Another BB7: All-Stars pre-show alliance?
July 21st, 2006 under Big Brother- US. [ Comments: none ]

First it was Mr. And Mrs. Smith. Now, it is the Frightful Four? Already beset by rumours of a pre-game alliance between Jase and Diane (Mr. And Mrs. Smith), the ‘Big Brother’ series is now faced with another more devious union which was leaked on the 24/7 live feeds last night In a private conversation between James Rhine, the current Head of Household, and Will Kirby, the winner of Big Brother 2, it was revealed that James, Will, Danielle Reyes and Mike ‘Boogie’ Matlin had formulated a pre-game alliance before stepping into the ‘Big Brother’ house.During their conversation in the HOH room away from the prying eyes of the Jedi Council (Howie, Janelle and Kaysar), James and Will spoke about their pre-season telephone conversation and if Will was actually seriously playing the game or not."My goal is not to go to sequester. Next week, I will be somewhat nervous. You don’t need to feel weird about nomming me," Will told James while complaining that the producers told him All-Stars would be special and it hasn’t been thus far. "I was promised over and over by the producers that this would be huge," said Will."If you want to win, I will keep you off the radar," said James suggesting that using Will as a pawn to get Chicken George Boswell voted out would be great entertainment for the television show."Can we make some general agreement that if it comes to Week Five, you will kick me?," said Will expressing concern that he cannot be part of the sequestered ‘Big Brother’ jury because it would damage his current romance outside of the house and his dermatology practice.James assured him he would or at least make sure someone else did so they would appear as a hero for boldly taking out the Evil Dr. Will. James and Will laughed about that scenario.James and Will continued to share information. James told Will that Mike ‘Boogie’ has to do a better job with the HOH challenges. Will advised James to rein Howie Gordon in as he is throwing the Jedi Alliance wins in people’s faces by celebrating so often. On Friday morning, James and Mike chatted alone in the HOH room before anyone else woke up. James wanted to make sure Mike wasn’t worried about being nominated considering they have deal in the game."What I had to say, I said before we even played the game," replied Mike assuring James that he wasn’t fretting at all. James reminded Mike of the "gentleman’s agreement" that exists between himself, Mike, Will and Danielle. They will keep each other safe from eviction until it comes time to battle it out.

Dakota Fanning’s parents need to be locked up
July 21st, 2006 under Dakota and Elle Fanning. [ Comments: 1 ]

Cute-as-a-button child star Dakota Fanning, who turned 12 in February, is venturing into sexually disturbing territory in a movie being filmed in North Carolina. The screenplay for "Hounddog" – a dark story of abuse, violence and Elvis Presley adulation in the rural South, written and directed by Deborah Kampmeier – calls for Fanning’s character to be raped in one explicit scene and to appear naked or clad only in "underpants" in several other horrifying moments.Fanning’s mother, Joy, and her Hollywood agent, Cindy Osbrink, see the movie as a possible Oscar vehicle for the pint-size star. But despite Fanning’s status as a bankable actress – whose movies, including last year’s "War of the Worlds," have earned more than half a billion dollars since 2001 – the alarming material seems to have scared off potential investors from the under-$5 million indie project."The two taboos in Hollywood are child abuse and the killing of animals," a source close to the situation told me. "In this movie, both things happen."Fanning’s carefully choreographed rape scene has already been filmed. But then the production – which also stars Robin Wright Penn, David Morse and Piper Laurie – was shut down for lack of funds. Penn, who’s also an executive producer, gave a pep talk to the dispirited cast in the days leading up to the shutdown. The desperate producer, Jen Gatien, daughter of former club czar Peter Gatien, sent out an SOS to New York entertainment entrepreneur Lawrence Robins. Robins located emergency investors, filming resumed, and the movie is scheduled to wrap tomorrow."The subject matter is very tough," Robins told me, "but I was attracted to it because in the end it’s a story about human understanding, about a little girl who’s dealt a very bad deck of cards, but finds solace in the music of Elvis and survives."The script requires the preteen actress to confront tougher challenges than Brooke Shields and Jodie Foster did when, at Fanning’s age, they played child prostitutes."It’s not just the rape scene – the whole story is challenging Dakota as an actress," Fanning’s longtime agent, Osbrink, told me. "And I’ve never been so proud of her in my life. I’ve seen the dailies, and in every scene she gets better and better."

Lloyd Grove

This is child pornography. Dakota’s parents need to be locked up over this. This will f()ck Dakota up for the rest of her life. Look at all the anguish that both Jodie Foster and Brooke Shields went through in their lives for doing the same thing. Are her parents so desperate to live through Dakota to get an Oscar that they are making her do this? Then she should be taken away from them. She is an Oscar worthy actress and she will get that Oscar, but she does not need to do this. Just look at well Oscar nominations or wins at such a young age worked out for River Phoenix, Linda Blair, Tatum O’Neal and Haley Joel Osment.

Clooney and Soderbergh the romance is over
July 21st, 2006 under George Clooney, Movies. [ Comments: none ]

George Clooney and producing partner Steven Soderbergh have decided to close down their Section Eight production company, which they founded six years ago.  The Syriana star will officially part ways with Soderbergh on August 1 to launch Smoke House, a production company he is forming with his Good Night, And Good Luck collaborator Grant Heslov. Section Eight will continue to produce Clooney’s upcoming movies, including Ocean’s Thirteen and The Good German, both directed by Soderbergh. Soderbergh has said he would like to focus more on film-making and less on the film development and producing process.

IOL

I love Clooney, but man are his movies boring as all hell. And with Soderberg he is even more boring.

NBC TCA Updates
July 21st, 2006 under NBC. [ Comments: none ]

Ausiello just IM’d me live from the TCA Summer Press Tour that NBC entertainment president Kevin Reilly has ordered six scripts of Nobody’s Watching, a quirky 2005 WB comedy pilot that recently resurfaced on YouTube.com and concerns two young sitcom fans who wind up on a reality show. Also per Reilly: A Madonna concert special is coming in November; Thief’s Andre Braugher has been booked for a six-episode ER arc; and [Cue the Regis overkill] America’s Got Talent will return with a second season in January 2007.
I am scared to see what else America has to offer up for talent.
