The Taylor Swift Effect is a real thing. Don’t believe me? Well, yesterday’s Super Bowl was watched by over 120 million people on CBS. That makes it the most-watched telecast in television history on a single network.

Here is the breakdown that CBS Sports sent out in a press release:

RECORD-SETTING VIEWERSHIP

  • Super Bowl LVIII is the most-watched program ever, averaging 123.4 million viewers across all platforms, up +7% vs. last year’s Super Bowl which was the previous record (115.1 million).

  • More than 200 million viewers (202.4) watched all or part of Super Bowl LVIII across networks, the highest unduplicated total audience in history and up +10% vs. last year’s Super Bowl (184 million).

CBS LEADS THE WAY WITH LARGEST AUDIENCE EVER FOR SINGLE NETWORK

    • Super Bowl LVIII on CBS led the way with 120.0 million viewers, the largest audience in history for a single network.

    • Super Bowl LVIII capped off a record-setting season for CBS Sports. The NFL ON CBS scored the most-watched regular season since the NFL returned to CBS in 1998 as well as the Network’s best postseason viewership since 1998.

Those numbers are astounding. And CBS needs to pay Swift a bonus because she is a large part of those numbers. Cause let’s be real. The people who helped to break that record were not tuning in to watch the Kansas Chiefs play the San Fransisco 49ers or Usher. They were tuning in for the singer!

I watch the big game every year for the commercials. Others watch for the actual game. And some for the halftime show. However, yesterday, first-timers were checking out because she introduced them to a game that their fathers watched.

And that is amazing! Swift is bringing families together! My friendship bracelet is off to her.

UPDATE: Tracker starring Justin Hartley, which aired after the game, scored a touchdown with 18.4 million viewers and is expected to gain another 7 million by its next episode on Sunday.

The Late Show with Stephen Colbert was seen by 3.74 people.

And finally, CBS took the cake with this spin. @fter Midnight scored its most-watched episode ever with 2.03 million viewers. Why is that such a hard sell? The show has only been on since January 16th, and it airs at 12:35a. So it ain’t ever going to see those numbers again.

BTWF: Justin Hartley for MGD
February 12th, 2024 under Before They Were Famous, Justin Hartley, Stephen Colbert. [ Comments: none ]

Before Justin Hartley was getting all the girls on This Is Us, he was rejected by a girl drinking MGD. How cute was the 26-year-old in that “so inappropriate” 2003 commercial?

To hear what the Tracker star told Stephen Colbert on The Late Show about filming that ad, then click here!

Track down Tracker after the Super Bowl
February 11th, 2024 under CBS, Justin Hartley. [ Comments: none ]

Justin Hartley is back with a new show after the Super Bowl tonight on CBS, and his character is nothing like he was on This Is Us. He is a Tracker, which means he is like a bounty hunter but for missing people.

Why does Colter Shaw do it? He is good at it. Oh, and the reward money!

Colter was trained to do this at a young age, so he is good at finding people. He is even better than law enforcement, but he will take their help when needed.

He is out there in the field alone, but he has help. Teddi Bruin (Robin Weigert) and her wife, Velma (Abby McEnany), assign him cases and strategize with him. Abby McEnany (Fiona Rene) is a lawyer who will help get him out of trouble. She and Colter have a history, and it is not a good one. Finally, there is Bobby Exley (Eric Graise). He is a tech genius who helps Colter with the techy stuff.

They will all work together and find missing loved ones. In tonight’s episode, a little boy goes to meet his father. However, his father is dead. So, who is the man who kidnapped the kid? And where did he take him?

Colter will go to extremes to find him, and that will lead to him getting arrested. The police officers don’t want to listen to him. But eventually, they will have to because he knows more than they do.

But is it enough to find this boy in time? Tune in after the big game to find out. And then every Sunday at 9p after that for a procedural with heart.

Glen Powell reacts to The Hollywood Reporter confusing him for Justin Hartley
January 8th, 2024 under Glen Powell, Justin Hartley, Not The Same Person. [ Comments: none ]

I guess that Glen Powell and Justin Hartley look alike. At least, according to The Hollywood Reporter, who confused the Top Gun: Maverick actor for the one that starred in This Is Us.

So did the Scream Queens star scream when he saw he saw their mistake? Nope. Instead, he took to social media and wrote, “I think this is the perfect time to announce that ⁦@justinhartley⁩ and I will be starring in the most boring body-swap movie of all time.”

Green Arrow hasn’t given the green light to the project. But then again, he has not posted on Twitter since 2022.

Would you watch it? Powell sold me on it!

Are you going to be tracking Tracker?
December 15th, 2023 under CBS, Justin Hartley. [ Comments: none ]

Today, CBS released the first trailer for their anticipated show Tracker, which debuts after the Super Bowl on February 11th.

Before you watch the trailer, I suggest reading the network’s description of the series. Tracker stars Justin Hartley as Colter Shaw, a lone-wolf survivalist who roams the country as a reward seeker, using his expert tracking skills to help private citizens and law enforcement solve all manner of mysteries while contending with his own fractured family.

Now that you know what it is about and have seen the trailer, will you be watching?
