If you thought that James Corden was in every movie musical that has come out in the last decade, then I have some bad news for you. He is going to have a lot of extra time to star in as many as he can starting a year from now. That is because he is leaving The Late Late Show next Spring.
“It’s been it’s a really hard decision to leave because I’m so immensely proud of the show. I’m thrilled to be extending [for a year],” Corden told Deadline. “I always thought I’d do it for five years and then leave and then I stayed on. I’ve really been thinking about it for a long time, thinking whether there might be one more adventure.”
It will be interesting to see if CBS will replace him or do something else with the hour. They might even opt for it to be paid programming or repeats.
Personally, I think they will give that hour back to the affiliates unless talk shows have a renaissance in the next year. So many got canceled this year because of the cost of the pandemic and lower ratings. So I really wouldn’t be surprised if they opt to cut their losses with this hour of broadcast.
I hope they continue to do a talk show because they are becoming a dying breed. But I would not be surprised if they don’t.
I just think they are not going to want to invest in promoting someone new as the host of The Late Late Show. It is going to cost a lot of money, and it is going to take a long to get it back. Unless they go with a big name, but would that person want to do a talk show at 12:35a every weeknight? Time will tell.
On May 5th, Mike Myers is back doing what he does best, and that is playing several different roles in one series. Since it has been a long time since he did that, he is going to be making up for lost time in The Pentaverate. The actor will play not one, not two, not three, not four, not five, not six, not seven, but eight new characters in the Netflix comedy.
They are:
Ken Scarborough: An old-school Canadian news journalist who sets out to expose the Pentaverate and win his job back
Anthony Lansdowne: A New England conspiracy theorist, determined to expose the Pentaverate
Rex Smith: A far-right radio host and highly prominent conspiracy theorist
Lord Lordington: The Pentaverate’s oldest and highest-ranking member.
Bruce Baldwin: Former media mogul
Mishu Ivanov: Ex-Russian oligarch
Shep Gordon: Former Rock-N-Roll manager
Jason Eccleston: A tech genius who invented the Pentaverate’s supercomputer, MENTOR
Since it is not a one-man show, he will be joined by Rob Lowe, Jennifer Saunders, Ken Jeong, Keegan Michael-Key, and Debi Mazar throughout the six 30-minute episodes.
It might not be the fourth installment of Austin Powers, but it is a much-needed hold-over until then.
Yeah, baby. We got our baby back, baby back, baby back ribs. Sorry, I had to do it.
Yesterday, Variety posted an interview with Andrew Garfield about what a year he has had with his acting career. In the article, the Oscar nom says he is taking a break because he says, “I need to just be a bit ordinary for a while.”
Well, lots of outlets assumed that meant that he was going to take a lot of time off, which would be completely understandable. I mean, in the last year, we saw him in Tick Tick Boom, The Eyes of Tammy Faye, Spider-Man: No Way Home, and Under the Banner of Heaven.
Today, when he was on The View, they asked him long his break will be for, and it is not as long as it was assumed. “I’ve been working hard, and I’ve been loving the work I’ve been doing,” he said. “I need to take a month or so. A month of a break, maybe two.”
Garfield earned that time off. But no more than that. We need as much of him on the screen as we can get because he is one of the best actors in his age group.
Brandi Carlile was supposed to perform at Stagecoach tomorrow, but she had to cancel. That is because she got COVID-19.
In a video to her fans, the singer says that she is suffering from a chest infection due to it. She also revealed that she has had it for a few days, and today she is feeling a little better.
What she is not feeling better about is missing the festival. So she concluded her message with, “I hope you have a wonderful time out there with my freaking friends.” I am sure her freaking friends will be missing her.
Get well soon.
While Carlile will not be able to attend, she can watch her freaking friends on YouTube because they are streaming it live.
