What does American Idol going to ABC mean for Modern Family?
May 9th, 2017 under Modern Family. [ Comments: none ]

Next Tuesday, ABC is going to announce its 2017-2018 season. We know that American Idol is going to be on it, but what about Modern Family? Wait, what? You thought that show was renewed for a season 9 already. Nope, in fact it hasn’t been because the actors have yet to sign their contracts.

Last week, the producers were confident that they would be back. The other day when Eric Stonestreet taped an appearance with Larry King Now, he too was optimistic. But then…ABC announced today that they picked up American Idol and you know that wasn’t cheap. Did Idol’s price tag cost Modern Family its renewal? We don’t know. But I wouldn’t be surprised if that is causing problems with their negotiations.

Here’s what Stonestreet said about them (before Idol was official) on the Ora TV show, “I don’t know what the future holds but everyone’s hopeful and pretty confident we will be back for a 9th season and hopefully a 10th season.”

Then King wanted to know if they all get the paid the same. The 6 adult actors all get paid the same, while the under 30’s make a different salary than them. Which in a way is weird because I think Sarah Hyland and Ariel Winter are more bankable than some of the big 6. Since the over 30’s get same amount in their paycheck, does that mean that they negotiate together. Cam said, “In a sense…We all have individual agents, but we all, kind of, agree that none of us are going back to work for anything less than the rest of everybody.”

Back in 2012, the actors went on strike over their previous contract. Will they do the same now? Can they afford to? Back then the show was getting much better numbers and award nominations. Now, even though they are still a top-rated sitcom, but the other comedies on Wednesday night are catching up in the ratings.

That is something for ABC to decide and they don’t have a lot of time to do so. They could announce next week that the comedy will be back for another season without the contracts being signed and still work on getting their names on the dotted line. Then what happens if they don’t. They could replace it with a new show because there are always backups.

When it comes to the actors, I think American Idol just hurt their chances of getting a much bigger raise. I still think they will get one, just not as big.

How do I feel about the show coming back? I can take it or leave it. What do you think?

Don’t call Pauley Perrette, Abby!
May 9th, 2017 under CBS. [ Comments: 4 ]

For the last 14 years, Pauley Perrette has playing Abby Sciuto on the World’s most watched show, so it should be no surprise that people, when they meet her, call her by her NCIS character’s name. While she should be flattered that people even know who she is, she Tweeted, “In response, Hello! My name is Pauley. Abby is a fictional character who ‘works’ for fictional characters. Thanks!”

Pauley, you are no Mark Harmon, and that is why people might not know your real name when they see you in person. Be happy they even know who you are because who were you before the CBS procedural? Who will you be afterwards? Abby made you rich and let’s you do all you want to do. Embrace it, don’t shun it.

I am sorry, I hate when celebs don’t like to be known for the characters that gives them the lives they desired. I am talking to all you Chachis, Screeches and Urkels out there. You are just as much your character as you are yourself. Don’t like it, then, I say, go behind the scenes and do what the people who make you look and sound good do. You know the people whose names we don’t know.

Jon Hamm, is that a MacBook in your pocket?
May 9th, 2017 under In Your Pocket?, Jon Hamm. [ Comments: 3 ]

It has been a while since we have seen Jon Hamm and I am not talking about him as a person. I know he doesn’t like to be objectified, but it is so hard not to. Plus, I am equal opportunity objectifier. I talk about both men and women’s bodies equally. Although, most men are not equal to him.

The winner of American Idol is…
May 9th, 2017 under American Idol 9+. [ Comments: none ]

After just a year off, American Idol has a new home for its Sweet 16 season. ABC made it official today by announcing they beat out Fox, NBC and CBS to reboot the musical competition.

What we know so far. The show will air on ABC next season, most likely not until 2018. What we don’t know is everything else.

What does this mean for Dancing with the Stars? Does this mean it will still air in the Fall, while Idol will air in the Spring? Normally, they air The Bachelor in between Dancing’s seasons, so will they air Idol instead and move The Bachelor to a new night? Most likely it will be Dancing, The Bachelor, Idol, but we will know more next week.

Why did I bring up Dancing before the host and judges that have not be decided yet either? Because I think ABC should look at some of the past contestants of Dancing to be their host. Yes, I am saying it again, I don’t think they should go with Ryan Seacrest. They need to start completely over if they want the show to succeed. Who do I think should host? I think Joey Fatone would be a great person to fill Seacrest’s shoes.

When it comes to the judges, they need to compete with the names on The Voice. No hasbeens like they used to do on Idol. I think Josh Groban would be a great choice because he has a natural voice and that is important to coaching these kids. I also think they need a former Idol, and I would go with Kelly Clarkson or Kelly Pickler. They are sweet and have down stuff in music since their time on the show. I don’t like Adam Lambert and I think he would be bitchy to be bitchy. When it comes to the third judge, I think it needs to be a musician like Jay-Z who also has managing a record company on their resume. No fourth judge. That doesn’t work. ABC see Dancing.

We also don’t know where it will be filmed, but it needs to be LA. That is its home, not NY. As someone who lived in both cities, I don’t think Manhattan has the same feel as LA.

When it comes to if I am excited the show is coming back? No. I stopped watching after they added Jennifer Lopez and I don’t miss it. I am more excited about everything else like the who, what, when, where and why, then the show itself.

How do you feel about American Idol returning to our TV’s next year?
