CBS announced today that it has picked up the #1 new show of the season NCIS LA and the well liked The Good Wife for a second season. Both shows have done really well for CBS on Tuesdays, so it is no surprise that CBS is sticking with them.
Also coming back for a second season is TNT’s critically acclaimed show Men of a Certain Age that stars Ray Romano, Scott Bakula and Andre Braugher. Can I tell you I love this show! I am one of the few people that didn’t love Everybody Loves Raymond, but I am loving this show so check it Mondays at 10p on TNT.
Here is something to sing about, Fox is bringing back the most talked about show of the new season, Glee for a second one. As if there was any doubt that they would!
Finally ABC Family had its highest ratings yet for The Secret Life of the American Teenager and Make It or Break It when they had their season premiere last week, so they wasted no time to announce that they will bring them both shows for another season.
All the above shows join the pick ups of ABC’s Wednesday night comedies The Middle, Modern Family and Cougar Town.
CBS’s #1 show NCIS celebrates a huge milestone tonight at 8p, it celebrates its 150th episode. On tonight’s special episode we meet Tony DiNozzo’s (Michael Weatherly) dad Tony DiNozzo played by the legendary Robert Wagner.
When Tony’s dad comes to town everyone is curious about him including Tony Jr who is trying to figure out why now he is choosing to come back into his life after all these years. As the team tries to get some alone time with Tony Sr, Tony Jr is using his investigative skills to find out more about him. What he finds out changes the way he looks at him and puts their relationship in trouble. How far will he go to protect his father or will he do something that could end their ties forever? What is great about this show besides all the chemistry between the cast and Robert Wagner, is the change between two of the characters closeness because of of Tony DiNozzo’s reappearance into his son’s life.
Tonight’s episode Flesh and Blood is a perfect way to celebrate the show turning 150, so make sure to watch it!
And make sure to watch the episode all the way until the end for a cooking tip I can’t wait to try. Can you believe that?
On April 2nd CBS will be airing a new medical drama called Miami Medical and today the cast and the producers talked about the show at CBS’s The Critics Association’s Winter Press Tour Day. The latest Jerry Bruckheimer drama takes place in Miami and deals with traumas from the actual incident until the person goes home or doesn’t make it.
Here is what they had to say about the show.
The EP said they changed the title of Miami Trauma to Miami Medical because of Trauma. He then said that NBC’s Trauma should have been called EMTs because it is more about the EMTs than the Trauma.
The location of Miami will be a part of the show. One of the EPs said he experienced a real trauma and he understands what it is like. He said that you wake up and see the beauty of the sun in Miami, and would never expect that your life could be turned around in an instant with a trauma and you need the help.
Lana Parrilla said even though she is Puerto Rican she did not grow up speaking Spanish. Three years ago she started taking Spanish classes and that helps her for the role where she plays a woman who escaped Cuba when she was 5 years old with her family. We learn that some of her character’s family that escaped with her when she was 5 did not make it out alive and the family that did were her dad and grandfather who were both surgeons in Cuba. Growing up with them is what influenced her character to become a doctor.
Jeremy Northam was asked if Hugh Laurie has given him any advice to play the role because they are both English playing doctors in America. He said I don’t know Hugh Laurie. Great answer to a stupid question.
There will be sex on Miami Medical! Sex is always good!!! And since this show will be airing at 10p on Fridays, let’s hope they can push the envelope with it.
Episode 12 will be like 24 minus a clock where it will be close to real time.
All in all Miami Medical will be a great way to end the week, so make sure to check it out when it premieres on CBS at 10p on April 2nd!
Today is the start of The Critic Association Winter Press Tour where the execs of the major networks and cable talk about their programming. The first network up is CBS and one of the questions asked was is Three Rivers cancelled? And although at first Nina Tassler denied she eventually gave in and said yes it is. Because I chose not to get here early enough here is what The Futon Critic said that she said, “You know what – yes,” Tassler admitted. “We’ve all known each other long enough to say when something’s on hiatus it’s code for something else. The reality is we were very proud of that show… eight lives were saved as a result of the organ donation that people became aware of because of that show. And every show takes its time in finding its legs – some shows take longer than others – but I think at the end of the day knowing that the fact that that show was on the air had that kind of impact is pretty extraordinary.” That is really f*cking amazing that the show was able to save 8 lives with the few amount of episodes. Imagine how many more lives they could’ve save if they would’ve stayed with Three Rivers over the needs to be retired Cold Case. Can some please get Kathryn Morris a hair transplant? I have tried to watch the show, but her hair distracts me.
Now back to Three Rivers, I will totally miss the show and I am thankful for the amount of episodes we did get…I just wish we got more!
BTW CBS also said Numb3rs could come back.
CBS announced today that it was reworking its schedule starting in March. Rules of Engagement (the new Yes, Dear) will be back for its fourth season on Monday, March 1st replacing Accidentally on Purpose. On March 31st, Accidentally on Purpose will take over Gary Unmarried’s Wednesdays at 8:30p timeslot because the show will have finished its season the week beforehand. Which means the chances of Gary Unmarried getting a third season are not looking good because it is rare that a show that ends before May sweeps will be back in September. Another show whose future looks dim is Numb3rs who had their season order cut and that show will be replaced by Miami Medical on April 2nd. I saw the first two episodes of that show and I think that CBS would be better off airing Three Rivers on Fridays at 10p over Miami Medical because it is a much better show.
