Back in 1988, we fell in love with the ’60s again thanks to The Wonder Years. Now that everyone is getting a revival or a reboot, Vanity Fair asked Fred Savage if he would one based in the ’90s?
He does not mind you pitching him ideas for the reunion, but he says “No, it’s not going to happen.” Then he explained why, “You know, I’ve always said that The Wonder Years, it’s not just the name of the show—it’s a time in your life, a very special, finite time in your life. And the way the show was written, it’s about looking back with some longing. I think we all look back at that time in our lives and long for it and idealize it. One of the reasons it takes on this kind of mythic, almost haunting quality in our lives is because it’s something you can’t go back to and can’t revisit. It only exists in our memories, in our shared experiences with people who went through it with us. That’s really what the show was all about. And I think that the idea of revisiting the show mirrors that. And I like that.”
I think they could recapture that feeling again. Let us get to know the Arnold family in their future and our past. Plus, if they could revive Dan Conner for the Roseanne revival, why can’t they do the same for The Wonder Years for their patriarch. Would you watch Kevin Arnold again?
Did you know that Spandau Ballet is still around and performing? I did not know that until Go West’s Richard Drummie (who still just as sexy!)Tweeted that the lead singer announced that he was leaving the band.
Tony Hadley released this statement about his departure, “Due to circumstances beyond my control, it is with deep regret that I am required to state that I am no longer a member of the band Spandau Ballet and as such I will not be performing with the band in the future.” You can tell this was not an amicable split from his cryptic message.
Something that seems to have been confirmed by the band’s statement, “Much to our frustration, Tony had made it clear in September 2016 that he didn’t want to work with the band anymore. This has not changed and 2015 was the last time we were able to perform or work with him. So we have now made the decision to move on as a band.”
A decision I think will be costly for them. No offense to the Kemp brothers, but Spandau Ballet is all about Hadley’s GOLDen voice. Not that many bands can survive losing their lead singer and I doubt this one will make it. Then again, did we know they reunited two years ago?
And with that, I am going to have True stuck in my head all day long. On that note, I ask you which side do you think is being true with their statement?
Back in the ’80s, girls who were Sexy & 17 wanted to be in a Centerfold! Or basically they wanted Brian Setzer to sing Stray Cat Strut to them and when he was done the wanted Peter Wolf to serenade them with I Do. But that was when they were the lead singers of Stray Cats and the J Geils Band respectively.
Since then, they have gone their own way, and yesterday they met up at SummerFest in Milwaukee. What we got was this photo of two of the biggest singers from the ’80s in 2017.
Can you believe Setzer is 58 and Wolf is 71 because they still look like the heartthrobs they were over 3 decades ago. They do not have the turn the Lights Out because they can still Rock this Town! Don’t you agree?
Remember whenever they showed Julia Sugarbaker’s house on Designing Women, you wished you could own it? Well now you can if you have $975,000 to buy Villa Marre. While the show was based in Atlanta, the beautiful home is actually located in Little Rock, Arkansas.
According to the realtors The Janet Jones Company, the Victorian house that was built 1881 has “huge over-sized rooms, two parlors, dining room, large vintage kitchen, sweeping staircase, 1.5 baths, 3 bedrooms.”
If you think it looks beautiful on the outside, it is even more stunning on the inside. The classic comedy did not do it justice. As impressive as the staircase was on the sitcom, the real one is even more spectacular.
I am so in love with the Villa Marre, I was wondering if someone will give me a $1,000,000, so I can call it my own. I will even let you stay there for free anytime you are in Little Rock.
Back in 1980, Airplane! made audiences laugh like they never laughed before. Now, almost 37 years later, some of the cast and the director reunited at a charity event for The Achievable Foundation last week.
The reunion included Frank Ashmore (Victor Basta, he was in the cockpit), Lorna Patterson (Randy the Stewardess), Robert Hays (Ted Striker, the man who saved the day), Lee Bryant (Mrs. Hammen, the woman people lined up to slap after she loses it), David Zucker (Director), Joyce Bulifant (Mrs Davis, the mother of a sick child), Jill Whelan (Lisa Davis, the sick child who almost got killed by a guitar playing nun).
Seeing them all together like that makes me wish they would finally do Airplane 3. They do not make parody movies like that anymore. Granted, we do not have Leslie Nielsen anymore, but Hays and Julie Hagerty also have something special when it comes to comedic timing. And that is no Jive talk that the late Barbara Billingsley could translate for us.
I am off to watch Airplane for the millionth time because just like the actors, it never gets old.
