Fox announced their fall schedule this morning and I cannot say I am happy about it. I think they should have stayed with Lucifer and Last Man on Earth over The Gifted and The Resident. On the latter, I get why they kept it. They believe it is a good fit with 9-1-1, but personally, the Ryan Murphy drama is going into Lucifer territory in storylines. The Gifted and Lethal Weapon pairing makes no sense to me. It will be interesting to see if viewers feel the same way. Wednesdays are the same, but I think Empire needs to end. It is a shell of what it used to be. Thursday is freaking Football, more on that below. Fridays will give us Last Man Standing with The Cool Kids. Personally, I am looking forward to both. Sundays will see no comedies in the 7p hour, which is why they got rid go LMOE to make room for Rel. I love Jerrod Carmichael, know his brilliance, but I will not give this comedy all my heart.

The Orville and Gotham’s final season move to midseason. My feeling is The Orville will be paired with Cosmos. It can be the Seth MacFarlane day. Fox has not made any decisions on LA to Vegas and Ghosted. At this point, they are working on new seasons of Prison Break and 24, but it is in the very early phases. When it comes to The X-Files, they have no plans, as of now, to bring it back.

Finally, the New Fox is due to getting a new audience because of football. With the sports ratings declining, it will be interesting to see how many new viewers they get. I think they should have kept the loyal ones instead of focusing on the new ones. But that is me.

Lethal Weapon gets a Goon aka Seann William Scott to replace Clayne Crawford
May 13th, 2018 under American Pie, Fox, Wayans Brothers. [ Comments: none ]

Five days after Fox fired Clayne Crawford from Lethal Weapon, they finally found someone to join the procedural for its third season. That’s right not only did they reveal that Seann William Scott is joining the show, they announced that the show will be back for a third season because of the casting.

Scott is not replacing Crawford on the show, instead he will be playing a new character that has yet to be determined. Some sites are saying he might be playing Riggs’ brother, but it is too early to tell. I mean, after all, it has not even been a week since this all went down.

When it comes to Scott, I wish him well. I have always been a fan of his work and know that he has a very quick wit which is a great talent for an actor to have. Especially, if you are working with a Wayans brother.

UPDATE: Fox picked up Gotham for a fifth season.

Those Criminal Minds at CBS are no longer eating Superior Donuts
May 12th, 2018 under CBS, Fox, NBC. [ Comments: none ]

The morning started off nicely because Fox renewed Family Guy and Bob’s Burgers, but then came CBS. They cancelled Superior Donuts, which was a good comedy that took on taboo topics, and showed both sides of those issues responsibly. They also pulled the plug on Scorpion, I think the season finale twist did them in. That and the ratings, but I will go with the former.

It wasn’t only bad news from the Eye, they are sticking with Criminal Minds, Man Without a Plan, Instinct and Life in Pieces. Who watches those shows?

NBC also revealed that they are doing an all-star version of America’s Got Talent for the winter. NBC also picked up Blacklist for a season 6.

Over at CBS, they are sticking with Elementary for another season. But they are not sticking with 9JKL, Kevin Can Wait, Living Biblically and Wisdom of the Crowd.

Lots of not so Great News today for the evil networks
May 11th, 2018 under ABC, Fox, NBC, The CW. [ Comments: none ]

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0MmgjI9oJw4
Fox is doing a big FU to his fans. Yesterday, they cancelled The Last Man on Earth, Brooklyn Nine-Nine and The Mick. Today, they followed it up by doing the same to Lucifer and Exorcist. I could care less about the latter, but the former really hurts. It was a thrilling show with a great ensemble cast that played off each other well. To top it off, the show’s EP Joe Henderson wrote, “We created a season finale with a huge cliffhanger so that there was no way Fox could cancel us. Instead, we’re going to frustrate the hell out of you fans. I’m so sorry for that. #Lucifer.” I think of all of the shows this is the one that has the best chances of getting picked up by someone else. On a positive note, they revived Last Man Standing.

The CW was very nice to me today because they picked up iZombie for a fifth season. Which completes all of their renewals and cancellations. CBS, on the other hand, did not pick up or cancel anything today.

Over NBC they cancelled the heartfelt Rise that they did not do enough to promote. They also gave bad news to Great News. They were also not brave enough to renew Brave.

ABC like every year goes cancelling crazy because I do not think they know what they are doing. They picked up Speechless, Black-ish, American Housewife, Fresh Off the Boat, Splitting Up Together, For the People, Station 19 and How to Get Away Murder for another season. But they cancelled Designated Survivor, Deception, The Crossing, Kevin (Probably) Saves the World, The Inhumans, Quantico and Alex, Inc. Basically, they cancelled all the dramas that are not produced by Shonda Rhymes. What type of world do we live in that the fake president gets impeached before the real one? Kiefer Sutherland is a much better president than the one we have now.

As my DVR has a huge party, I am crying tears for all the shows I lost today. Doing a Marlon Brando, “Stella” scream but replacing it with all the shows I lost. And there were a lot.

Oh farts, Last Man on Earth, The Mick and Nine-Nine are axed, while others are renewed
May 10th, 2018 under Fox, NBC, Will Forte. [ Comments: none ]

Today is the day that most of the broadcast networks make up their minds on what shows they want to keep and which ones they don’t. The latter leaving people like me downing a bottle of St John’s Wort.

The first sad news came from January Jones who broke the news that The Last Man on Earth was cancelled after only four seasons. She wrote, “To our @lastmanfox family..it’s been an amazing 4yrs, thank you for all the hard work, we love you and will miss seeing you every day! And thank you to our fans who loved and laughed at these ridiculous and lovably flawed characters. @orviv your brain is a national(global?),treasure ❤️” She is not kidding about Forte’s brain, it is scrumptious gem full of beautiful smelling farts. How many other actors would do what he did in that photo above and with a big smile on his face. That is the perfect way to describe this show, a big smile. You can tell this was a cast that loves working on the show and each other ever more than that. A combination that is rare these days. I can go on, but I am only on my first glass of wine. Also, I am not ready to handle the fact that the show ended with such a cliffhanger that will not be resolved just like what happened on Soap, Benson, Alf and V.

Now, as I get ready to pour the second glass in honor of Mary Steenburgen’s character, I am sad that The Mick is ending too. This is a comedy that pushed the envelope so far it fell off of the flat earth and went into a black hole. How many other shows would have a sex scene with a 100-year-old woman and a 30-year-old female for diamonds? Did I mention, they showed a lot of nudity and then they killed her off the rich old lady by having her mix her oxygen tank with one last cigarette. What other show would do that? None, for a very good reason but still it was very funny.

Finally, Fox also gave the ax to Brooklyn Nine-Nine after 5 seasons. Never got that show. I guess Fox is getting out of the Saturday Night Live business.

What about some good news? NBC picked up AP Bio for a second season, which is good for Glenn Howerton since he quit It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. They are also staying with Blindspot for a fourth one and J-Lo’s World of Dance for a third. The latter is a summer show.

Back to f*cking Fox, they are staying with Star to see if the third one will be a charm. I do not watch that show, but I still watch Empire. Who else besides me, would like it to be put out of our misery? Seriously, the show is not even a shell of what it once was. It is barely watchable which is why I watch most episodes and have no idea what just happened and I don’t care that zoned out for a whole hour.
