Christmas is coming early on Saturday Night Live because Ariana Grande is hosting the final 2025 episode with CHER as the musical guest on December 20th. This has been the best combo since. I don’t know since! Kudos for making it happen. I just hope it doesn’t disappoint. Plus, you know they will do at least one skit together, and maybe another where Ariana does an impression of Cher. Maybe they can do a Freaky Friday thingy!
In other SNL news, Melissa McCarthy hosts as Dijon sings on December 6th. The following week, Josh O’Connor and Lily Allen do the same.
Fun fact: This is only the second time Cher has been a musical guest on SNL. The last time she belted out her songs on the variety show was 1987. And she hasn’t aged in nearly 40 years.
Oh, and not-so-fun fact for Cher: Grande wasn’t even alive in ’87; she made her debut in 1993. How Wicked is that?
Mike & Molly ended its six-season run on CBS in 2016, but the cast’s friendship never did.
Case in point. Several of the cast and crew got together recently and had lunch. Bill Gardell, Nyambi, Louis Mustillo, Rondi Reed, and Melissa McCarthy talked about all the good times they shared because, as Gardell said, they are “extended family.”
And that is why the show is still running in syndication. We could feel their chemistry through the small screen, and that is why we tuned in to watch all 127 episodes, both when it aired and in repeats on syndication.
The only thing that would have made this picture perfect is if Swoosie Kurtz, Katy Mixon, and Reno Wilson were there too.
Even though they were not, I always love seeing casts who still get along even though they have not worked together in a long time.
Baby Reindeer is one of Netflix’s most viewed shows. But would that be the case if Melissa McCarty played the stalker instead of Jessica Gunning?
That was almost the case because Variety reports Netflix and CAA really wanted her for the role, but Richard Gadd did not want her. And they added after she met with him, she “wasn’t interested.”
Gadd was reportedly so upset about CAA pushing her that he fired his agents with the agency.
I am happy that she was not part of the show because I don’t think we would’ve gotten past her being Melissa McCarthy. They needed to go with an unknown, and Gunning proved she was worthy of the role. She nailed the woman that the series was allegedly based on.
Melissa McCarthy attended the Center Theatre Group gala with Adam Shankman and shared a photo from the event on Instagram. The actress is looking a lot lighter these days, as in she lost some weight.
As soon as Barbra Streisand saw it, she asked, “Did you take Ozempic?”
Well, people were like, how can you ask that? Personally, I am glad she did because I thought the same thing when I saw recent photos of McCarthy.
Let’s be honest. When you see a celebrity who looks like they lost a lot of weight suddenly, you are thinking if they are on the drug. So why not admit it?
Oh, and Barbra has since removed the question. And McCarthy looks as beautiful as ever whether she is heavier or skinnier.
UPDATE: Barbra Streisand reacted to the backlash. “OMG -I went on Instagram to see the photos we’d posted of the beautiful flowers I’d received for my birthday! Below them was a photo of my friend,” she wrote. “Melissa McCarthy who I sang with on my Encore album. She looked fantastic! I just wanted to pay her a compliment. I forgot the world is reading!”
Melissa McCarthy is playing Ursula in the live-action version of The Little Mermaid. In order to do so; she was going to have to go under a major transformation.
Disney shared a video where we get to watch her go from the actress we know to the villain we wish we didn’t know.
What do you think of the Hollywood magic they used to bring her up from under the sea to go under it?
