Shannen Donherty has been very open about her battle with Breast Cancer and sharing with the World what she has been going through from chemotherapy to radiation and all the tests and feelings that happen in between it all. Now, the actress is going to share with us what remission is like because doctors told her the cancer is gone.
Moments. They happen. Today was and is a moment. What does remission mean? I heard that word and have no idea how to react. Good news? YES. Overwhelming. YES. Now more waiting. As every single one of my fellow cancer family knows, the next five years is crucial. Reoccurrences happen all the time. Many of you have shared that very story with me. So with a heart that is certainly lighter, I wait. In the meantime, decisions. Reconstruction which is several surgeries. Decision on taking a pill for the next five years that comes with its own set of problems and side effects. I am blessed, I know that. But for now…. remission. I’m going to just breathe. #cancerslayer
I am so happy that she is in remission because she has helped so many people understand what it is like to go through the awful disease. In five years, I can’t wait to report that she officially cancer free.
Over the weekend cops were called to Leslie Sapp’s San Antonio house over a noise complaint and what happened next is something no one ever expected.
Instead of the police officer shutting down the Next Generation Dance Crew, an organization dedicated to inspiring and encouraging the youth to express themselves through dance, party, he asked the DJ to play a song that he liked. Then he went on the dance floor and did his best Salsa moves. Not only delighting Sapp and the kids including her daughter at the party, he also changed their views of law enforcement. Sapp told KSAT, “As a parent, especially these days, there is a lot of negativity in the world when it comes to cops, and he broke that stereotype. He didn’t have to take his time to do that and could have just (gone) in and shut it down.”
Proving that only does dance inspire and encourage kids to express themselves, it also breaks down barriers. Therefore, instead of hands across America, let’s have dance across America! Maybe this way we can get along because we need it more than we have had in over 50 years.
You ask what can be worse than death? How about in Kensington, Canada, they make people who are arrested for DUI listen to Nickleback as punishment.
Since it is the season to drink at holiday parties and drive home, they don’t want the people of their city to do that. Therefore they came up with a plan to prevent that from happening. Get arrested for driving under the influence and you will suffer the wrath of having to listen to Nickleback as you sober up behind bars. Talking about really needing a drink and a getaway car.
But seriously, it is a great idea in order to prevent alcohol related accidents from happening.
Why did they chose their national joke’s music for torture instead of their other one Justin Bieber? They picked them because Chad Kroger was arrested for DUI.
And remember if you are too drunk to drive, then call a cab or ask someone to pick you up. This way you can unwrap presents under the tree with your loved ones this year and every year moving forward. If you are really good, then Santa won’t leave a Nickleback CD in your stocking. That is worse than getting coal in there.
When Donald Trump was elected, those of us who are not Straight White Christian Men became afraid. We are afraid that his administration that is anti Women and Same-Sex rights and Freedom of Religion will create an unsafe environment for those of us who don’t look and act like the Vice President Elect.
Yesterday that man, Mike Pence, attended a Hamilton performance and the musical’s star had a message for him. Brandon Victor Dixon implored him to listen to what he has to say, “We have a message for you, sir. We hope that you will hear us out…Vice President-Elect Pence, we welcome you, and we truly thank you for joining us here at Hamilton: An American Musical. We really do. We, sir, we are the diverse America who are alarmed and anxious that your new administration will not protect us, our planet, our children, our parents, or defend us and uphold our inalienable rights, sir. But we truly hope this show has inspired you to uphold our American values and to work on behalf of all of us, all of us. We truly thank you for sharing this show, this wonderful American story told by a diverse group of men, women, of different colors, creeds, and orientations.”
Pence came into our house, and as a guest I hope he heard what we have to say. We want to America to keep moving forward and not backwards into a time where people of different colors, races, religions, sex and sexual preference were not allowed to be free. That is not asking for too much.
If you can’t handle what a man so eloquently had to say to you, then maybe you should not be a heartbeat away from being President.
Don’t send your goon, I mean President Elect Donald Trump, to do your dirty work. Do it yourself.
As we say in NYC, grow a pair! Because what Brandon Victor Dixon said is how most Americans feel and he did not say anything offensive or threatening or anything that warrants an apology. He spoke from the heart, something I don’t think you or your goon have.
And with that my tricorn is off to the cast of Hamilton!
UPDATE: Lin-Miranda Manuel Tweeted this response to his casts’ peaceful and inspirational message, “Proud of @HamiltonMusical. Proud of @BrandonVDixon, for leading with love. And proud to remind you that ALL are welcome at the theater.”
UPDATE 2: Brandon Victor Dixon had this to say to Donald Trump who told him to apologize to Pence, “@realDonaldTrump conversation is not harassment sir. And I appreciate @mike_pence for stopping to listen.” Amen!
Trump has a lot of nerve to ask anyone to apologize when he can’t do it himself.
Criss Angel’s precious son, Johnny, is thankfully in remission from lymphoblastic leukemia. Instead of moving on, the Las Vegas magician created a charity “to raise awareness of pediatric cancer and provide funds for research, treatment, and ultimately a cure.” Criss Angel‘s HELP: Heal Every Life Possible decided to use Twisted Sister’s song We’re Not Gonna Take It as their anthem. According to Rolling Stone, not only did the Metal band’s record company give the nonprofit the song’s licensing fee for free, Dee Snider, who’s friends with Angel, donated his time to rework a recording of the tune.
The Rocker also released a video for it that was directed by Angel. The music video was shot in a Nevada desert as the mother of a cancer victim got her head shaved. It also shows several young children who are battling the awful disease. If this doesn’t make you cry because it is so beautifully done, then I don’t know what to say.
Everything about it, is how we should feel about children getting cancer. We are not gonna take it anymore! What a powerful way to get that message across.
On September 12th, all the biggest names in Las Vegas, are getting together to take part in HELP fundraiser where “100% of every cent donated will go directly to fund pediatric cancer research.” If you cannot make it to the event, them you can bid on many of the awesome items that up for auction now.
Hopefully, if all goes the way it should, some day soon, no parent will ever hear their child has cancer.
