Kenan Thompson becomes a leading man tonight
February 16th, 2021 under Kenan Thompson, NBC. [ Comments: none ]

Kenan Thompson has been acting for over 25 years now. He has been part of ensembles like All That, Kenan & Kel, and Saturday Night Live. Tonight at 8:30p, he is getting a sitcom that is titled after him. Not only does this hard-working, talented actor deserve this, but he gets a show that is worthy of him.

Kenan is about a widowed father of two who is trying to adjust to life after losing his wife. He spends his mornings hosting a daytime talk show and his nights with his daughters and father-in-law. That is a lot for one man to handle, but he will try to do his best.

Something that would be easier if his co-host wasn’t so aggravating. You know the type. Thankfully, he has Mika (Kimrie Lewis), his EP, and his brother, Gary (Chris Redd), the manager on the show, to back him up.

When he is home, he has his father-in-law, Rick (Don Johnson), to help out with his daughters, Audrey (Dani Lane) and Birdie (Dannah Lane). They are a mix of both of their parents. Since Kenan’s wife is not around, he wants to make sure his girls know that he loves them very much.

It has been rough on Kenan since he lost his wife. He is just starting to be more like his old self, but the reminders are there, and he has to learn to live with those feelings. Thankfully he has enough loved ones to support him through this difficult time.

Kenan is not a sad show. In fact, it made me laugh several times. All I will say is “fat Beyonce” should become a thing after this episode airs.

We all need something sweet in our lives, and Kenan does just that. We need Kenan, so y’all need to watch this show tonight and every Tuesday on NBC.

Young Rock and Kenan get a premiere date!
January 15th, 2021 under Kenan Thompson, NBC, The Rock. [ Comments: none ]

NBC announced today that the sitcoms Young Rock and Kenan are going to debut on February 16th before This Is Us. That means that Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist will go on a break after being back for six episodes.

According to the press release, Young Rock focuses on different chapters of Dwayne Johnson’s life. From growing up in a strong and resilient family, to being surrounded by the wild characters of his professional wrestling family, to playing football at the University of Miami, the show will explore the crazy rollercoaster that has shaped Dwayne into the man he is today and the larger-than-life characters he’s met along the way.

While Kenan is about a recently widowed host of Atlanta’s #2 morning show, struggles to balance his job and his young daughters despite all the “help” he gets from his father-in-law and his brother/manager/house guest.

Hopefully, the two comedies will convince This Is Us to add a little more humor to the drama and stop being so melodramatic.

Kenan Thompson got Talent
August 17th, 2020 under America's Got Talent, Kenan Thompson. [ Comments: none ]

Simon Cowell is still recovering from breaking his back about a week and a half ago, so America’s Got Talent has to find someone to fill in for him. Last week, Kelly Clarkson sat his seat next to Heidi Klum, Sofia Vergara, Howie Mandel. However, it was for one week only. That is because Mandel said in an interview with Extra that this week she starts working on the second season of her talk show.

Who is going to put their butt in Cowell’s chair this week? That seat filler job goes to Kenan Thompson. The Saturday Night Live star said, “Literally can not wait!!!! @AGT @nbc.”

I literally cannot wait to see him be a judge on the talent show tomorrow and Wednesday night at 8p. He has been a warm and compassionate judge on Bring the Funny and The Masked Singer, and I am sure he will be the same on AGT. Maybe he can stick around until SNL needs him. Heck, they can leave him here in LA and have him play Joe Biden to Maya Randolph’s Kamala Harris. She said she really doesn’t want to travel during the coronavirus pandemic.

Good Burger, home of the Good Burger, is coming to life!
June 13th, 2019 under Kenan Thompson, Nickelodeon. [ Comments: none ]

Let’s be honest, ever since Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell introduced us to Good Burger, we have all wanted to try one. Come this July, you will be able to do so if you are in Los Angeles.

Just like Saved By the Max was, the popular restaurant is open for real business. While you are there you can order a Good Burger, Good Chucks and Good Shakes. Not only that, but there will also be “themed service experiences, merchandise, games, secret sauce and more.”

This is a must for any fan. So mark your calendars, tickets go on sale June 17th and doors open July 10th. Don’t forget All That is back with a new generation of kids this Saturday on Nickelodeon.

UPDATE: Here is Kel Mitchell reprising his role in Good Burger on the season premiere with special guest stars the Jonas Brothers.

Nickelodeon is bringing All That back with Kenan Thompson as the EP
February 14th, 2019 under Alisa Reyes, Kenan Thompson, Nickelodeon. [ Comments: none ]

A few months ago, Nickelodeon announced that Brian Robbins is the new head of their network. Back in the ’90s, he created a little show for them called All That which was all that.

When I heard that news, I was hoping he would bring back the very funny sketch show and he is. This time around, one of the original cast members Kenan Thompson will be the man in charge. Not only that, they say original cast members will be part of it too. Hopefully, he will ask Kel Mitchell, Alisa Reyes, Lori Beth Denberg and Amanda Bynes to reunite with him. How all that would that be?

That is not the only new show that is coming to Nick, they have a whole bunch more. John Cena will host a new take Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader? They will also be looking for America’s Most Musical Family. Simon Fuller and OneRepublic’s Ryan Tedder are working on a music-based show that will feature original songs each week. If that is not enough, how about spinoffs from Spongebob Squarepants?

Nickelodeon is where it is and I am excited for everything the have coming up!
