The most powerful and most memorable moment from the Tonys last night was when the drama students from Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School sang Seasons of Love during the awards show. Today, those students and their teacher, Melody Herzfeld, talked about their big night on Today.
Mrs. Herzfeld said that moments like this, “Is a constant reminder. It is a repeat of everything.” Then she added, “Like even being invited here, brings all of that back again. When it has just gone away a little bit. And then it gets a little emotional again. It is not easy.” She knows that emotion because, on February 14th, she protected and hid 65 students in her classroom as a madman shot up her school in Parkland, Florida.
Kali Clougherty, whose high note sent chills through our bodies said, “It was actually a dream come true. I have been dreaming that since I was 8 years old.” Then she continued with, “I just graduated high school. I am not even on Broadway yet. I got to do what a lot of Broadway people haven’t even had to do yet.”
Even though her note will soon not be forgotten, it almost did not happen because she felt a cold coming on. But none of that matters when you have the audience and your classmates backing you up. It was their energy that caused her to break a lot of legs in Radio City Music Hall.
How long did they practice to make that performance so powerful? Two weeks, even though school ended a week into rehearsals. Who were they excited to see at the Tonys? A unanimous vote for Tina Fey, who I am sure was as wowed by them as we are of her!
Lastly, who do they have thank for their special night? Tanzil Philip, who asked to be part of Broadway’s big night. The Great White Way has done a lot for the students and the students wanted to give something back. That they did and I wish we could give them some more.

Yesterday was finally the night when it was the Kardashians vs the Wests on Celebrity Family Feud. We heard it was good, and I cannot believe I am admitting this, but it really was very good. Kanye West is a fan and it showed. He did not stop smiling from the beginning to the end of the ABC game show. Who knew he knew how to do that?
While it was a close competition, grandma Kardashian helped her family win the night. Khloe Kardashian says that there was a feud between the families; but when it came to Fast Money, they did something only a family would do. Khloe and Kendall Jenner (who gave the best answer of the night) let Kanye and Kim Kardashian play the round even though they lost.
Good thing they did because the first two questions were tailored for Kim. Which was a good thing because she says that she has been practicing for this moment in her bedroom every night. And here we thought she was practicing something else with Kanye in that room?
Anyways, the first question was, “On a scale of 1-10, how sexy are you compared to the people you work with?” Without hesitation, she said 10. And that caused Steve Harvey some hesitation, so he stopped the clock because he was laughing so hard. He laughed even harder when he then asked her, “Name a part of the body you’re always banging into things?” She gave a very Kardashian answer when she said, “butt.” Before it was revealed that no one else had that issue on the board, the game show host could not stop grinning. Especially, when she told him that her a$$ets cause her to knock things down. As if we did not already know that.
Anyways, the married couple got the 200 points needed to win Fast Money, Therefore, both families raised $25,000 for Childrens Hospital Los Angeles, so the hospital is the true winner. Well them and Kanye who had the time of his life.
When it comes to Kendall’s answer, they were asked if you were having a party where everyone is naked, who would you not want to show up? She said, “Donald Trump!” At least someone in that family is smart!
Bernadette Peters once again wowed everyone at the Tony Awards. but yesterday was the first time she did it as a woman in her 70’s. Can you believe that she turned the big 7-0 in February? Look at her, she has not aged a day since she started in show business 60 years ago. Well, she might have aged a little since she was 10, but not much! Seriously, isn’t she as gorgeous as her voice?
For Josh Groban this has been the year of Tonys. He started it off by filming the Netflix show The Good Cop with Tony Danza and on that series he will be playing Tony Jr. Tonight, he is hostings The Tonys. Which is why Netflix thought it would be a good time to announce when you can stream the whole first season of The Good Cop. Mark your calendars for September 21st because that is when it will debut.
If he is not dating a Toni and releasing a song named Tony this year, then he is making a big mistake. Maybe if he did, then he would actually win one of those awards that he sang about not having tonight during Broadway’s biggest night. That and he could get married if he wanted to. Don’t you agree?
