For the first time in almost 10 years, Loni Anderson is returning to television. The last time we saw her on the small screen, she was playing Tori Spelling’s mom on So NoTorious. Now she will be playing Bonnie’s mom on Freeform’s Wednesday night comedy Baby Daddy later this year.
As excited as Melissa Peterman is to have the 70 year old knockout play her mother, her husband was even more excited. Peterman revealed that it was the first time that he visited the set in 5 seasons. Can you blame him? Anderson looks just like she did when she played Jennifer on WKRP in Cincinnati over 35 years ago. She never ages!
BTW I hope Baby Daddy is just the start of Anderson’s acting comeback because Hollywood has been missing her.
Tonight at 8p on Freeform, Recovery Road picks up where it left off last week. Trish (Kyla Pratt) is in tears because her mother took her daughter and she doesn’t know where they went. Trish called the police and now they are asking her questions to assist with the search. She is inconsolable until Maddie (Jessica Sula) comes up with a solution. Now Trish is opening up to the police officers, but there is something very important she is leaving out. Something so shocking, you will be speechless. So much so, you will not want to wait a week to find out what happens next.
BTW that isn’t the only shocking moment in tonight’s episode that turns out to be a major game changer. So don’t miss a single second of it.

Also at 8p, but on the Smithsonian Channel the new series Major League Legends takes the bat. Each week, they will feature episodes dedicated to baseball greats that everyone knows. Tonight’s episode gives us the backstory of Hank Aaron. He is known as the first African-American to play professional baseball, but how much more do you know about him? With this show you will learn his story and what he went through from his mouth, archived news footage and his fans. It is a history our kids should know about and more importantly we should know about.
Next week, they will feature Babe Ruth, then Ted Williams and finally Lou Gehrig. We know their names, we know their stats, now let’s get to know them.
Major League Legends scores a home run whether you are a fan of the sport or not. If love the game, then this is a must watch and record. If not, you will still say this show came out swinging.
Also debuting tonight, but at 10p on Discovery is Rockin’ Roadsters. When you think of ZZ Top, you think of their music, their beards and their cars. This show is about the latter. Billy Gibbons loves his hot rods and he recruits Jimmy Shine to make his dream cars come true. What does he want to do with it? You will be surprised to find out what this Rocker’s desires are for it.
Together Gibbons and Shine will go looking for an automobile they can customize. Then when they find it, it is up to Shine to Shine. You will watch him convert a piece of junk into the hottest hot rod you’ve ever seen. This show has legs and they know how to use them.

Also at 10p but on NBC, Blindspot is finally back. The episode picks up where it left off and we learn a little more about Jane (Jaimie Alexander) as she learns about herself. But there is only so much we will find out because life goes on and she has to go back to work. Together, they will investigate a case that you can tell was inspired by a story from two years ago that captivated the world. It is interesting take on it and you wonder if that could’ve happened. Got you curious right? Then watch it!
Lucy Hale was on The Late Late Show yesterday and James Corden asked her if the rumors are true that the show is ending next season. After trying to avoid the answer she told him, “It is ending.” What? Then she added, “We’ve been doing it for 6 years. I’ve literally spent my 20’s on the show and I think that all good things come to an end.” But then she said, “Who knows what can happen?” Even though she loves the people she works with and the show, it is just time.
At that point, the CBS late night host asked her how she wants the soapy drama to end. She told him, “I used to say I wanted the show to end, walking away in the sunset. They are all happy, living an A free life. No drama.” But now there is a, “But, I don’t. I want it to end really tragically.”
Are you sad that she made the news official or did you want the show to go on and on and on? I think the actresses are ready to move to bigger and better things, and I can’t wait to see what is next for them. Hale truly is a star in the making and so are her co-stars Troian Bellisario, Ashley Benson and Shay Mitchell.
Young & Hungry is a comedy about a man and a woman who should be together, but just can’t seem to make it happen. On the first episode, Josh (Jonathan Sadowski) hired Gabi (Emily Osment) to be his personal Chef. The first night she cooked for him, they had a little too much to drink and slept together. Only problem, he’s engaged. The two of them decided to keep their relationship strictly a professional one.
As the season went on, Gabi and Josh started to grow feelings for each other, but he was getting married. She wound meeting a new guy and Josh set the date for his nuptials. Then as his big day approached, he realized he was with the wrong woman, but it was too late because Gabi left on plane with that other man.
She finally returned to San Fransisco, but she was still with that other guy who was half way around the world. Eventually, she realized she still liked Josh. But it wasn’t enough, so they continued to date other people…a lot of other people.
Then when last season ended, she was dating a new guy, Josh’s brother. But a grand gesture on Josh’s part made her re-evaluate how she felt about him. So when he showed up where she was at, she knew what she had to do. And that gets you caught up to tonight’s episode on Freeform at 8p.
Does Emily Osment want Josh and Gabi to get together and make it work? She recently told me when I visited the set, “I don’t want them to get together because I feel like it is that Rachel and Ross old tale of once they are together, the audience is satisfied and then what? Then you are just in a happy relationship and that is not good TV.” Then she added, “I think the writers are doing a very smart of job of planning when they get together, planning how long they are going to be together, what is going to tear them apart and who is going to be next. With Gabi there is always somebody, which I find very hilarious.”
Another thing she is enjoying, is the changes to the show since ABC Family became Freeform a few weeks ago. She revealed how it has changed the show, “We are pushing the limit now that we are on Freeform. The things we are able to do, the bracket has widened a little bit and we are taking that to our full advantage.” What does that mean? She said, “Well there’s a little more nudity. It’s a little more suggestive. It’s played more real.” Explaining, “If you think about it, anybody who’s dating in their 20’s and 30’s, come across a lot of topics that are sex related. I think we are kind of exploring that a little bit more. Which is funny because obviously we are a comedy and we are not going to play anything to real but the jokes that we make involving sex are pretty hysterical.”
If you thought Young & Hungry was pretty hysterical beforehand, it is even going to be even more hysterical this season. I don’t know how they are going to make this hysterical show even more hysterical, but I know that they will. That is enough of a reason to tune in.
Young & Hungry is back tonight at 8p on the same network but with a different name, ABC Family is now Freeform. I recently sat with the show’s star Jonathan Sadowski, who plays the multi-millionaire businessman Josh Kaminski, and he told me how that name change is going to affect his deliciously sweet sitcom. He said, “The show has been a little edgy for ABC Family, but we are definitely pushing the envelope this season. There are some scenes that are jaw dropping scenes.”
When I asked him if he could give me a hint, he said, “Scantily clad people!” Can we expect those scantily people to be Gabi (Emily Osment) and him finally together? He responded with, “You can expect that, whether it is going to happen or not, you are just going to have to tune in to see on season 3.” So what it is going on between the boss and his chef’s, on again, off again, in love with someone else, in love with another person and in love with that other person, relationship? He revealed, “I think it is evidently clear that we’ve expressed our feelings for each other over and over, just a series of near misses. I think if and when it happens, the writers know what they are doing.”
Sadowski loves the character that the writers created for him. He told me, “I mean who doesn’t like to get to play a multi-millionaire who is a big kid that loves toys gadgets.” Then he added, “I definitely share a lot of traits with Josh. We are big kids at heart, both kind of geeky. We are loyal to a fault, always protecting our friends and family. He’s a great character to play, I love it.” Why does he love it so much? He gleefully explained why, “I love playing Josh because he is a guy that people root for. Like I said he is loyal to a fault. He is honest. He is genuinely a great guy. Don’t get me it is wrong, it fun to play a villain too. This is a guy you want to be friends with. This is a guy you want to win. This is the guy you want to see wind up with the girl.”
Will he wind up with the girl? We will just have to keep tuning in every Wednesday at 8p to see if he gets Gabi. And if he doesn’t get her, then who will he get? He is definitely a catch for all the reasons that he listed and so many more.
