Patty Duke passed away today at the age of 69 due to sepsis from a ruptured intestine according to her agent Mitchell K. Stubbs.
Patty Duke had an horrendous childhood because of parents and her abusive talent managers, even though she had huge sucess on Broadway and on the big screen playing Helen Keller in The Miracle Worker at such a young age. In 1963, she landed the role of Patty Lane and her lookalike cousin Cathy in the sitcom The Patty Duke Show that still airs today in syndication on Me TV and other channels. In 1967, she starred as Neely O’Hara in the groundbreaking Valley of the Dolls. Throughout the years, she continued acting nonstop. She even starred in The Miracle Worker again, but this time as Keller’s teacher Anne Sullivan.
But her life was not easy, a very short lived marriage, alcohol abuse and eventually the diagnosis of bipolar disorder. That diagnosis saved her life and she brought awareness to it by talking about it on several talk shows. She wrote an autobiography called Call Me Anna, that is a must read, and starred in a movie of the week based on it. All of this brought bipolar disorder to the forefront and made people aware of it.
As the years went on she continued to talk about it and act constantly. Thirty years ago on March 15th, she married the love of her life Michael Pearce, moved to Idaho and had a son with him. She has two other sons that she raised with John Astin, Sean and Mackenzie Astin, both of whom are actors.
When I think of Patty Duke, I think of a woman who I revere first, and then the actress who I admire. She was so inspirational and someone Hollywood and the world will be talking about for decades to come because of the huge impact she left on it and left on us.
So today please honor this wonderful woman by watching one of her many great works to let her know that we will always love her. I know that is how I am going to spend the today.
Personally, I am sorry I have never met, but I am honored that was able to chat with her on the phone on more than one occasion. She was as warm as you would expect to her be.

James Corden goes Primetime, People v OJ listens to the Fuhrman tapes
March 29th, 2016 under James Corden. [ Comments: none ]

In honor of The Late Late Show with James Corden celebrating its first year on TV, CBS is giving him a primetime special tonight at 10p.
The Late Late Show Carpool Karaoke Primetime Special starts off with a longer version of that song and dance number. Then after the commercial break they re-air the one with Adele, followed by taking Grease to the crosswalk outside his studio, a Carpool Karaoke mashup, Corden getting a job as a real estate agent and finally getting in the car to sing with Jennifer Lopez. The late night host asks her if she insured her butt and also sends a text from her to Leonardo DiCaprio that gets her in trouble. Wait until you see how the Oscar winner responds to it.
While the whole special is not only Carpool Karaoke bits, it should help introduce him to people who are not familiar with his talk show. It will give them a taste of what his Late Late Show is all about.

Also at 10p but over at FX, it is the moment you have been waiting for on American Crime Story: The People v OJ Simpson. The Defense gets a tip that there are very incriminating tapes out there of Mark Fuhrman (Steven Pasquale). They contact the holder of the tapes, who interviewed him for a screenplay, and she refuses to give them up. F Lee Bailey (Nathan Lane) and Johnny Cochran (Courtney B Vance) go to North Carolina to ask the court to force her to release them. Eventually they win their case and the tapes are theirs.
Something they are excited about until they listen them. Turns out Fuhrman had horrible things to say about Judge Ito’s (Kenneth Choi) wife, who was his commanding officer, and that might mean that he will be forced to step down from the case.
Now, Ito needs another Judge to decide if he can stay on the case. Once that other judge rules that he can stay on the case, Ito now has to rule on the tapes. How much of the 13 hours will he deem to be admissible to the case? Enough to make Marcia Clark (Sarah Paulson) happy and Cochran pissed.
And what would be the point of all of this if we don’t get to see Fuhrman take the stand one more time. It is chilling scene you don’t want to miss. Actually, the whole tense episode is a must not miss. You truly get to see how race played a huge part in the case tonight.

RIP James Noble
March 29th, 2016 under Obits. [ Comments: none ]

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KJ8fCj2RReQ

James Noble passed away yesterday at the age of 94 according to The New York Times. He is best known for playing the lovable Connecticut Governor Gene Gatling on the long running sitcom Benson.
Even though he was born in Dallas, Tx, he died in the state that he governed on TV. Something that brought a smile to my face when I read the sad news. Every morning I wake up and watch Benson on Family Net and this show never gets old. In fact, it only gets better with time. A big part of this show’s sucess was not only the chemistry between the cast, but also the fact that you wanted Governor Gatling to be your Governor. He was fair and he cared, and Noble brought a warmth to him that made you love him even more.
So today let’s honor him by letting him hear our laughter as we watch him do what he does best.

A ’90s teen girl’s wet dream!
March 29th, 2016 under 90s, Backstreet Boys /Aaron Carter, Wet dream. [ Comments: none ]

Remember when you were little a girl and you dreamed about different members from your favorite Boy Bands getting together to form one band and creating a song that you could use to dream about them? Well, it might’ve taken 2 decades but it finally happened.
Backstreet Boys’ AJ McLean, Nick Carter and Howie D, *NSYNC’s Joey Fatone and Chris Kirkpatrick, 98 Degrees’ Jeff Timmons and O-Town’s Erik-Michael Estrada all got together to record the theme song to Carter’s Syfy movie Dead 7 that debuts on Friday night.
Even if the Zombie film is horrible, at least we got this perfect ’90s song out of it.

Geraldo Rivera just can’t keep his shirt on
March 29th, 2016 under Geraldo Rivera, TV News. [ Comments: 6 ]

Remember when Geraldo Rivera shared a shirtless Selfie of himself and you were totally grossed out by it? Well, yesterday as he was awaiting his elimination from Dancing with the Stars, he posted another one. This one is even grosser. Not because he is older, but because he does not look good as a blonde.
Thankfully, we won’t have to suffer through him trying to dance on the ABC competition show anymore.
