Sing-a-long with Glee this fall
August 6th, 2009 under Glee. [ Comments: none ]

The most sung about show this upcoming fall season is easily Glee and today the popular and talented cast and producers were in Pasadena to talk about the show we will all be singing about on Fox starting on 9/9/9! Here is what the told the choir of TV Critics at the Fox TCA day.

Directors cut of the pilot of Glee will air first before the season premiere
Song are related to theme of the Glee ep and come from the writer’s room
Glee will be more adult than High School Musical, but not cashing in on the HSM franchise
Glee is a comedy with music and dancing, while HSM is a musical
The key to Glee it has to be real.
The fake pregnancy is fun, but it’ll play out and it will be grounded. They say will be happy the way it plays out
Every song that they have wanted they got. Their budget is the same as other Fox’s their costs are music while the others are blowing up cars and building
Jane Lynch is having the time of her life. She is so happy and love what they have her say
Jane Lynch says she plays scheming and arrogant roles because that is who she is. Joking! She loves doing it
A huge wheelchair dance number coming to Glee. The show wanted a handicapped representive, so imp for Glee
A Glee soundtrack coming in Nov. Over 60 songs have been recorded so far in the first 13 eps

I don’t know what I’m more excited for now September 9th when Glee comes back on Fox or November when the soundtrack comes out? September because the songs are on iTunes. Talking about the songs they did not say whose tunes they will be singing this season. Knowing now that each song is related to the theme of each episode, I think it will be fun to guess what songs they will be singing as the ep plays on, Kind of a like a drinking game but more enjoyable because you are going to want to remember every minute of the darling Glee!!!

Get ready to laugh your a$$ with Fox’s Brothers on September 25th!!!
August 6th, 2009 under Michael Strahan. [ Comments: none ]

On September 25th Fox will debut the hysterical Brothers, a story about a former-Football player who moves back to the house he bought for his parents after his manager blows all his money and has to deal with his brother who hates him because he blames him for the car accident that left him paralyzed when he was in HS. OK, that totally does sound funny, but the show is. I have not laughed as hard watching a sitcom since I can’t remember. When I put the pilot in my computer on the plane, I thought the show would put me to sleep, but instead it re-energized me with laughter.
So today during the Fox TCA, I was curious to see if my excitement for the show would still be there after listening to the cast and crew talk about it and yes it is still there!!! Heck even more so! So here is what made me love Brothers even more.
The gap teeth jokes will keep coming

Brothers will handle Carl Weathers’ poss Alzheimer’s delicately
CCH Pounder says it is like riding a bicycle to get back into Comedy
Michael Strahan says the gap tooth is the elephant in the room. He knows it is funny cause his kids even make fun of it.
I didn’t know that Daryl Mitchell really was in a wheelchair when I saw the pilot. He was in a paralyzed in a motorcyle ax in 2001.
Daryl Mitchel says since the ax, he say people gave him a chance out of respect and roles were rewritten for him.
Michael Strahan says that best thing about playing Football for 15 years is he doesn’t have to work.
Strahan says he looks forward to Fox NFL Sundays because its fun and feel right
Daryl on non-wheelchair actors playing roles in a wheelchair. As you long as they can act he is fine. If they can’t produce then he has a problem
Someone called Carl Weather Mr Foreman. He laughed and said now I’m being promoted to George Foreman!!!
Carl Weather says Strahan and Mitchell are like his owns sons that are that age
Only Daryl aka Chill is allowed to write according to Carl Weathers. Strahan says some stuff is unrealistic, like an upcoming ep and a girl prefers Chill over him

How excited am I for Brothers, as huge as the gap between Strahan’s teeth and you should be too. So prepare to laugh your a$$ starting on September 25th on Fox!!!

RIP John Hughes
August 6th, 2009 under Brat Pack, Obits. [ Comments: none ]

John Hughes whose movies have become a rite of passage for teens since the mid-’80s passed away today from a heart attack at the way too young age of 59 according to The Hollywood Reporter. He died today while talking a walk in Manhattan.
Some of the movies he is most known for are 16 Candles, The Breakfast Club, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, Some Kind of Wonderful, Pretty in Pink, Weird Science and Home Alone. All movies that have shaped and will continue to shape teens forever. I still remember when I turned 16 and looking the mirror thinking just like Molly Ringwald, I still looked the same.
John Hughes us survived by his wife of 39 years, 2 sons and 4 grandkids. So sad.
So everyone go watch at least one of his movie tonight as an honor the brilliant cinematic legacy he leaves behind.

Fox will replace Paula Abdul’s American Idol’s shoes
August 6th, 2009 under American Idol 9+, Fox, Paula Abdul. [ Comments: none ]

Thirty-six hours ago Paula Abdul Tweeted that she was leaving American Idol and today two Fox Executives (Peter Rice and Kevin Reilly) had to answer what will happen to her slot on the show and what we can expect from the upcoming season on Fox!!! Here is what they said:
Paula's contract was the only whose contract was up.
They offered her a substantial amount and she said no.
Guest Judges at each of the upcoming auditions. Some are confirmed, some more talks. They will have female pop stars and artists
By January they will have a solution. Like who might be her replacement
They are sad to see her go. They say they are excited for the change and look forward to it because it will be a different dynamic
Paula is not coming back. The contract negotiations are done.
They say they will still have 4 Judges. They say it is live TV that lead to the tech issues.
They said that Dollhouse's ratings and Joss creativity is why the show is coming back
Posh Spice and Katy Perry are confirmed as judges for the American Idol auditions
On Ryan's salary, he is not getting $15 million from just Idol. It is from CKS.
They say Joss is having fun now with Dollhouse and they are looking forward to a second season
Kara's contract had an option and that is why the announcement came out this week
There is a negotiated deal with Futurama but they have not committed to air it
It is still fresh with Paula being out. And it wasn't until her manager went to the press that they thought they might lose Paula. None of the filli-ins as of now are not expected to be her replacement. There will be a search for a new Judge and they want someone who has a great chemistry with the old Judges to become the 4th Judge
They say chemistry is more important than someone who is a little controversy. Someone that gets along with the Judges and the contestants. They have 4 months to find what will make the show more fun.
When asked about the departure NBC's Ben Silverman, they thought they were asking if he would Judge on Idol…lol
As of now they don't want rotating Judges come January. They want someone more permanent But still the decision is months away.
They were hoping Paula would come back. They loved her and wanted her back. They need to look at the decision being made is a positive thing. Change is good. The show is about the contestants.
Poss for three Judges, but prob  will still be 4
Unlikely the final King of the Hill eps will air
It will be interesting to see who they will get to replace her for the auditions and then eventually for the show. Who do you think it should be?
BTW I am so looking forward to the upcoming season on Fox! Glee as we have seen is f*cking awesome, Brothers had me peeing in my pants and The Cleveland Show is the perfect spinoff for Family Guy!!! So check them all out when the premiere on Fox this Fall starting with Glee on September 9th, Brothers on September 25th and The Cleveland Show on Septmeber 27th!!!
