Even though CBS’s Late Late Show has been on the air for 20 years, it has very rarely has beaten NBC’s Late Night. James Corden wants to change that and he wrote song to the melody of Somewhere Over the Rainbow from The Wizard of Oz. His ode is called Somewhere After the Late Show and it got me wanting to watch his show more often. But then again I am an old softy when someone cares so much about their show that they are willing to write and perform a song about it. Especially one I can’t get out of my head.

James Corden and Jason Derulo got in the car together to sing some Carpool Karaoke yesterday on The Late Late Show, and I learned some things about him I never knew. Well, I mean up until yesterday, the only things I knew about him is that he dated Jordin Sparks and he judged this season’s So You Think You Can Dance.
While they were driving around, the singer admitted that he was classically trained and can sing Opera. Once he confirmed the latter fact, the CBS late night host asked him to belt something out and he did. Now, that we know that he can sing Opera, I wish he would stop using autotune. On that note, that was the other thing I learned about him, I actually like his music.
Who knew Carpool Karaoke was so educational?
James Corden had hypnotist Richard Barker on his Late Late Show yesterday and he hypnotized three members of the studio audience and Josh Duhamel. When Barker got to the former model, he got him to believe that his mouth would not open for anything. Then when it was time for Josh to be awoken but still under the trance, Corden asked him some questions and gave him a glass of water. No matter how hard Duhamel tried, he couldn’t open his mouth and got a shirt full of water.
You know, when Fergie sees this, she is going to ask for Barker’s phone number. She is going to want to have that handy anytime she gets into a fight in with her husband. At least, I would love to have that ability anytime my man just won’t shut up.

Adele came out of hiatus earlier this week and released her first single in years. As soon as Hello hit the internet, the song set fire to the rain. Even though the chart topping tune is just a few days old, the parodies are already rolling in the deep.
Yesterday on The Late Late Show, James Corden turned into a duet with Billy Eichner. But they changed the theme and the words, and kept them melody. Instead of Hello, it was Halloween. The CBS late night host’s version is about two men who have spent their whole lives trick or treating together, but now one of them wants to move on.
I always thought of a Halloween as a joyous holiday, until now. This ballad just ruined my Halloween. Only thing that will be make it better is drowning my sorrow in candy, but where can find sweets today?
Oh and I knew that Billy Eicher could scream, but who the hell knew he could sing like that? Maybe if he did that more often, I wouldn’t find him as annoying.
Seriously though, this might be one of my favorite bits from Corden so far. What do you think?
Broadway actors Nathan Lane and Rachel Bloom were on The Late Late Show yesterday and James Corden had them do a bit called Inappropriate Musicals. Together the three of them gave The Terminator, The Exorcist and Se7en a voice, a singing voice, and strangely enough it worked.
I don’t know why they called them inappropriate because there was nothing inappropriate about them. If there’s anything inappropriate on Broadway, it is some of the stunt casting they have done for Chicago, Cabaret and Hedwig and the Angry Inch to name a few.
Back to Corden, I think this is his best bit yet. I just wish he would stop trying to do a New Yawk accent, it kills me every time he tries.
