Last week, The CW announced that they are once again working on Charmed reboot. Once again, Holly Marie Combs expressed her dissatisfaction about it. Some outlets have said it is because of two of the things that they have describe the reboot to include. They are feminism and lesbianism.
Yesterday, she took to Twitter and explained herself. She said, “I think I made it abundantly clear that I have a few issues with the reboot. The CW including a lesbian character isn’t one of them. But now that we’re on the subject. Calling it a “twist” in a marketing release is a mistake and part of a bigger problem than too many reboots. But y’know the 1st press release gave the reboot a feminist ‘twist’. So. Yeah. Let’s just all hope the actual script is filled with characters that are regarded and treated as equals in their effort to inspire a new generation. And that @TheCW fires their marketing dept soon. In closing…. We wish them well. Again. 🔮”
She also told the outlets to look up the first lesbian teenage kiss, because she is one of the two actress who took part on it. She kissed a Alexondra Lee on Picket Fences in 1993 and she liked it.
Recently, Tia Mowry revealed that they are working on bringing Sister, Sister back to TV, and today Steve Harvey asked Jackée Harry on his talk show if the rumors are true. Lisa Landry told him, “Yeah, it is happening!” And with that response, the audience went wild with excitement for it. Then the sassy actress told him, Yeah, I am excited. Tia and Tamera, they’re my babies, they’re my babies too.” How excited are you to see her reunited with her babies on the small screen again?
No other details were revealed like if Tim Reid will also be in it and what it will be about. But who cares, it is coming back!
Before she gets working on that show, she is starring in Tyler Perry’s Paynes that debuts on OWN tonight. She describes her character as “crooked, corrupt, Cougar,” which she can play with her eyes closed.
TV has given several shows from the ’90s reboots and revivals and now there could be one from the ’70s which might be coming back to our televisions. Todd Bridges Tweeted, “We maybe doing a new one [Diff’rent Stokes] i will be Willis Drummond I will be adopting two kids of a different color giving them the same opportunity that we where we were giving and showing the world no matter what color you are love conquers all.” I think that is something we need to be watching. The original normalized so much, I would love to see what a new version of it could do.
They obviously did something right the first time because it still airs in syndication on several channels after almost 40 years. Only a handful of shows can say that.
Diff’rent Strokes would also have to be a reboot because sadly Bridges and Charlotte Rae are the only surviving members from the original season. Who knows maybe if they ask nicely, they can get Janet Jackson to reprise her role as his girlfriend. What else is the youngest Jackson doing?
Last month, Paul Reiser told Larry King that he was finally “open” to a Mad About You revival and now there are rumors that Sony is shopping it around for a limited run. According to TV Line, the revival would center around Paul and Jamie Buchman becoming empty nesters because their daughter is going off to college.
I, for one, would love to see how they would react to having the apartment to themselves again. You know, they would be wanting to try to have sex in the living room when someone would come barging through the door. Acting like newlyweds, who have actually been married forever.
We are three months and three days away from the premiere of the Roseanne revival and the Conner patriarchs, Roseanne Barr and John Goodman, are wishing us a Merry Christmas. But in their own special way. A way that makes me even more excited the sitcom to come back already.
We might not have asked for Roseanne to come back, but we sure as hell love that it is!
