Next month, it will be 14 years since Everybody Love Raymond ended and yet Brad Garrett and Ray Romano still act like the brothers they played on that beloved sitcom. Over the weekend, the two men reunited at Garrett’s Las Vegas comedy club and I am sure the patrons enjoyed the double surprise of funny.
Which makes you wonder why they don’t do a revival of their sitcom that ended way too early. They can film it over the summer while Garrett is on a break from Single Parents (which ABC better pick up for a second season). The story is easy to do, Ally, her husband and their child move into her late grandparents’ house and now Debra and Ray are acting just like Frank and Marie did to them. Not only that, a recently divorced Robert moves back into his old room and drives everyone crazy.
It is Christmas time tonight at 9:30p on ABC and our Single Parents are going to celebrate together. While it might be the holiday season, it does not feel like it in for them. Don’t worry, they will make the most of it. That is not all they will be making the most of this Christmas Eve.
Poppy (Kimrie Lewis) is sad because her son is away with his dad, so she wants to be alone. Douglas (Brad Garrett) is not going to have that, so he invites her to spend some time with her and the twins. But he has an ulterior motive.
We find out that Angie (Leighton Meester) has a Santa Claus fetish, so the guy she is seeing dresses up at the man in red. You would think that would make her jolly, but he makes a mistake. One so big, it has her running to Will’s (Taran Killam) for help. While she is over there, she learns something about Will that makes us wonder why he his wife ever left him because he is perfect.
They might be single parents, but they are a family. I am so happy that they are letting us be part of their family because this is the best new comedy of the season.
Before Brad Garrett had his own comedy club in Las Vegas, he was an up and coming comedian doing standup on Dick Clark’s Nitetime. How funny was the 25-year-old in that 1985 episode? Who knew he could do impressions?

I seriously never thought it would he would be funny because he seems dull, but there seems to be another side to him. I guess it is that humor that helped him land the highest paid super model as wife. Well that and his looks, money and being a winner, I guess?
