CBS wants more SWAT!
April 8th, 2022 under Shemar Moore. [ Comments: none ]

CBS normally picks up most of their shows in one fall swoop. However, this year they are doing it much more slowly.

So far, they have picked up CSI: Vegas, The Neighborhood, Bob Hearts Abishola, Ghosts, Young Sheldon, and three NCISes.

Today, they added SWAT to the list, and Shemar Moore is super excited to be back for season 6. He is not the only one, and so are the crew and his co-stars. Listen to how happy they are about the news. You can tell this is a set where everyone enjoys coming to work, and there is a lot of camaraderie between them all.

Congrats on the renewal!

Will Smith was banned from the Oscars for the next 10 years
April 8th, 2022 under Oscars, Will Smith. [ Comments: none ]

Less than two weeks after Will Smith slapped Chris Rock at the Oscars, the Academy of Motion Pictures, Arts and Sciences has come up with a punishment for the disgraced actor.

Smith will have to spend the next ten years watching the Oscars from home like almost every other actor in the biz. He also will not be allowed to attend any Academy event during that time.

AMPAS gave this statement to Variety:
“The 94th Oscars were meant to be a celebration of the many individuals in our community who did incredible work this past year; however, those moments were overshadowed by the unacceptable and harmful behavior we saw Mr. Smith exhibit on stage.

During our telecast, we did not adequately address the situation in the room. For this, we are sorry. This was an opportunity for us to set an example for our guests, viewers and our Academy family around the world, and we fell short — unprepared for the unprecedented.

Today, the Board of Governors convened a meeting to discuss how best to respond to Will Smith’s actions at the Oscars, in addition to accepting his resignation. The Board has decided, for a period of 10 years from April 8, 2022, Mr. Smith shall not be permitted to attend any Academy events or programs, in person or virtually, including but not limited to the Academy Awards.

We want to express our deep gratitude to Mr. Rock for maintaining his composure under extraordinary circumstances. We also want to thank our hosts, nominees, presenters and winners for their poise and grace during our telecast.

This action we are taking today in response to Will Smith’s behavior is a step toward a larger goal of protecting the safety of our performers and guests, and restoring trust in the Academy. We also hope this can begin a time of healing and restoration for all involved and impacted.”

So, now that Smith cannot attend the Oscars, is he still eligible to be nominated and possibly win another one. Yes, he is, and yes, he can.

Personally, I think he needs to hold a press conference, give a heartfelt apology (not like his BS acceptance speech with crocodile tears), and hand back his Oscar. Then he can get a fake one on Hollywood Blvd and no one will be the wiser that it is not the real thing.

Do you think the punishment is harsh enough?

Does pantless Asher Grodman go commando on Ghosts?
April 8th, 2022 under Ghosts. [ Comments: none ]

Asher Grodman’s ghost on Ghosts died without his pants and boxers on, so Trevor is left to spend the afterlife dressed the same way. While that is his character, does the actor go full Scottish on the CBS comedy?

Yesterday, when the actor was on The Talk, the hosts asked him that very question. Richie Moriarty revealed that his co-star wears a nude speedo, aka a dancer’s belt, under his shirt, jacket, and tie.

Was anyone else hoping that Grodman would keep it authentic to Trevor’s demise? But then again, in the Me Too era, one lost button, and the show and the actor could become ghosts.

The Real got the realest news today, it was cancelled
April 8th, 2022 under The Real. [ Comments: 11 ]

There are a lot of daytime talk shows that are ending/were canceled this year. Today we learned that there is one more that is joining The Ellen DeGeneres Show, The Wendy Williams Show, The Maury Povich Show, Judge Jerry, Dr. Oz, his daughter’s show, The Doctors, Daily Mail TV, and The Nick Cannon Show, and that show is The Real.

Loni Love, who was part of The Real for all 8 seasons, has her theory of why it is ending. The comedian wrote, “In the end The Real cast & crew did everything we could to scale the show down..We shot 7-8 shows in 3 days, no audience, made a conference room into a studio, but in my opinion Covid costs killed this show.. it’s been a great ride and thanks to the viewers for 8 great seasons!”

I think Love nailed it. COVID cost a lot of money, and the shows all lost viewers, and with that, they are going for cheaper replacements like Jennifer Hudson’s show that no one will watch. CBS got creative to save Drew Barrymore’s talk show. They are splitting her hour-long show into two half hours and are letting the local channels air an extra thirty minutes of their own newscast.

Daytime is going to look a whole lot different in the Fall. It will be interesting to see if people are still going to be watching all of these new people and their shows.

On that note, who is replacing Ellen? Why haven’t they announced that yet? Things that make you go, hmmm?
