The cast of The Love Boat reunites!
May 23rd, 2017 under Jill Whelan, Reunions, TV News. [ Comments: none ]

It has been 40 years since The Love Boat set sail, 30 years since it took its last voyage, and today the six leads got together to talk about their beloved show on Today. Captain Stubing (Gavin MacLeod), Vicki (Jill Whelan), Julie (Lauren Tewes), Doc (Bernie Kopell), Gopher (Fred Grandy) and Isaac (Ted Lange) climbed aboard and reminisced about the days on the cruise ship.

Even though that have been on dry land for 3 decades, they still get together all the time. To me when a cast still keeps in touch after so many years even decades after their show ended, it explains why their shows still air in syndication. It is that chemistry that makes the a special show even more special.

This show was so special that actors and musicians begged to be on it. Celebrities like Aretha Franklin, but no one believed Lange when he would tell them that.

Did they know the show was going to be a hit from the beginning? Nope, even the network thought it wasn’t going to get passed the pilot phase. The head honchos thought San Pedro Beach Bums was going to be the biggest show and it never made it to air.

Back in 1977, it was all about cop shows and sitcoms, and The Love Boat was different. MacLeod explained how legendary producer Aaron Spelling made it different than the others. He revealed what were the three storylines were they tackled every week, “We had a sophisticated comedies, we had our broad funny one and a poignant one.” Then he added,”They were touched and they were happy endings.”

What also set this show apart from the rest, they really traveled the World.

There was nothing like The Love Boat back then and nothing like it now. Something I think we are desperately missing. A show about happy endings during difficult times. Yes it was on UPN for a season and I think it needs to be brought back again. More than a show like American Idol. What do you think?

Jim Carrey knows how to make an entrance
May 23rd, 2017 under Jim Carrey, Jimmy Kimmel. [ Comments: 2 ]

It has been a while since Jim Carrey has done a talk show appearance, so he soaked up all of the applause he could get when he made his entrance on Jimmy Kimmel Live yesterday. You know how when an actor comes out, the audience claps until the celebrity sits down. Ace Ventura thought it would be aces to just stand there and see how long they would put their hands together over and over again. The answer is over a minute. How did he feel about it? He told the ABC late night host, “It is uncomfortable, lovely though.” Who would not want all of that attention on them for a brief moment that doesn’t feel that brief?

Why is he growing that big bushy thing on his face? That is not the question we should be asking according to him, “The question is, why am I growing a beard and still shaving my balls?” Therefore, he revealed that if the beard goes away from the big head, the little head will once again have one. I wonder if he names his beards Jenn McCarthy? Sorry, fixated on that thing, it is almost hypnotizing.

I think what makes that furry thing on his face stand out so much on is that while it is grey, his hair is still brown. If they matched, it might look a little better. Nah, nothing could make that look better. I almost feel like it is going to come off and attack everyone. Which is so Ace Ventura.

Chris Pine actually uses a flip phone
May 23rd, 2017 under Chris Pine, Michael Strahan. [ Comments: none ]

Did you think that flip phones went away with the smartphones? They didn’t and Chris Pine admitted today on Good Morning America that he just recently started using one.

Why? He told Michael Strahan and Lara Spencer, “I recently got a record player and a flip phone, and I kind of like the simplifying down. I just like the simple, I just like the non-complicated, I just don’t want to be connected so much. I just like the decrease in anxiety.”

What doesn’t he like about it? Texting because T9 causes him anxiety. But, that does make him unflip the phone and talk to people more.

With his newly acquired mobile phone and record player, it is just like he is living in father’s years on CHiPs. They had cell phones in the ’70s, right?

The verdict is in for Chicago Justice
May 22nd, 2017 under Dick Wolf. [ Comments: none ]

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1uWWlp99R4Q
Even though NBC started the season with four Chicago shows from Dick Wolf, it is starting next with only three. That is because they cancelled Chicago Justice. I had high hopes for the show because I like legal dramas, but this was more like Chicago PD. I can’t watch the latter, therefore I can’t watch the former.

Are you sad it was given the electric chair?
