Gloria Estefan goes from singing One Day at a Time to guesting on the sitcom
June 25th, 2018 under Adam Sandler, Gloria Estefan, Netflix, Rita Moreno. [ Comments: none ]

In case you did not know this, Gloria Estefan sings the reworked theme song for Netflix’s remake of One Day at a Time. But for the third season, they are changing things up. The Cuban born singer announced today that she will guest star on the fan favorite sitcom about a Cuban-American family living in Los Angeles.

The Conga singer will be playing Mirtha, Lydia’s (Rita Moreno) baby sister and arch-nemesis. I can totally see that because her and her TV niece Justina Machado have a lot of similarities between them. Plus, I can see Estefan having a lot of fun with this role.

This was not the only big casting announcement made by Netflix today. They also revealed that Jennifer Aniston and Adam Sandler will be working together on their 2019 feature Murder Mystery. The two worked together in 2011’s Just Go With It,

The movie is being described as, “When a NYC cop (Sandler) finally takes his wife (Aniston) on a long promised European trip, a chance meeting on the flight with a mysterious man (Luke Evans) gets them invited to an intimate family gathering on the Super Yacht of elderly billionaire Malcolm Quince. When Quince is murdered, they become the prime suspects in a modern day whodunit.”

I have a feeling this will be the first of many endeavors between Netflix and Aniston.

Adam Sandler forgot to zip up!

How many times have you thought to yourself, when was the last time that Adam Sandler made me laugh? Well, he found a way to do it, it just was not in one of his movies. The actor was posing on the red carpet at the Gotham Awards, when someone informed him that he forgot to zip up. Instead of running to the nearest bathroom, he fixed himself up right then and there. And that is the funniest thing he has done since Fifty First Dates in 2004. Actually I enjoyed Blended, but not many others did.

Could The Meyerowitz Stories be the least funny comedy movie ever?
August 15th, 2017 under Adam Sandler, Ben Stiller, Dustin Hoffman, Netflix. [ Comments: none ]

Adam Sandler and Ben Stiller comedies are either hit or miss, but for the most part miss. So what happens if you pair the two of them up for a dramedy? Either a movie of theirs that is laugh out loud funny or one so awful people will leave the theaters crying in pain. Soon we will find out the answer to this question when their Netflix movie The Meyerowitz Stories (New and Selected), which also stars Dustin Hoffman, comes out on Friday the 13th. I think the release date says it all. Don’t you agree? Granted after watching that teaser you know it is going to be their worst films to date and that says a lot after Zoolander 2 and Jack & Jill. Should I go on?

Does Chris Rock and Adam Sandler have something to tell us?
July 28th, 2017 under Adam Sandler, Chris Rock, Do they have something to tell us?. [ Comments: none ]

Adam Sandler and Chris Rock were photographed in bed together and you have to wonder if the two grown ups have something to tell us. Yes, but not what you think. They are filming the Netflix movie The Week Of, but it appears they have all the makings of what makes a night of. Whatever that means!

This how The Do-Over should’ve been!
July 7th, 2016 under Adam Sandler, David Spade, Netflix. [ Comments: none ]

I am one of those rare people who likes Adam Sandler’s movies. For every like 5 bad ones, there is at least one good one. That is what keeps me watching them.
Well, The Do-Over is one of those bad ones. When Netflix released a trailer called The Do-Over being Done-Over, I had to see what it was all about it. This is how the movie should’ve been.
I skimmed the plotline for the film and thought it was about two friends, who go to their high school reunion and get a do over. I thought that they died, came back and got a second chance. I was greatly mistaken.
The movie was a true horror to watch. And I am not even referring to an 83 year old Renee Taylor going topless at the end of the movie. My eyes are still not recovered.
Anyways, must move on for my eyes. Seeing The Do-Over re-imagined as a horror movie, thinks Netflix screwed up by not insisting it be done that way.
If you find yourself wanting to Netflix & Chill with this flick, then make sure to shut it off when they get to the pool scene at the end. Your eyes will thanks me.
