WTF Jimmy Buffett caught with 100 ecstasy pills?
October 6th, 2006 under Arrested, Jimmy Buffett. [ Comments: none ]

FORGET Margaritaville – French authorities reportedly seized more than 100 tabs of club drug "ecstasy" from Jimmy Buffett’s luggage this week. The Grammy-winning singer got into trouble when he flew into Toulon-Hyères International Airport in the South of France on a rented private jet and customs officials started poking around in his suitcases. According to local press reports, they uncovered more than 100 tablets of the mind-bending substance. Buffett, who was on his way to chill out in the ritzy resort town of St. Tropez, was detained, but not arrested, and allowed to go free after paying a fine of 300 euros – about $380. That prompted one local newspaper editorial to term the slap-on-the-wrist punishment "a small amount for a man who makes $70 million a year." A spokeswoman for Buffett – whose hits include "Cheeseburger in Paradise" and "Why Don’t We Get Drunk" – denied he’d had any ecstasy in the luggage. The rep insisted, "It was medicine prescribed by his doctor." But she wouldn’t name the medicine or what ailment Buffett was using it for. She also refused to comment on why, if the substance was legally prescribed, Buffett agreed to pay the fine. "I don’t have any additional information," the flak said. Asked to contact Buffett to ask him about the incident, she said, "It’s not going to be possible." She also insisted the cops seized only 20 tablets, not the reported 100-plus. Regardless, Buffett was lucky his alleged stash wasn’t discovered in the United States, where a conviction can lead to a prison sentence and fines of up to $100,000. But the singer has had bad luck involving narcotics in the past. Ten years ago, a boat he and Bono were on near the coast of Jamaica was fired on by police who mistook them for drug traffickers. Meanwhile, the crooner, 59, a distant relative of billionaire investor Warren Buffett, will release his newest album, "Take the Weather With You," next week. Last month, he did a fund-raiser for Kinky Friedman’s Texas gubernatorial campaign.

George Michael busted again for pot in his car.
October 1st, 2006 under Arrested, George Michael. [ Comments: none ]

George Michael was arrested on Sunday for possessing cannabis after being found slumped at the wheel of his car for the second time this year. The troubled singer was rushed to hospital after officers found him unconscious in his Mercedes at a busy junction near his North London home just after 3.20am yesterday morning. They also discovered a small amount of cannabis in his possession. Police were called to the scene after receiving reports that his car was obstructing the junction at Cricklewood Lane with Hendon Way, under a mile away from Hampstead Heath. The 43-year-old star was later taken into custody at Colindale police station in west London, and booked under his real name Georgios Kyriakos Panayiotou. As well as being cautioned for possessing cannabis, Michael was arrested under the suspicion of being unfit to drive and released on police bail yesterday afternoon. It is the third time this year the star has been involved in a motoring incident, which many believe is linked to his frequent use of cannabis. The former Wham frontman was cautioned in February for possession of the class C drug after being found asleep at the wheel of his parked Mercedes near Hyde Park. The millionaire was arrested for suspicion of being unfit to drive and was held by police over night, although he was never charged. In April, Michael again faced police questioning after he allegedly smashed into three parked cars in his new £60,000 Range Rover. Michael, who has just started a sell-out world tour – his first for 15 years – has never made a secret of his fondness for cannabis. The singer, who has a long-term partner, Kenny Goss, hit the headlines in July after being caught having sex with a stranger on Hampstead Heath. Michael, in a frank interview with Channel 4’s Richard and Judy show, said he felt no shame about his sexual encounters with strangers in public places, an activity known as cruising. Last night, a spokesman for the Metropolitan Police said: "At approximately 03.22am yesterday officers were informed of a stationary vehicle with a driver inside at traffic lights on Cricklewood Lane near its junction with Hendon Way, causing an obstruction. "Officers arrested a 43-year-old man on suspicion of being unfit to drive and possession of a controlled substance, believed to be cannabis. "London Ambulance Service attended and the man was taken to a west London hospital as a precautionary measure. "He was then taken into custody at a west London police station and later received a caution for possession of cannabis and was bailed to return on a date in November in relation to the allegation of being unfit to drive."

When is he going to learn? I wonder if this will effect his tour?

Duane “Dog” Chapman arrested in Hawaii over the Andrew Luster case
September 14th, 2006 under Arrested. [ Comments: none ]

MSNBC’s Rita Cosby is reporting that Duane Dog Chapman, star of the A&E reality series "Dog the Bounty Hunter," and two members of his bounty hunting team (including his son) were arrested by U.S. officials today for extradition to Mexico. Cosby is reporting that Mexican government officials wanted the three men sent back there in relation to a three-year-old case. In 2003, Chapman traveled to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico to retrieve Max Factor cosmetics heir Andrew Luster, who was wanted in the U.S. on rape charges. Luster is now in jail, serving a 124-year term. The Chapmans were jailed in Mexico for a brief time for the incident three years ago. Bounty hunting is considered a crime in Mexico. Dog’s wife, Beth Chapman, said 12 armed marshals "came through the door" at 6:00AM this morning. She said they took their daughter’s boyfriend down at gunpoint. Dog was sleeping at the time. TMZ spoke with Nicky Credic from the U.S. Marshals Office. She said, "The arrest warrant was signed by a U.S. magistrate in Hawaii on September 13. The warrant was based on a formal request based on a diplomatic note from the government of Mexico."

TMZ

This is such BS. Andrew Luster used his money to hide in Mexico and instead of the Mexican officials turning him they arrest the people (3 years later) that caught him and brought him back to the US.
