Cane premieres tonight on CBS at 10p
September 25th, 2007 under CBS, Reviews. [ Comments: none ]

Cane is CBS latest family drama and this one is going to be as hot as the city is based in…Miami!
CANE is an epic drama about the external rivalries and internal power struggles of a large Cuban-American family running an immensely successful rum and sugar business in South Florida. When the family patriarch, Pancho, is offered a lucrative but questionable deal by his bitter adversaries, the Samuels, to purchase thousands of acres of sugar fields, he's faced with a tough choice: Should he cash out of the sugar business and focus solely on rum, which would please his impulsive natural son, Frank, or protect the family legacy that he built from the ground up by not selling, and side with his adopted son, Alex, who mistrusts the Samuels and still sees value in sugar? Alex and Frank's approach to business is as different as their approach to life. While Frank might lose focus chasing women, Alex is deeply in love with his beautiful wife, Isabel, who is also Pancho's daughter. Married when she was just 17 years old, Isabel balances Alex by choosing not to involve herself in the business, focusing instead on their three children, Jaime, Katie and Artie, who are determined to forge their own paths outside the family. Jaime has a deep love for his father, but also yearns to make it on his own outside of the family business and when he's accepted to a reputable college he must face the decision to please Alex or stick by his beloved girlfriend Rebecca and choose a new life. Katie is their rebellious teenage daughter who looks and acts far older than she is. Henry, Pancho's youngest son, prefers to stand in the sidelines while his oldest siblings battle for control of the Duque's interests. While her sons wrestle with their own personal difficulties and secrets, Pancho's wife, Amalia, sees to the normal inter-personal conflicts that occur within an extended family and bridges the gap between the three generations hosting the family's large music-filled cookouts and lively dinners. For the Duques, will family allegiance come first or will their secrets and acrimonious conflicts over love, lust and control of the family fortune be their downfall?
While this show is not necessarily my cup of cafe con leche, that does not mean the show won't be a success. Out of all the new shows I have seen this is the one I can see going on to getting nominated for several Emmys. The problem I had with it, is just the fact that I lived in Miami for so many years and I just couldn't get used to so many non-Cubans playing Cubans. It is kind of like when people of a certain accent can't stand when they hear someone fake it. If the show was not about a Cuban family I would have liked it a lot more.
So if you not familiar with the whole Miami/Cuban thing then you will really like this show. So tune into to Cane tonight on CBS at 10p

The kids of Kid Nation know how to party!!!
September 17th, 2007 under CBS. [ Comments: 4 ]

Kid Nation is the most talked about new show of the fall season and it is finally going to premiere this Wednesday at 8p! I have to admit when I first heard the concept for the show I thought it was going to be canceled before it hit the air. But then I saw the trailer for Kid Nation and I cannot wait for this show. It actually looks interesting and everything I have read from the kids (not the parents) that participated they had a really good time on the show and they learned a lot! So let’s give this show a chance and see what it is all about!
Hey anyone that can down that much sugar and still have their senses about them is A OK in my book!!!

David Letterman speeds past his Top Ten tonight to Twelve!!!
September 12th, 2007 under CBS. [ Comments: none ]

For time first time in David Letterman's Top 10 history he will have more than 10, he will have a Top Twelve. Reading the Top Twelve are some of NASCAR's finest according to Fanhouse!

12. Clint Bowyer: “We’ve got special mirrors that show objects the size that they actually are.

11. Kevin Harvick: “Sometimes back in the garages there’s horseplay with the airhose.”

10. Jeff Burton: “Between the G-forces and the fumes, I’m loopy most of the season.”

9. Kyle Busch: “Switch the ‘R’ and the ‘C’ in ‘Racing’ and you get ‘Caring.’”

8. Matt Kenseth: “Can hold 8 gigs of music on my new iHelmet.”

7. Martin Turex, Jr.: “In a pinch, checkered flags make a lovely tablecloth.”

6. Denny Hamlin: “Two more wins and I get to marry Ashley Judd.”

5. Kurt Busch: “You can talk to your car and pretend you’re David Hasselhoff.”

4. Carl Edwards: “How many people can say their “office” goes 200 miles per hour.”

3. Tony Stewart: “Driving fast and starting fights.”

2. Jeff Gordon: “It’s not one of those sports you have to inject stuff in your ass to be good.”

1. Jimmie Johnson: “Unlike most guys, I like it when my wife says, ‘You’re too fast.’”

That reads so hysterical, but it so much better to see those things on TV, so tune in to David Letterman's Late Night tonight at 11:35p on CBS!!!

September 10th, 2007 under CBS, Game Shows. [ Comments: none ]

CBS and Sony announced today that they picked up its summer hit Power of 10 for 6 more episodes for midseason! I wonder how Drew Carey is going to handle doing both Power of 10 and Price is Right?
