Jimmy Kimmel has said that he was ready to quit Jimmy Kimmel Live. However, when push came to shove, he signed on the dotted line for 3 more years.
When he was on Howard Stern’s radio yesterday, the late night explained why he decided to stay on. “I was having a hard time with the leaving part of it. I don’t just mean leaving. I mean what you have to go through. The emotional toll that it takes,” he said. “You got 6 months, you got to wrap it up. And it was easier for me to go, ‘hey, I will worry about that in 3 years.'”
So, in 3 years, he will sign another contract because he won’t be ready to say goodbye then either. And then, 3 years after that, it will happen again. It will be a vicious cycle until one of them decides to cut the cord.
Katie Couricsicj has become the face of colon cancer after losing her first husband to the disease. She encouraged people to get screened when they turned 50.
The newswoman took getting screened for pap smears and mammograms seriously. However, she missed her last mammogram. So when she went to see her gynecologist, she reminded her to go get one.
So, she went in on June 20th and got one, plus an ultrasound because she has dense breasts. The next day was her 8th wedding anniversary to her second husband. Instead of celebrating, she got the news from her doctor that she had breast cancer but would be fine.
Couric and her oncologist came up with a plan. “We decided I would have ‘breast conservation’ surgery, aka a lumpectomy. She would make an incision right around my areola. She said she’d try to make sure any scars would be covered by my bathing suit — the furthest thing from my mind,” she said. “Surgery would be followed by radiation and medication — specifically, something called an ‘aromatase inhibitor’ I’d need to take for five years.”
Yesterday was her final round of radiation, and she feels “fine.”
Why did she come forward now? She says, “Well, since I’m the Screen Queen’ of colon cancer, it seemed odd to not use this as another teachable moment that could save someone’s life.” So she will be spending October talking about breast cancer on her website.
Yesterday, Ryan Reynolds asked Hugh Jackman if he would revive Wolverine for Deadpool 3, and the X-Man said yes.
But how is that possible since Wolverine died in Logan? Today, the frenemies explained how. However, I missed their explanation because, for some reason, Wham’s Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go was playing in my head. No matter how many times I replayed the video, the song would play when they were explaining how.
Damn you, George Michael and Andrew Ridgely, for your earworm of a song.
Deadpool 3 is coming out on September 6, 2024. Hopefully, the happy tune will be out of my head by then.
Police procedurals have become so serious, and that makes things more depressing. However, The Rookie: Feds is bringing some levity into the genre thanks to Niecy Nash’s huge upbeat personality. She is so likable that it sucks you in, and you don’t want to be set free.
The episode starts off with her graduating from the FBI Academy with Brendon Acres (Kevin Zegers). He is a former actor who decided to see the sunlight again. He is most known for playing Vampire Cop, and that works both for and against him.
The two of them are heading to LA to work with Matthew Garza’s (Feliz Solis) new unit. Garza started it because of the time he caught a terrorist with Simone Clark (Nash). When they get there, she finds out she will not be part of his team. Instead, she is going to work in background checks. Do you think she is going to take that lying down? Or should I say sitting in a chair? Of course not, so you have to see how she is going to wiggle her way into the unit.
The unit has two other agents. They are Laura Stensen (Britt Robertson). She is the observant profiler who is going through her own issues. However, you can’t tell because she is stoic.
Then there is Carter Hope (James Leisure), who wants a promotion, and he never seems to get one. He is a by-the-books guy, so he doesn’t like Simone, who is the complete opposite.
Something she got from her father (Frankie R. Faison). As happy as he is to have his daughter home, he doesn’t like her profession. They live in an area where cops are something to be feared, and not in a good way. He is going to keep his daughter grounded and remind her where she is from. And that makes her a better Fed in LA!
And there is not much I can say to make this show better because it is so much fun. Yeah, I said it, a police procedural can be fun. A big reason for that is that the cast already has a lot of chemistry, and the writing is more relaxed with a go big or go home mentality. So together, it all works. And I can see this show being around for a long time because people are going to love it. The genre has been needing something enjoyable like this for a while.
