How huggable is Jason Ritter?
October 10th, 2017 under ABC, Guinness World Records, Jason Ritter, The View. [ Comments: 3 ]

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=85oxtsOh3KA&feature=youtu.be
Jason Ritter stars in the very endearing, must watch Kevin (Probaly) Saves the World Tuesdays at 10p on ABC, and his character has to hug people to help save the world. Therefore, ABC declared today National Hug-a-Kevin Day. Where are Kevin Bacon and Kevin Spacey when you need him? And ladies, I am pretty Kevin Hart’s wife would not like you to hug him today. Too soon?

Anyways, to honor the day, yesterday on The View, Ritter attempted to break the Most Hugs in Minute. The record belongs to someone who hugged 79 people in :60 seconds. Is Ritter now in the Guinness Book of World Records? Yes he is! He hugged 86 people in the allotted time and some more afterwards. Proving that he is not probably, but he is the most huggable guy in the world.

BTW Am I the only one who sees his father, the late John Ritter, in him?

Finally, his equally huggable costar JoAnna Garcia helped him prep for the title over the weekend. To see their rehearsal that did not go that well, then click here!

It is terrific Tuesdays on ABC!
October 3rd, 2017 under ABC, The Middle. [ Comments: none ]

ABC has changed up their Tuesday lineup this season and it is a winner. So much so, I am going to call it Tuesrific!

The night starts off at 8p with the final season of The Middle. Something I am not OK with, but I will enjoy the final episodes as we have them.

The season premiere picks up as the end of the summer and Axl (Charlie McDermott) and his man bun is back from Europe. He is much more lax and wants his stressed out family to relax too. His mom (Patricia Heaton) is stressed out about finding something for the Hecks to put in the town’s time capsule. Sue (Eden Sher) is stressed that she did not do enough this summer, so she is trying to pack it all in in three days. His dad (Neill Flynn) is stressed because he wants his oldest child to get a job and Axl has no intention of doing so. Finally, Brick (Atticus Shaffer) is stressed because he wants to break up with his girlfriend and does not know how to do it.

Will Axl be stressed again by the end of the day or will his family be more lax? You will have to watch this sitcom’s enjoyable final season premiere to find out.

Then at 8:30p, Fresh Off the Boat is back and The Huangs have no where to live. Honey (Chelsey Crisp) invites them to live with her until they find a place, but they are the easiest people to live with. Honey does her best to put up with them, and she looks she about the break. Jessica (Constance Wu) does not feel the tension between them, and she invites her hostess to be her partner on Wheel of Fortune with her for Best Friends Week. That is when Honey finally loses it, and confronts her “best friend,” what happens next is something you do not want to miss. That and Pat Sajak and Vanna White also fighting.

Meanwhile Eddie and Honey’s stepdaughter, Nicole (Luna Blaise) get really close and she confesses something to him. How will react to it? You do not want to miss their special moment or the show in general. Oh and Michael Bolton is back!

Then at 9:30p after Black-ish, The Mayor makes its debut. Courtney Rose (Brandon Micheal Hall) is a Rapper who decides to run for mayor of Fort Grey to promote his music. Although that is his intention, he actually proves himself to be a good candidate for the job. So good, he wins the election. Is he up for the job?

His mom (Yvette Nicole Brown) and his high school nemesis Val (Lea Michele), who becomes his right hand woman, will do their best to get him into shape for the job that he is so not prepared to do. Will they be able to do it? Will he step up to his new responsibility? You just have to check out this endearing half hour show to find out. By the end of the episode you will be voting to watch this show every week.

Then at 10p, the night concludes with Kevin (Probably) Saves the World. Kevin (Jason Ritter) is aimless and he returns home to live with his widowed sister, Amy (JoAnna Garcia Swisher) and her daughter, Reese (Chloe East), who is still not over her father’s death. She also is not a fan of her uncle who was not there for her when her dad died.

One night Amy is called away and Kevin is stuck taking care of niece. As the two of them are looking outside they see a light shoot through the sky. They go to investigate and Kevin makes the mistake of touching it. It throws him backwards and causes him to lose time. Not only that, he starts seeing Yvette (Kimberly Hebert Gregory), an angel who tells him he is the last messenger for his generation and he needs to recruit the new messengers. He doesn’t feel very special, but he has been chosen to be that way. Little by little, he is going to feel that way and with that you have a show that is full of so much heart and joy. Something we all
need these days.

The second new show to get a full season is…
October 3rd, 2017 under ABC. [ Comments: none ]

The Good Doctor is doing so well, that after just 2 episodes ABC picked it up for a full season. How well is it doing? Not only did it have more viewers than its lead in Dancing with the Stars, it also had almost twice that show’s audience in the 18-49 demo. Not only that it also had almost as many eyes on it as its competition The Brave and Scorpion combined. In other words, it was a no brainer that it got the bottom 9 today.

Which I am perfectly fine with because it is my favorite new show of the season. I would be shocked if Freddie Highmore is not nominated for an Emmy for his role as Dr Murphy. He plays it with such heart, you cannot help but to love him.

Lots of good TV to watch!
September 27th, 2017 under ABC, CBS, Dick Wolf, Empire. [ Comments: none ]

American Housewife is back for its second season tonight at 9:30p on its new night and time after Modern Family. What happens in September besides the new Fall TV season, school starts. It is time for the Otto kids to go back to school.

Their oldest Taylor (Meg Donnelly) decided she does not want to go to college. Their middle child Oliver (Daniel DiMaggio) is taking ballet and his teacher is really tough on him. Katie (Katy Mixon) goes to one of his classes and has it out with his teacher. That is not the only person she has it out with, she has it out with all of the moms at Anna-Kat’s school (Julia Butters). Then one of the moms says something to her that make hers reevaluate everything. To make matters worse, her husband (Diedrich Bader) wants to have another kid.

American Housewife got the coveted post-Modern Family slot because it has proven that is the type of show that can go on for many seasons. Tonight’s episode proves it and I cannot wait for the rest of the episodes.

Then at 10p, Designated Survivor is also back for its second season. It has been a year since someone blew up the US Capitol with almost every federal politician in it and Tom Kirkman (Kiefer Sutherland), the designated survivor, became President of the United States.

He has accomplished a lot and been through even more during those 366 days. Tonight, he has to deal with a plane that has been taken hostage full of people from all over the world including several US citizens. One of them is his friend. To make it even more complicated for him, the man who blew up the Capitol is still on the loose. Can he save everyone before it is too late?

The press has so many questions about the bomber and the press secretary has turned in a Sean Spicer. Because of that Seth Wright (Kal Penn) is not sure he is the right man for the job. Can Emily (Italia Ricci) convince him to say?

Kirkman’s second year in office is proving to be just as thrilling for us to watch as his first.

At 9p but over on CBS, David Boreanaz returns to TV after a whole summer off in SEAL Team. The military drama follows a team of elite Navy Seals who risk not only their physical lives but also their personal ones. Jason Hayes (Boreanaz) leads his team into difficult situations to save the world from danger. That means they leave their families behind and some times that costs them the people they love the most. As the series goes on, you will see how much they give up to protect people they do not know sacrificing the ones they do know.

When it comes to the show, I did not really care for the pilot. Thankfully, CBS sent out a second episode and that one is so much better. What I am trying to say, is do not give up this show just yet because it gets better. I even added it to my Season Pass.

At 8p over on Fox, Empire is back but Lucious’ memory is not. He is still dealing with the after effects of the explosion. He is finally home with his family, but he does not remember his past with them. Which is a good thing for him if you think about it. He has a nurse (Demi Moore), who is looking after him, and she is trying to protect him from the Lyons. Something Cookie (Taraji P Hensen) will fight her hardest to prevent. Cookie want him to be business as usual but he is not ready to do it.

Who will win out? You will have to tune in to find out. Empire got a much needed jolt this season. Therefore, if you gave up on the show, it is time to come back.

At 9p but over on NBC, Law & Order: SVU is back for its 19th season. Fin (Ice-T) went to Cuba to bring back a serial rapist and something fishy happened when he was bringing his suspect back to the States. Now that suspect has hired a lawyer who will do his best to get his client off because of that. If the SVU team cannot get his victim to testify, the rapist will walk free even though his DNA was found at the scenes of the crime.

But that is not only the reason to tune in, Benson (Mariska Hargitay) answers the door and old friend is on the other side of it. He has some shocking news for her, that will set up a huge story arc for her character this season. But that is all I will say. That and there is a reason why this show made it to its 19th season and counting.

I diagnose The Good Doctor as very good and The Brave is thrilling!
September 25th, 2017 under ABC, NBC. [ Comments: none ]

Tonight is the official start of the Fall television season, and my favorite new drama debuts on ABC tonight 10p. The Good Doctor is from David Shore, who brought us House. If you loved that drama, then you will adore this medical show where the lead is not a miserable genius.

Dr Shaun Murphy (Freddie Highmore) is a young pediatric surgeon who was diagnosed with autism and savant syndrome. Dr Aaron Glassman, who is also President of the San Jose St. Bonaventure Hospital, wants his friend to work there, but the board is against it. Glassman is pleading his case as Murphy is traveling to the new job he think he has.

While Murphy is at the airport, a sign crashes into a poster stand sending glass raining down on an 8-year-old boy. A doctor runs to the aid the injured boy, but Murphy tells him he is going to kill him because the procedure he is doing is meant for an adult. Now the two doctors are in rush against time to save the child. Every time they think they succeeded, something else goes wrong. Luckily, Murphy has the brain of a genius to help the patient, but his verbal skills make communicating with other people difficult.

When he finally gets to the hospital, he gets resistance from the other doctors. Will they listen to him because he has life-saving knowledge to share with them or will they ignore the strange man? Also at the hospital, it looks Glassman is losing his case. Will anything change their mind?

The Good Doctor is not like the other medical dramas. It is not soapy like Grey’s Anatomy. It is not busy like Code Black and Chicago Med with way too many characters. It is in the middle and perfect for Monday nights. Plus, Highmore is brilliant as a doctor who is beyond brilliant. You do not need a prescription to watch this show, you just need to tune in to fall in love with it.

Then on NBC at the same time is the first of the many military related dramas this season to debut. The Brave is about America’s elite undercover military unit who saves the lives of innocent people in some of the world’s most dangerous places. While the Defense Intelligence Agency uses advanced technology in DC, an elite team of military experts are out in the field risking their lives to save the life of someone else.

In DC, there is D.I.A. Deputy Director Patricia Campbell (Anne Heche) and her team of analysts including veterans Cultural Specialist Noah Morgenthau (Tate Ellington) and Mission Coordinator Hannah Archer (Sofia Pernas), and in the field there’s Captain Adam Dalton (Mike Vogel) and his heroic Special Ops squad of highly trained undercover specialists carry out each mission on the ground. His team is armed with incredible sniper Sgt Jasmine ‘Jaz’ Khan (Natacha Karam), CPO Ezekiel “Preach” Carter (Demetrius Grosse), combat medic Sgt Joseph “McG” McGuire (Noah Mills) and intelligence officer Agent Amir Al-Raisani (Hadi Tabbal).

On tonight’s series premiere, a doctor is kidnapped in an Arabian country and there is no motive for it. As DC tracks her whereabouts, they think they figured it out. They start working on bringing her back, but then she is taken to an area that changes everything. They thought they had weeks to rescue her, but now they are lucky if they even have days. Just as they are getting close, her kidnappers go on the move. The motive is not clear why and when they find out why they find out the team is getting more than they bargained for. Will they be able to rescue her before it is too late?

The Brave is a procedural with a military twist, just when you think you figured it out. You find out you did not. That is what makes it so exciting and addictive from the very first episode.
