Back in 1988, we fell in love with the ’60s again thanks to The Wonder Years. Now that everyone is getting a revival or a reboot, Vanity Fair asked Fred Savage if he would one based in the ’90s?
He does not mind you pitching him ideas for the reunion, but he says “No, it’s not going to happen.” Then he explained why, “You know, I’ve always said that The Wonder Years, it’s not just the name of the show—it’s a time in your life, a very special, finite time in your life. And the way the show was written, it’s about looking back with some longing. I think we all look back at that time in our lives and long for it and idealize it. One of the reasons it takes on this kind of mythic, almost haunting quality in our lives is because it’s something you can’t go back to and can’t revisit. It only exists in our memories, in our shared experiences with people who went through it with us. That’s really what the show was all about. And I think that the idea of revisiting the show mirrors that. And I like that.”
I think they could recapture that feeling again. Let us get to know the Arnold family in their future and our past. Plus, if they could revive Dan Conner for the Roseanne revival, why can’t they do the same for The Wonder Years for their patriarch. Would you watch Kevin Arnold again?
One of the most loved shows of the ’90s was Party of Five and The Insider wanted to know if Scott Wolf would play Bailey Salinger again after originating the role in 1994? He told them, “No!” Then he added, “But that’s depressing. So I will leave the door open and say ‘maybe’.”
Now having said that, he did reveal that he would “love to know how Bailey is doing.” Does that mean that he talked himself into it? Your guess is as good as mine with this his final thought on the subject, “But probably not anytime soon.” So there is a glimmer of hope.
The actor has been working nonstop starring in several television series like Everwood, V, Perception and The Night Shift since the Drama ended in 2000. On the latter show, he shared with the television entertainment magazine that one the originals will die this season. Will it be TJ? We will have to keep watching NBC every Thursday at 10p to find out.
Back to Party of Five, Wolf recently reunited with the Salinger house, to see the reunion then click here!
As soon as the trailer came out for the Ghostbusters reboot, everyone bashed it. Now a year later one of the original movie’s stars is bashing it.
Dan Aykroyd told Sunday Brunch on Britain’s Channel 4 that they spent too much on it. He said, “The director [Paul Feig], he spent too much on it and he didn’t shoot scenes we suggested to him. Several scenes that were going to be needed, he said, ‘No, we don’t need them.’ And then we tested the movie and they needed them, and he had to go back — about $30 to $40 million in reshoots.”
Sony told The Hollywood Reporter on the other hand said they only spent $3 to $4 million on the reshoots. The studio also said they were happy with the director even though, Aykroyd said, “it cost too much, and Sony does not like to lose money. It made a lot of money around the world, but it just cost too much, making it economically not feasible to do another one.”
UPDATE: Dan Aykroyd took to WhoSay to explain what he meant, he said, “”Paul Feig made a good movie and had a superb cast and plenty of money to do it. We just wish he had been more inclusive to the originators. It cost everyone as it is unlikely Kristen, Leslie, Melissa and Kate will ever reprise their roles as Ghostbusters which is sad.” He’s right, if they stuck more to the original there might be a sequel.
When it comes to the he said/she said, the loudest message that Sony sent out about this is that they cancelled their plans for a sequel. I think that says something, don’t you?
Last week, Netflix confirmed that they are bringing back Gilmore Girls for four more episodes. They also announced that Lauren Graham, Alexis Bledel, Scott Patterson, Kelly Bishop, Scott Gunn, and Keiko Agena will all be back, but what about the show’s most famous star Melissa McCarthy? Today, the lovable movie star and Emmy winner took to Twitter to answer if she is going to revisit Stars Hollow, and you are not going to like what she has to say. She said no one has asked her to put on Sookie’s apron again. I don’t know what the producers are thinking because she was my favorite person on the beloved drama. Without her, it just won’t be the same.
What do you think of her not being asked back?
Today, at the NBC TCA Summer Press Day, NBC’s Chairman Robert Greenblatt was asked how the Coach reboot came about. When he was done, he said, “And if that works, then ALF the series is next.” That news is the only reason why I want Coach to succeed.
Since ALF was unceremoniously cancelled, it ended with a cliffhanger and we never found out what Gordon Shumway decided to do. I would love to see the reboot continue and find out what the Alien Life Form did. My dream idea would be that ALF left on the spaceship to escape the military, but after giving it some thought he decides to return to Earth. He doesn’t realize how much time has passed and when he finally meets up with Brian, he’s shocked to find out his best friend is now older, married and a father. Brian has moved on since his friend deserted him and isn’t sure if he wants anything to do with his old pal.
I think it would be a hit, so why wait to find out how Coach does and greenlight the ALF reboot.
