BTWF roles: John Goodman in Revenge of the Nerds

Before we knew John Goodman as a high school football legend on Roseanne, he was a football college coach in Revenge of the Nerds. He looks the same now as he did when he was 32 in that 1984 movie.

Do Brad Pitt and Gina Rodrigiez have something to tell us?
May 16th, 2017 under Brangelina, Do they have something to tell us?, Jane the Virgin. [ Comments: none ]

Brad Pitt and Gina Rodriguez were photographed smiling in slow dance like hug, so do they have something to tell us? Yes they do, but not what you think. Both of them are going to be on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert tonight on CBS and they want you to watch it.

Now when it comes to the thing you were thinking they were going to tell us. Could you imagine if the Jane the Virgin star and the former Mr Jennifer Aniston and Mr Angelina Jolie started to date? That would be like a telenovela. Especially because they look so gorgeous together. Plus, it would nice to see him actually date an actress who is naturally sweet and not pompous like most of his exes.

Are you hot or cold that Katy Perry is joining American Idol?
May 16th, 2017 under American Idol 9+, Katy Perry. [ Comments: 1 ]

Last week ABC announced that were bringing American Idol back for a 16th season after it only being off the airwaves for just a season. Today, they announced their first judge and it is Katy Perry. She needs them more than they need her because her career is tanking. Her last few songs have been failures and now she is going on a World tour. It used to be if you did Idol, it helped your sales, but I don’t think people will tune in for her. Yes, she is a name, but she is not well liked. In addition, she screams desperation. It is going to be all about her and she will talk over everyone. She is just so last Friday night.

And that is one of the problems Fox had with Freemantle and the show. Fox wanted a new panel for season 15, but Chairmen & CEOs, Fox Television Group, Dana Walden said they wouldn’t do it. Then she elaborated why they wouldn’t do it and the consequences, “They felt it took a long time to find the chemistry that existed with Jen and Harry and Keith. They ultimately said to us they would rather rest the show after this season than make any changes and try out a different panel and we respected that. That’s when we decided to call it the Farewell Season.”

She was right, and Freemantle was wrong. The Voice knows how to pick they type of Coaches that people like and will tune in for, while Idol did not and seems does not. I mean Jennifer Lopez and Keith Urban was so turn of the Century and Harry Connick Jr was so last Century. And that is why their ratings plummeted 70% in the last 4 years. Because of the declining ratings, Fox asked them to make some trims and they wouldn’t.

Fox also feels that it is too early to bring back the show per their research and fan boards. Fox wanted to wait until 2020, but on the conference call Walden said that Freemantle wanted to bring it back now. Walden’s theory on why they might have rushed to get it back on the air so quickly is because as she explained, “Then I think probably all of you saw RTL’s earnings call last week. They lost revenue from not having this show on in the U.S. That’s meaningful, when you’re running a public company.”

All in all Walden felt during their initial meetings that, “…it would be extremely fraudulent to bring the show back quickly, that our fans would not appreciate being told one thing and then have the show brought back right away. We and Fremantle just had very different points of view.” Come Spring of 2018, I am sure ABC is going to feel the same way as Fox.

How do you feel about American Idol coming back in 2018? How do you feel about Katy Perry as a judge?

Here is ABC’s Fall schedule!
May 16th, 2017 under ABC. [ Comments: none ]

ABC announced their Fall schedule and there will be a lot changes, but a lot of stability too.

Mondays nights start off with Dancing with the Stars and that leas into The Good Doctor, a medical drama from the creator of House. This time the doctor will have been diagnosed with autism and savant syndrome.

Tuesday nights starts off with The Middle and that is the only thing that stayed the same. Fresh Off the Boat moves to 8:30p, followed by Black-ish, on its new night and the new comedy The Mayor. The night ends with The Gospel of Kevin.

Wednesday are the same except that American Housewife will air after Modern Family and before Designated Survivor. This is their strongest night by far.

Thursdays are completely untouched, but Friday is getting a makeover. Once Upon a Time moves to Fridays at 8p followed by Marvel’s Inhumans for 8 weeks. When that Marvel show ends Agents of SHIELD will be back. Both renewed shows were picked up for 22 episodes each. Which shocks me, both shows should have shortened final seasons.

Sundays starts off with its weakest game show To Tell The Truth, followed by Shark Tank and the new show Ten Days in the Valley.

That is fall, but midseason is overstacked and the network at this point doesn’t know how they are going to handle The Bachelor and/or The Bachelor: Winter Games, American Idol, Dancing with the Stars and/or Dancing with the Stars Jr, Quantico, Roseanne and a slew of new shows. To me the network that has the least Reality is going to have problems promoting all of them while the Olympics is airing on NBC. But then again, their Dramas have not been doing well. Maybe it is time for a change for them. I think it should be more comedies, but they think their answer will be with Idol which I think and almost everyone but them thinks will fail big time. We shall see.

Jimmy Kimmel is going to host the Oscars again!
May 16th, 2017 under Jimmy Kimmel, Oscars. [ Comments: none ]

The Oscars is turning 90 in 2018. That’s right, back when they started, Cloris Leachman, Carl Reiner and Betty White were all just children, and today they are still acting and Hollywood’s biggest night is still happening.

I guess, the Oscars wants their milestone to be special so they announced that Jimmy Kimmel will once again host the Oscars again 9 months before the air date. Channing Dungey, president, ABC Entertainment, said, “After just one year, we can’t imagine anyone else hosting The Oscars. Jimmy’s skillful command of the stage is invaluable on a night when anything can happen – and does.”

Yes, he did a good job handling the Best Picture fiasco, but the rest of the show was just average. It was safe. I wish ABC would have gone with a movie star like Kevin Hart or The Rock to host as compared to the late night talk show host. What do you think?
