playing Jesus, the real stars of the Rock Opera are Judas and Mary Magdalena, so I am more curious who will take on those roles that require a really powerful voice. You try belting out those tunes in the shower and see how long you can before your voice breaks.

What’s the fuss? Alice Cooper joins NBC’s Jesus Christ Superstar!
December 8th, 2017 under Alice Cooper, Andrew Lloyd Webber, NBC. [ Comments: 1 ]

On my birthday aka April 1, 2018 or as Christians call it Easter Sunday, NBC is going to air Jesus Christ Superstar and today they announced who will be playing King Herod. That fun role is going to The Godfather of Shock Rock or we know him as Alice Cooper. Even though he looks like he worships Satan, he actually grew up in the Church because his father was a preacher. Therefore, this is perfect for him!

Personally, I would have gone with David Hasselhoff because I think of King Herod as cheesy and well, you can see where I am going with that thought. When it comes to Jesus, I would go with Josh Groban because he kind of looks like the messiah. Jason Derulo could really surprise us as Judas because he has a powerful voice. Talking about powerful voice, you really need one to belt out I Don’t Know How to Love Him. Thus, I would cast either Rita Ora or Ariana Grande. But that is me. Who would you cast in the Andrew Lloyd Weber musical?

Fun Fact: Zero Mostel’s son Josh played King Herod in the motion picture version. I did not know that until today.

One more fun fact: Alice Cooper record King Herod’s song in 1996 (xoxo Michael), so he can do this part blindfolded! To hear his version, then click here!

Cats is no longer a memory on Broadway
January 21st, 2016 under Andrew Lloyd Webber, Broadway. [ Comments: none ]

After a 16 year hiatus, Cats is returning to Broadway this summer. The Andrew Lloyd Webber musical used to be the longest running show on Broadway, and now it has a chance to reclaim that title if The Phantom of the Opera ever closes.
So if you have never had a chance to see Cats, skip it. It sucks.

Phantom of the Oprah!
December 10th, 2009 under Andrew Lloyd Webber, Jimmy Kimmel, Oprah Winfrey. [ Comments: none ]

Yesterday on Jimmy Kimmel Live, he had a preview for the sequel to Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Phantom of the Opera, Phantom of the Oprah! After watching that preview I can’t wait to see it! I especially can’t wait to hear the Tom Cruise I’m Bouncin’ song in its entirety.
In all seriousness, my hats are off to the writers of JKL! for coming up with a such a brilliant bit and the actors for executing it so perfectly!
Tonight at 12:05a on ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live, he will be interviewing Steven Seagal.
