via GMA Kellie Pickler was portrayed as a dumb blonde on American Idol, but she did something very smart for a friend of hers. Kellie’s best friend Summer Holt Miller was diagnosed with breast cancer in June and she will start chemo tomorrow to beat it. As we all know the chances of someone losing their hair while undergoing the treatment is very likely, so Summer shaved her head yesterday and not wait for the chemo to make her bald. Kellie supported her “sister” by also shaving her head, so that she would not be alone with the bald head. I think the singer looks as beautiful as what she did for her for her friend.
Good for Kellie for being real American Idol and bringing awareness about how detecting breast cancer early can save your life. Like Summer who was diagnosed with it at the age of 36 and she insisted on getting a mammogram even though doctors thought she was too young. If she didn’t know who knows where she would be. So ladies remember check and get those mammograms every year. And let’s all hope and pray that Summer gets through this quickly and cancer free.
Kelly Clarkson Tweeted the above picture and said, “Sprained my foot and have a hairline fracture but the show must go on people ha! Thank you @ashes2lashes & @Jillandkate for the help!” She didn’t explain how she hurt her foot, but hopefully she will tell us all about it on Duets this Thursday. And let’s hope that it is something funny and fitting for an American Idol.
Hey Kelly, get Stronger soon.
Yesterday was American Idol‘s season finale and the big news is not who won, but that two former contestants got engaged on the show. Ryan Seacrest called Ace Young and Diana DeGarmo up on to stage and the season 5 contestant got down on one knee and asked the season 3 runner-up to marry him. Of course she said yes and now I am sure the two are being inundated with phone calls from production companies wanting to do a reality show about their upcoming wedding.
Even though the two are both former-Idol contestants, they actually met when they did Hair together on Broadway. Even though Idol didn’t technically bring them together, had they not been on the singing competition they probably would never been starring on a Broadway show without it.
Carrie Underwood was a guest on Jimmy Kimmel Live yesterday and the two of them debuted their duet Before You Freak on the show. Let’s just say it is all types of freaking awesome. I mean could that Britney Spears reference be anymore perfect.
So sit back and enjoy a song that you won’t be getting out of your head anytime soon.
Carrie Underwood was just starting in school when Debbie Gibson was climbing the charts with her hit Electric Youth, and I guess that was her inspiration for her 29th birthday look. The All-American Girl Tweeted the above picture and said “Best. Birthday. Ever!” Looking how happy she is in that picture, you can tell she meant it.
It still amazes me how a little farm girl, wowed us on a reality show and now is a top-selling singer. Out of all the American Idol winners, I think she deserved all of her success most.
