Bonnie Raitt suffers a ‘medical situation’, and postpones several concerts
April 30th, 2023 under Sick Bay. [ Comments: none ]

Bonnie Raitt, 73, has been on the road for a year with the Just Like That tour. However, she is forced to take off May due to an undisclosed medical situation.

Bonnie has a medical situation that requires surgery to address. The doctors say that in order for her to heal properly, they recommend she not perform for a couple of weeks. Unfortunately, this overlaps our five tour dates in May, and we are very sorry to have to cancel our performance at Brandi Carlile’s Mothership Weekend on May 14th and postpone our shows in Athens, Louisville, Indianapolis and Pittsburgh.

We deeply apologize for this delay and inconvenience. It’s always upsetting to have to disappoint her fans, band, crew and our promoters, but sometimes unforeseen things just happen. Thankfully, Bonnie’s in great hands. She was so looking forward to these shows, but we’re excited to be able to resume our 2023 tour, now kicking off in Dublin, Ireland, June 1st.

Thank you for your well wishes and understanding, and we very much appreciate your respecting her request for privacy at this healing time.

Hopefully, she will be better by then because she is playing almost every day in June on two different continents. I am nowhere near as old as her, and I can’t even imagine doing that.

Days of our Lives’ Victoria Grace rescinds her Daytime Emmy nom
April 29th, 2023 under Emmys, TV Soaps. [ Comments: none ]

On Wednesday, the Daytime Emmys announced their nominees, and there is already a lot of controversy going on for the Outstanding Younger Performer category.

It sounds shocking, but it is true.

You see, in the last few years, they changed the age eligibility from 25 to 21 to 18, which it is now. However, the people submitting didn’t know that.

Therefore, 21-year-old Victoria Grace made an announcement yesterday. “I was honored to be nominated for a Daytime Emmy and to be recognized by the Academy. Unfortunately, there was a huge misunderstanding across the board regarding the rules for this year’s category. This is obviously a surprise and I am heartbroken, but in fairness to all, I’ll be rescinding my nomination,” the Days of our Lives actress wrote. “I wish the best of luck to all the nominees. I will continue to work hard to earn another Daytime Emmy nomination next year!”

While she has opted to rescind her nomination, 19-year-old Eden McCoy doesn’t sound like she is going to do that. “Oh am I supposed to be embarrassed by my nomination now? Shame on anyone tweeting that,” the General Hospital star wrote in response to a now private Tweet. “Regardless of the changing rules in the Younger Performer category, I stand by the quality of my work in ANY of my years at GH (going on 8 btw). My two prior nominations were in years where the category was 25 and under. Multiple talented actors my age who did amazing work submitted this year, and these ‘kids’ whose work you are t were nohminated ahead of them. I’m proud of Henry and Cary. Your lack of respect is what’s embarrassing. The facts are that everybody earned what they got. Do better.”

Personally, I think the Academy fucked up. They should have checked the ages of the actors they were nominating before they nominated them. Then, none of this would be happening. Since they fucked up, they should keep the category’s nominees, including Days of out Lives’ Cary Christopher and The Bold and the Beautiful’s Henry Joseph Samiri, as it was on Wednesday. And next year, do better.

The Valley Girl cast and crew reunited for the 40th anniversary
April 29th, 2023 under 80s, Reunions. [ Comments: none ]

Forty years ago today, a little movie came out called Valley Girl. And it created a movement around the country. Girls all over the U.S. started talking like actresses, shopping at malls, and hoping to date a punk like Nicolas Cage or Cameron Dye. It was like totally cool!

And you know what else is also totally cool is that several of the cast, musicians, and crew came out to Mann’s Chinese Theater to celebrate the milestone this week.

Here is come out to watch and talk about their film: Deborah Foreman “Julie”, E.G. Daily “Loryn”, Cameron Dye “Fred”, Heidi Holicker “Stacey”, Colleen Camp, “Sarah”, Lee Purcell “Beth”, Christopher Murphy, “Ralphie”, David Ensor, “Skip”, Joanne Baron “Prom Teacher”, Tony Plana “Low Rider”, Josie Cotton, Performer “Johnnie are you Queer”, “He Could be the One”, David Pahoa, Performer/Bass Player The Plimsouls; “A Million Miles Away”, “The Oldest Story in the World”, and “Everywhere at Once”. Lou Ramirez, Performer/Drummer The Plimsouls; “A Million Miles Away”, “The Oldest Story in the World”, “Everywhere at Once”, Tony Markes “Brad”, Camille Calvet “Allyson”, Gary Myrick, Musician “She Talks in Stereo”, “Time to Win”, and filmmakers Martha Coolidge, Director, Andy Lane, Writer/Producer, Eva Gardos, Editor, Scott Wilk, Music Composer.

Don’t they all look groovy to the max? So like, awesome!

Now, I am going to rewatch the movie and remember why I moved to the Valley when I moved to L.A. Yes, I saw that movie and said I wanted to be Valley Girl. And imagine how disappointed I was when no one talked like they did in the film. It wasn’t until my niece started school that she started talking like one, and I would imitate her. And she would get mad at me for doing so. But I like didn’t care. Because I was so happy to have someone to be all Valley with! Too bad she lost the accent, but I still have it.

A mini Everwood reunion!
April 28th, 2023 under Treat Williams. [ Comments: none ]

It has been 20 since we got to know Treat Williams and Tom Amandes as rival doctors in the small town of Everwood.

Even though Dr. Brown and Dr. Abbott hated each other on the small screen, it was the opposite in real life. And that is why they still hang out after all of these years.

Seeing them together makes me wish we could go back to Everwood for more episodes because four seasons was not enough.
