On Friday, when ABC announced that they were renewing Fresh Off the Boat, Constance Wu said it was not a good thing. Her tweets made her the most hated person. Even more so than Jussie Smollett. She tried to say by the show being picked up for another season, it meant that she could not do a role that was more challenging for her.
Ever since then, ABC has been radio silent, but today they had no choice but to respond to reporters on the Upfronts call. Karey Burke, president of ABC Entertainment, said, “There’s been no thought to recasting Constance.” Then she explained why “We love what she does on the show and we love the show. I did actually know that Constance had another opportunity that had Fresh Off the Boat not gone forward, she would’ve pursued. But we never really considered not bringing back Fresh Off the Boat. The show is just too strong for us and we love it.”
Maybe since Wu has nothing to do during her hiatus, she will take some acting lessons. This way she won’t play Jessica so one-dimensional. She is the weakest actor on the sitcom. She could learn a thing or two from her TV husband Randall Park who is one of the funniest guys on television.
BTW I am glad they are not recasting her. Maybe it will teach her lesson in humility. Tiffany Haddish, who we can agree is a much much much bigger star, signed on to do a remake of Kids Say the Darndest Things for ABC. All while still making movies people see. She knows what it means to be grateful for work.
The World is a lot less funny because Tim Conway passed away yesterday at the age of 85 from complications of Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus according to People.
Conway was always the funniest person in the room, ask anyone who worked with him. When I asked Betty White who was the only person who could make her break and she told me it was Tim Conway. No one would crack up more than his scene partner on The Carol Brunet Show, Harvey Korman. You almost felt bad for Korman but then you would think he got to experience Conway’s humor better than anyone.
Conway is most known for The Carol Burnett Show, but he was always acting. He appeared o several talk shows, The Shaggy DA, McHale’s Navy, The Apple Dumpling Gang, Married…with Children, Spongebob Squarepants, Hot In Cleveland and so many more.
No matter what he did, he made us laugh until we peed our pants. Today, honor him by laughing. Let out laughter lift him up to heaven where he can torture his good friend Harvey Korman again.
Anjelica Huston was on Watch What Happens Live yesterday and Andy Cohen asked her to play Plead the Fifth. Since she is an open book, she agreed to play.
When asked which co-star gave her the first worst impression, she said it was Bill Murray when they worked on The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou. He threw a dinner party on the first day and invited everyone but her. The actress said he redeemed himself as production went on.
When it came to the second question, she pled the fifth and would not reveal which famous actor she turned down.
For his third question, the Bravo host wanted her to describe Jack Nicholson, her ex of 17 years, as a lover. She turned to RuPaul and asked, “What is that d-thing?” Ru proudly said to her, “dick.” Cohen said that was only one word, she needed two more. Thus, she added, “very big.” Then she elaborated, “For the moment.”
However, after the game, she said the game “was really hard. And sort of inaccurate. But we won’t go into that.”

I don’t know about you, but I find Selena Gomez to be very one dimensional. However, in these three photos, she tweeted from her bed in Cannes, I see two other sides of her. She should be more playful like this more often. Being goofy works on her. Maybe she wakes up that way and then becomes boring as the day goes on? What do you think?
Jimmy Kimmel hinted when he signed his contract the last time that would be it for him. That was then and this is now. Today, ABC announced that he will be hosting Jimmy Kimmel Live for 3 more years. Bringing the late night talk show to its 20th year. What happens in 2023? We will find out then.
For now, we will just enjoy him torturing kids every Halloween and his Aunt Chippy until his contract is up again.
Seriously though, congrats to Kimmel and his team. They changed late night with viral videos like I’m F*cking Matt Damon and its follow-up I’m Fucking Ben Affleck. Along with many other things.
